yes but you still have to deal with the immediate whether you like it or not, and if it is really bad it is really bad.

I have heard the expression, and have known many people that seem to fit that description. I refuse to won it, though. So far in life I have been pretty well blessed. I may be reaching there now, however.

I sure do agree with that expression. Sad but true. I even get to a point in my depression I guess where if things are going along very well I begin to worry about it. Like this can't be true reality. Something is wrong with this picture. Isn't that pathetic? I don't it much.

I have just gotten to a point where I don't care anymore. When things are good I am thankful. My meds don't do that much good. I've tried everything. I just don't care anymore.

winterose I have heard the expression and I think it describes what many go through. I've had what I call bad luck but I have also had good luck and even great luck. It's all kinds of experiences for me...what I don't get is why the bad times makes us stronger and wiser and the good times don't really.

oh the good times do as well if you let them, for example if you do well in your studies or in business you want to continue to do well and even get better if you can

No, this is a first for me and the expression caught my attention so much I had to see if it was one of those things that goes around dinner parties or from an old irish saying.
Seems it was once a Ray Charles song - "That's why I say if everybody went to heaven Hey-ey-ey, I believe I'd miss the call, but you see if it wasn't for bad luck . . ."
Don't know what to make of this expression.
"I know we be gettin' rainy days and sunshine too
but if we had nothin' but darkness
I'd say let it rain for the missin'
at least there would be me and .... you!" - bluedoll

Oh your welcome winterose. I looked it up though because I found it interesting and never heard that expression before but wrote the little diddy myself.
It was an interesting saying. I think we all have difficulties, I mean the whole human race does and you can never truly find a person without them at the very least at sometime in their life despite how happy and well off they might seem. Some lucky ones can be born with a silver spoon in their mouth but it is those that have the bad luck thrust upon them and still learn how to laugh about it that others look up to.

I do think that sometimes. It seems to run in streaks. We just have to count our blessings when things go right.

Doesn't make sense to me, since there are only two kinds of luck "bad luck, and good luck." If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have good luck.
I would say "if I had no bad luck, I'd have good luck." LOL

it is a play on words, the expression simply reinforces that you have bad luck,
by first saying bad luck then saying no luck meaning the same thing

Oh No! What has happened? And no I don't agree with this statement. But I can see how each failure can make it feel that way. Last week I thought my luck had run out but it hadn't ... touch wood!
All I can say is reach out to family and friends when you think your luck has run out. They can help. And Never give up hope.

major electricity problems and my computer is busted because of it. I am working on my son's computer right now. I started another discussion on the problems.

hmm not really for me, for me luck has nothing to do with what is happening.. i believe it has more with my decisions and attitude.
I used to believe in such before, but noticed that when i start my day right, everything goes smoothly but if i dont it ends badly. It depends on how i look and acts on things. Like for example, when i wake up i get all grumpy and complaining with stuff..and end up in a bad mood and i go to the office carrying that aura.that attitude, so everything else is messed up too! so now, i make it a point to bring in positive attitude.. like smile before doing anything.

Oh yes! I've said that expression many times in my life. On the surface I believe in this statement, but deep down I don't really believe in luck, but I do believe that things happen in life that is just part of life and everything around us. Like, I know you are having issues with computer and power... not long ago I also had a computer crash... I was working for K then.. and asked him for an advance so I could get my netbook... I was fortunate enough at the time that he had the cash to send me. Otherwise I couldn't have gotten it.
Situations happen all the time, and at first I do believe in the negative... that if it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all.. but I don't stay there because I believe we can speak things into existence into our lives and make things even worse. Call it law of attraction, if you will.
I feel like these difficult times ebb and flow into and out of our lives. Like when it's good, it's very good and when it's bad it's very bad, and then it comes good again.

oh I rejoice in my good times, you know that, I am extremely happy and productive, so it is not the law of attraction for me. It it an incredibly difficult life. The good times never last long before something else props up, that perhaps would not be an issue for people who were not sick, or had money, I neither have my health or money.
for example with this electrical problem a person who had money would have just moved out and found a place last year. But I have trouble getting places because I don't have the money to pay the steep rents.

I have not heard about that expression but I would like to somehow agree. I discovered lately that whenever a luck is around, a bad luck would happen first.

I am not quite sure what that statement should mean.
But I guess it will be something like: you will only recognize what luck is if you know what bad luck is as well? So we need the bad and the sad things to feel happiness as well?
If that is what it means I can partly agree with it. I say partly because I truely believe there are people who are able to feel lucky and recognize happiness without getting to a lot of trouble.

It's kind of like.. when it rains it pours... an expression that bad things happen all the time in a person's life. I do agree that we do need the bad times to recognize the good times when we have them. We do tend to get complacent when everything goes good all the time. I know I am more appreciative of the good times because I know what those bad times are like.

Well, there have been times I have felt this way as well, but know that in reality God is the one who is in control and many times the things we consider Bad Luck are the things that end up making us stronger. But when you really Look at things, there are times the Bad Luck will turn into good just to show you it was worth keeping strong for. So the next time BAD Luck hits, praise it, and wait out your storms.

I don't believe in that statement because there is no such thing as luck. It is a false thing that is happening. Unfortunately, humanity have invented the concept known as luck to justify why many things have happened. Whether it would be good things or bad things, luck has really been put out there to justify it. Therefore if people think that they have had a bad time, they have said it is bad luck, which really it could be due to their own incompetence.
If I had failed with something, it is really just something that is my fault. Not the fault of anyone else. Not the fault of some mythical concept of good luck, bad luck, indifferent luck, or really anything like that to say the very least. So there is really no such thing is luck. It is merely a delusional, an illusion, that humanity has put up to justify their own capabilities or incapabilities. If something bad happens, you did something wrong. If something good is done, then you obviously did something right.

I think there is no such a thing as a bad luck, aside from religious answer, I believe bad luck is just a miss chance, that we get, but it doesn't means bad luck is really exsist! So It doesn't means when you got something you don't like that you having a bad luck! It just a thing that happened to u
