Disappearing things and strange sounds (an urban legend)

A man who lived alone started noticing some strange things that were going on in his house. Things disappeared and showed up at places where he didn't leave them and food disappeared from the kitchen. In the middle of the night there were some strange sounds, and the man left his bed to check the sounds, but there was no one in the house, the doors were locked and the windows were closed. One day the man decided to put up some cameras in the house. When he watched the video he got a shock - a woman crawled out of his one of his closets and at the end of the video she crawled back into the closet. He thought that the woman was a burglar and he called the police. The police searched the house and found the woman in the closet. But nobody had broken into the house! The doors hadn't been damaged and the windows weren't broken. There was only one explantion - the woman had sneaked into the house one day and she had been hiding in the house for months What do think about this urban legend? How would you react if you discovered that a stranger had been hiding in your house for months?

Hi Porcospino That is scary indeed. I mean I am surely going to be shell shocked if I discover a stranger in my house and realize that s/he was there for so long. The reason is that the place I stay in is just two rooms and if anyone wanted to hide it is smply impossible. And more scary is the thought that I will not notice any one around even in such a small area

I also think that it is a scary thought. My home is the place where I feel safe and I would get scared if I discovered that I had been sharing my home with a stranger for months without knowing it. In a small home like yours it would be even more scary to discover a stranger because it doesn't seem possible that a person would be able to hide in a small place for months. In a big house there might be some rooms that the owner doesn't use much or just use as storage rooms and I would imagine that it would be easier for a stranger to hide in a big house.

That is quite scary.. I wonder why he never noticed the woman was inside, had he never checked that closet? Good thing it wasn't a monster or a ghost though. maybe she was a homeless person and was just so desperate to find a house and food... She could have gone to a shelter though instead of spooking the guy.

I also think that the woman was homeless and that she stayed in his house because she wanted to live in a place that was warm and dry instead of living in the streets. I would be very scared if I discovered that a person had been living inside my house. My home is the place where I usually feel safe, and I would be shocked if I discovered that a person had been hiding in my house for months. Fortuneately I don't think that it could happen here, because we have a dog and he would notice it if a stranger tried to hide in the house.

This is really a funny story.I can`t imagine how someone can stay in a house for months without being noticed or seen. This could never happen in my house which is an apartment and there is absolutely no place where one can hide.It means that the owner of the house never went to his closet for months together which itself is strange. Its scary to think that this woman was freely prowling around the house when the owner wasn`t around. She could have had access to nearly everything in the house.

The fact the owner never used the closet where the woman was hiding was one of things that I also thought about when I read the story. That is pretty strange, but maybe he was a collecter and the closet was full of old things that he kept but never actually used. I don't think that it would be possible for someone hide in one of my closets for months, because I don't keep things that I don't use and often open my closets. It is a scary thought that the woman had access to everything in the house. When we leave our home we lock the doors to protect our home against burglars, but we never imagine that there is already someone inside the house.

so Basically she stayed there for months to get food, hide in places of the house with no person at the moment, she just stayed thereto get food,or maybe use the toilet. At least its a woman,if its a man its going to be much more scarier. He is lucky that woman is not some psycho, maybe she is some desperate homeless person doing it for survival.

Yes, it would have been more scary if it had been a man, I also thought about that. If a woman who lived alone discovered a man in her home it would be especially scary, because a man is physically stronger than her and he might have hurt her if she had found him inside the closet. A homeless person sounds like a good explanation, maybe she hid in the house because she had nowhere to go and she wanted to stay in a warm and a dry place. But it must have been stressful for her to stay inside the house, because she never knew if the owner of the house was going to discover her.

Hello porcospino, OMG I thought something else i thought your story would be related to ghost but thanks to God it was a woman in the end. I would be scared to know that someone was hiding in my house for a long time and i was unaware of it.I will surely check out my whole house again if there is any place from where someone could sneak in my house. I will change all locks of the house to avoid such things in future.

That is scary. It would be a big shock to discover that someone had been hiding in my home. My home is the place where I usually feel safe, and the idea of something hiding in my in house while I thought that I was alone and safe is very scary. I read somewhere that a similar thing happened in Japan, and that the person managed to hide in the house for a very long time without being discovered, but I don't know if that is true.
