I love helping the elderly!!!!!

There was a elderly man who use to live across the street from me
but he moved to a Senior complex...I use to help him alot when he
was across the street because I just thought it was the right thing
to do..
When he moved I told him if he ever needed me to just call me..
Today he called (and he has called before), asked if I would come
to pick him up after church and take him to get some Kentucky Fride chicken...
HOw could I say no...He is approximately 89 years old and only go
to the Senior Center everyday and to church on sundays...He is such
a very nice man and he has all his capacities...His only hold back
is that he needs walker...But he is sharp otherwise..
I love being abe to help anybody but especially the elderly who really
needs help sometimes...

You have a kind heart, I wish everyone in this world do the same. If we are in a capacity to help the elderly why should we deprive ourselves doing so? There are so many ways to help them not just giving them money. Sometimes our willingness to listen to their stories is a way of helping them. What you did is a fine example, you dedicated your time, effort and willingness to help them. They say if you are going to help others choose those people who are in dire need. God will be the one to repay all your goodness.

to be nice and kind most of the time but I am only human...LOL.
I think helping others is one of our reasons for being on
this earth..to help God do is work.. I have always believed
that..I do believe and I would hope that when I need help
in any given time (and there will come a time that I will need
help also) that there would be someone out there who
would step in and help a "SISTA" out...
I have 2 children and 2 grandsons, my payment is coming everyday
just knowing my children are alive and healty...GOd is good!!!!

I used to go to a local nursing home and do activities with the residents or there was one man I used to read to, it is lovely to help the elderly, I can honestly say I learnt so much from the elderly people in that nursing home.

Hi lilaclady, I am sure you did learn a lot...becasue you know
they are full of knowledge and experiences..Some of then are so
needed It makes me feel great to know that I can help..
I do believe this is what God wants us to do...help each other!!!!!

I enjoy the elderly also. i used to read the Reader's Digest to my great grandmother. She was blind and in her 90's by then. Older folks always have great stories to tell and are so sweet. I sure miss my grandparents and especially this time of year it is very hard. But i have some great memories.

Occasionally, when the elderly ask for help, I will more than glad to help them. I felt like "why not". If they are not lost the ability, they won't ask for help at the first place. Just imagine when you get older, you also need some help from others too. You are a very nice guy.

That's a very nice thing to do! I think everyone could do that, it's not that difficult and many times we also have a lovely time with them, because they have a incredible experience of life. Last semester, in our college, we had to visit elderly persons every week, it was a very nice!

You have a special gift to care about other people and the elderly can be a challenge. You are to be commended for your acts of kind service. What a blessing you are, especially during the Christmas season when many elderly are lonely.
Thank God that your life thus far has still left you with a heart that can reach out to help others. As many people go through the trials of life, their hearts become hardened and closed.

A good feeling does come out of you when you are helping the elderly., Everyone needs a little help now and then. I only hope someone is so kind to me when I get just a bit older.

That was indeed so helpful and kind of you my friend, keep it up. You have your rewards from heaven and in your old age , somebody will also help you like that.
All of us have parents and me, they are already old and so with my parent-in-law.
Since i live with my in-laws, i serve them like they are my parents too. I feel happy, when i am able to help them by doing the household chores for them, like preparing our meals and making them delicious, specially on my rest days from work. Though, my mother-in-law is still very much capable of cooking, i feel that i should be doing them, when i am off from my work.
But how i wish they are vocal of their appreciation, because it seems they just eat and eat with no word at all.

Helping others not only brings happiness to the person in need of help,but also to ourselves.When we've helped others,we would feel the value of ourselves and a sense of achievement,and soon a sense of confidence and contentment will soon rise in our minds,which will greatly improve our spirits.When the person is in bad need of help,say,an elderly person,the feel of achievement would even be greater!I'll try my best to help more people in my daily life from now on.

We feel the same way. I love helping the elderly. It would feel heaven after helping those kind of people. My grandmother is already old so i assist her in things she does. I make sure i take good care of her since she is the only one i got. I still want her to live long because i am so close to her and i love her. She took care of me when i was little and this time i will make sure i will give back to her what she gave me when i was young. We also learn a lot from them because they already have much experience.
