Everybody knows that you have to be tall and slim so that you are qualified to be a model. However, now I suddenly realize that you should also have the requirement to stand the cold temperature. It is very common that you have to wear bikini to have photoshots when it is cold outside. This is a real challenge

I have also noticed that, too! Models really have to bear the cold temperature especially when they are shooting for non-winter clothes. I guess it's part of their professionalism.

Every jobs in the market call for different challenges and being clad in bikini when the outside temperature is freezing cold is one of the biggest challenge for any models to endure. They have no choice but to follow the sponsors directive but am sure they are paid quite well plus getting their pictures flashed in glossy magazines making them popular which only remain a dream for those who can't meet the qualification to be a model.

Yes, it would be good to be able to withstand the cold. I saw a little of a shooting of a model for the Swim Issue of Sports Illustrated and she was in a bikini and the wind was blowing. It looked pretty cold. I don't think I could have withstood the cold wind like she did.

Maybe they do it in short bits and get warmed up in between.

Hi youless,
I think one needs to face some tough challenge to become a fashion model. Only those who are patient, diligent, willingness to accept criticism, highly motivated and well-disciplined ones are able to pull thorough the obstacles.
They need to follow a strict diet and maintain a healthy living style which includes workouts to keep them on top. Something which is quite impossible for everyone to practice. However it's a package that comes with the challenging career. I just love it when Tyra says, You are still running towards becoming America's next top model. She will say it to every selected model at the end of every show.

What you said is funny.I doubt if they have photoshots in the film studio. But then, they certainly take a great pain besides their well-proportioned build and the model is an occupation for young persons only.

I think you have to have a great desire to be a model, so that you can put up with unpleasant situations like being too cold or too hot, or dieting severely or having lots of "beauty" treatments.

There's something wrong with that requirement, since thinner people have less meat on their bones to keep them warm.

youless,
I suppose it just comes with the job especially when clients require challenging photo shoots and being a professional, there's really no choice here.
Call it occupation hazard, but I wish it would not be so harsh like asking for a bikini shoot in North or South Pole. I can understand the challenges but they should be realistic and most of all, humane.

Yea, I think that it would be impossible for me to be a model, as I wouldn't be able to stand cold water, and plus I'm not tall at all so oh well. I hate that they have a lot of requirements in becoming a model. And I don't think it is right that they make models endure such things as laying in a pool of icey water and they have to endure that to make it to the top.

That's really a great challenge.
But the greatest challenge for them is to stay skinny.
I've read from model's confessions that, they are only allowed to eat so little,
They need to keep their figure and a lot of discipline as well.

you forgot that petite models, muscular models and plus sized models (tyra calls them fiercely real) exist to. Models are also required to be photogenenic. they also needs to have no inhibitions, you know there weretimes they have to pose while in very highplaces or they have to model with a snake in their shoulder or spider in the face. Its not an easyjob at all.

-sigh- one more requirement i failed to have. LOL. Being a model would be cool but it's not all glamor and fun, but also hard work and discipline. ^^
