The little bit of gray stayed in, but now the brown is coming back a little darker and very wavy. I had straight hair unless I curled it and the curls didn't last very long unless I had a perm. Now I have wavy hair all the time.
The comments I've gotten have been favorable. "Your hair looks cute. You're soooo lucky you look good with short hair." "That hairstyle looks like the 1920s." "It looks like you went to a salon and got your hair done like that on purpose."
So has some or all of your hair ever fallen out and come back in? This is the second time for me. I was born with lots of hair. But it fell out after I was born. Probably the stress of being born or something. It was red and a long time later it came back in blond.
Have you ever tried a new hairstyle or color and had lots of positive results? Did you agree with the results?
I think I looked like a cocker spaniel at first. Now that I look at it a little longer and like I'm 1920s, it does look kind of cool. Maybe I should get a 1920s hat.I'm too heavy to fit into an outfit I had to reinact the 1920s when I did a Charleston a long time ago. Didn't have the hair for it then, don't have the body for it now. Oh well, just can't get my style together at the same time, can you?

I have heard when one loses their hair, that when it comes back in it is different. I never lost my hair, but it has gone through changes, both I believe are due to what I did.
My hair was straight and brown with red highlights when I was younger, then when I started dying it to cover the gray, I noticed I had waves, except I don't want the waves or curls that I admire when I was young.
Then, I decided to change how I cover my gray because the chemicals in the kits were drying my hair out, so I switched to Henna just over a week ago. I read that henna can take the curl out and so I was really excited to try it. Well, now my hair is more red than brown, and I still have a little curl, but not as much and the best difference is my hair is softer. I think your hair would be softer too, isn't it?

I was wondering how your hair had turned out. Each time you use the henna the color will get richer and deeper. My hair waves, but it never waved too much. I think it is less frizzy now, and it shines more.

Yes Gerty!! and I am so excited because I also have less frizz. I already got a condiment bottle saved for my roots when I need to touch up and I think the smell is like vegetable soup, I love it, but it makes me hungry...
I also love the color and how soft it is..I was just saying last night about getting my hair trimmed, (to trim off some of the chemical treated hair) so that it will look even nicer. I also got confirmation from both my son and husband that they like it, though I forgot to mention it to my daughter even though she was over the day before my birthday, the color is close enough, she didn't realize any change. So though it is a little more red,it isn't a huge change, (and that is how I want it) and so I have to remember to have her look at it and see what she thinks..
I can't thank you enough for starting that discussion Gerty..
I had known about henna, but afraid to take the plunge and your discussion gave me the courage,.,Thank you...

Oh writer...
I might be wrong, but I am sure with time, it will soon come in full and beautiful again...

I used to have very thick hair. Usually had it long. Cut it once and it was alittle wavey. I asked my girlfriend to trim my hair for me one evening. We went out on the front step and when she was done my hair was cut at an angle on the bottom. I got it cut in a shag and wore it that way for quite awhile. When it grew back out long it was thinner.

Most people after a certain age, their hair gets thinner. I have two spots (both on my right side) where the hair is thinkker. Long hair makes thin hair look thinner-usually. The weight pulls it down and makes it stick closer together.

Very true!
My best beauticians are on the disabled list. My first one became too emotionally disturbed to be able to concentrate and my hair went from fabulous to having to have someone fix the mess she made. Also it went from relaxing to scary because the scissors went close to my eyes a couple of times. Then the next time I found someone who was excellent, she had to quit because her lungs couldn't take the chemicals from dying hair any more, so at 62 she took early retirement and the last time she cut my hair, we got to talking and she was doing a raiser cut, she started talking with her hands and came close to cutting my throat with a razer. So I get a little concerned, you know.

If you have a good beautician they can help make your hair look thicker. And there are even hair products that can help too.

I get lots of positive comments about my hair with the henna, except it bothers my brother. Actually what is bothersome is the brightness of it where it was gray. It is toning down more all the time as the layers get deeper. I guess I could buy some indigo and add it to help. I like how my hair is looking and I think that is a major thing. It is getting long and gets just enough wave. The older ladies at the YMCA admire it a lot. It is funny. Going there makes me feel more thirty something than fifty something. If only I could lose fifty something pounds. Back to my hair, it is shiny and that is something everyone comments on. It was a little thicker than normal before I started doing the henna and so it looks quite full now.

I probably would not be coloring my hair but hubby found it odd that I had so much more gray than he has and he is eight years older. He still gets mistaken for his thirties. When I first used a chemical dye my big gray streaks turned fuschia, so I used Dawn dish detergent to dull them out. It was weird. I find that I even feel younger than the women who are (I assume) in my age group or younger. I am glad to be away from the chemical dyes. My younger sister speculated that the chemicals in commercial hair coloring may have started the skin cancer that first appeared in her temple area. No one can say for sure. It kept going to different places and eventually became bone cancer.

I'm sorry it went different places and became bone cancer. Take care.

My hair was terrific on henna. But time constraints made it difficult for me to keep doing it. My ash blond hair had no shine. Then when it became ash brown, it still had no shine.
I think the white gray and dark brown I have now look pretty good.
Your hair sounds beautiful.
I know, when the women of the American Legion used to get together, I used to feel so young. But our group has fallen apart. The ladies are ending up in nursing homes and so on.

I love the 1920's hairstyle. I sometimes curl and style my hair similar to it when I go to work and stuff. I find it really feminine and just so regal for some reason. I personally look at the hair of strangers first before anything else. of course I will see their face first but i seem to stare on their hair longer and seem to examine it.

So is that style called a "finger wave" for the curl? That keeps sticking in my head for some reason.
I think everyone has something that they really tune in on or hone in on, whatever it is, I have a friend, for her, it's hands. She comes from a country where people talk with their hands. During the winter up here when people have their hands in their pockets or wear gloves, she finds that very frustrating.
Do you find people wearing hats frustrates you?
Nice response. Thank you and nice to make your acquaintance. I wish I was thin like the 20s. Also young. Not sure how the fat 53 year old that I am is pulling this off.

I had a co-worker who, before I started working with her, had 3 rounds of chemo, for 2 different cancers, and her hair came back once dark and curly, the next time totally white and the last time more or less light brown with waves, like it had been originally.
