Retirement Living.

I'm thinking about when DH retires and we are considering moving into a retirement apartment surrounded by people who are in their fifties and older. We don't have any kids and could probably live quite happily in a small one bedroomed place as long as it was cosy. I've even looked around to see what is available and what we could afford and there's a couple of places that appeal but as we don't qualify for a few years yet I can only hope they don't skyrocket in price in the meantime. Have you got a plan of retirement? Would you sell your home and downsize or move to a different area or country?

I am already retired and live with my daughter in a low income Section 8 apartment. If I had been able to keep my house I would sell it and downsize if I was alone now. But I have committed to helping my daughter raise her son. I had planned to travel and see the US atleast otherwise. I would have to advise you of something. I think that apartment you said you liked will probably go up in price. It is inevidable. Good luck to you!

Everyone worries about retirement plans and getting old, but what happens if you die before you get old. Then all of that planning for retirement was for nothing. After I have a real job, I might start planning for retirement, but not right now.

My husband and I live in a house at the moment and we both know that we won't be able to stay here where we get older, because the house isn't suitable for elderly people. The stairs are narrow and the only bathroom is upstairs. The bathroom is tiny and there is no shower only a very deep bathtub. Now we are in our 30's and 40's and those things are no problem at all, but when we get older we want to find another place to live. I don't know where we are going to move, we both want to stay on the island where we live now, so we will probably find a smaller place without stairs somewhere on our island.

Hello! When I am in my old age, I want to stay in a place where me and my husband found our family. I guess there is no place like home. As for my parents who are now retirees, they got a house in my mom's hometown in the farmlands. I guess they are enjoying their time planting some crops and have a simple living. It is possible for them to stay out of the city since all of has had finished our degrees. There is no reason for them to live nearby the city. Instead, we come and visit them at least 2 to 3 times a month. I would somehow want to live a simple life when time comes.
