I finally finished it!!!

cross-stitch project - This took me over a year to finish, but most of that time, I didn't even work on it.

The cross-stitch project I started last year before I left China was 2/3 the way finished when I came back in January, but I seldom worked on it since I got back here. I finally sat down and started working on it about a week or so ago and I finished it today. I am so excited. Some of the parts of it aren't like the pattern showed, but I improvised because I got tired of changing colors and in some cases, I couldn't find the color needed. Now to see if I can get the materials to work on the pattern that I downloaded from a discussion someone posted a while back.

I LOVE Chinese art and have been looking for a piece of Chinese art to cross stitch! I love this! (You can send this pattern to me now!)

I actually bought the kit in a shop in China. It didn't come from a website. Sorry.

I really don't know how I would do this unless I took a picture of the six panels of the pattern. The paper is falling apart anyway. One nice thing about Chinese kits: they include more than enough floss since they give the option of which fabric to use and I guess they provide enough to do any of three sizes. Most of the kits I got in America I would run out of one color or another. If you want the pattern, let me know how to get it to you.

I have a lot of projects that I need to sit down and finish. I tend to improvise on things myself.

Maybe we should have a project finishing party one of these days. I have started on another project and I think that I can safely say that I don't like 25 count fabric for doing cross-stitch on. I have to take my glasses off to even see the holes and then I can't see anything...including the pattern...oh well...

With all you've been through, then you've traveled so much, I feel lazy. I can't even cross stitch!

I'm sure you aren't lazy! It might feel like it, but I'm sure you do lots of things. I know when I was working two jobs, volunteering and going to school, I often told people I didn't feel like I did enough because I couldn't do the things I wanted to do. When I think about it, I really was doing a lot and I didn't know how I did it. I just did it. Have a great week!!!

Good for you! It's always nice to finish up a project that you have labored over for a long time or that has sat staring you in the face unfinished. What an accomplishment. I had a quilt I was working on one time and when I finished the last stitch I sat and cried!

You are right about it being nice to finish up a project! I have already started on another one, but it is a little frustrating to me because it is so small. I am used to 12 count fabric and this one is 25 so it is really hard to see for me. I didn't realize how small it would be when I got the pattern that I was going to use. Thanks for the response!

Looks good! Looks just like a painting! I am not very confident with cross-stitch. I have given up on many a project because I have made a mistake and ran out of the color(s) to go back and fix it. Perhaps it's just too much counting as well for me to keep interested in it. I'm sure there's lil tricks to keeping in the right place that I have not heard of.

I find on my current project that I have to worry a lot more about counting. But the thing is so small it is hard to see. One thing I did do was draw the grid lines on the material which really does help me keep track of where I am. I picked that up when I was in China because they put them on for me. Now I have to figure out how to get them off. Have a great weekend!!!

It is really pretty. I'd love to be able to fill my home with projects like this, maybe I will pick up a few patterns and kits one day when I have some extra cash to spare. My sister used to do the counted cross stitch rugs, and my mama too.

Thanks. This is the second project that I had completed, but the other one got left in China when I came back for medical purposes. Now I just have to figure out how to get rid of the grid lines they drew on the material for me. The one I finished there, I dropped it off at the shop and two weeks later I got it back without the grid lines and in a frame. I don't think they do that here in America, but I will stop by Michaels and ask them. I got a free pattern for my next project, but I'm afraid the materials for it will be expensive.

There were a lot of colors, but the next project I'm going to start has even more. I don't mind hard work. It keeps life interesting! Thanks for the comment.
