I watched a documentary on dogs. They talked about how wild canines became tamed as domestic pets. One study showed that they bred the already calm foxes and kept breeding them until now those babies are just like a house dog. And as they kept doing this, their physical features started changing as well! How crazy is that! Imagine humans did the same kind of things to humans... keep 'breeding' the 'calm' humans together until we create a whole new species! Also, some studies believe that dogs are smart because they are 'raised by a pack of' humans. So what if we changed that around... and if a human was really 'raised by a pack of ' dogs.. how different would we really become?

In ERB's Tarzan series he was raised by a clan of apes. He was wild but intelligent and good hearted. Two very important characteristics! Dogs were smart before bred by humans. If humans were raised by a pack of dogs they would be cleaner, more observant and less fussy.

There are many cases of "feral" children, you just have to look them up.

Now, the idea of breeding calm humans to calm humans is great, except the strong, violent ones are the ones that will still try to mate, and often women when they are ovulating find those more attractive....

Interesting thoughts. The problem with raising "calm" humans is that nature wouldn't allow it. It is a survival gene that we are somewhat aggressive and those kind of genes are hard to get rid of. They have tried to breed them out of animals as well and although there are good results, it is never gone. I think that raising is directly related to what we see as intelligent. Dogs learn what they are exposed to and are responsive to rewards based on what we expect. In the wild they would be expected to do other things for their rewards.

You know Rudyard Kipling imagined how a man has evolved by being raised by wild animals in "Jungle book". I think there are other stories about children being raised by wild animals. I don't think we would move forward on the evolutionary scale. It is better the other way around.
As for breeding the calm humans together... I don't know. There was a guy that started such experiments in World War II and he didn't end up well.
