This is not a gay bashing discussion and I don't want people come on this discussion to bash gays. Up until this year I had two gay friends, two women, I really didn't know anyone else. This year I met another gay friend and his partner, Then my gay friend's brother is with a former lesbian, who has introduced me to gay friends. For example we were 7 at the dinner table this weekend and 5 people were gay. But the interesting part I want to bring up Is about one of the ladies present at the dinner table. She married a young man whom I had known since he was a child. They broke up and now he is gay and she is gay. Normally you hear of one partner becoming gay (meaning being in a heterosexual marriage then seeking a gay one) I know gay is not a choice it is a way of life and for the most part you don't just become gay so you don't have to tell me that in this discussion. My point is I have never heard of two heterosexual married people both going into a gay relationship after the heterosexual marriage has broken up. Any thoughts?

Who is to say what makes others do what they do. Maybe these two were gay and just needed this marriage to make them realize they couldn't live heterosexual. just like it takes some intense happening to us to wake us up and make us realize what it is all about. I think gay relationships and the people in them are very complex.

I wasn't questioning why they do what they do, my question was I had never heard of both members of a former heterosexual couple becoming gay and was wondering if other people here on mylot had heard of it. I know lots of couples where one former spouse becomes gay but never both of them. This is new to me

WEll i do have gay friends..and i have known these gay guys, they used to be our neighbors and they are really living together...and is like one is the wife and one is the husband...its weird but i guess they are synchorized, its like both are working together. And just a few weeks ago,i have seen them with a kid, they adopted this kid! It is weird but if it is pure love, then its real love.

It just sounds like a coincidence to me. As far as I am concerned, it's a big world, and anything is possible.

Hello Winterose, In my country INDIA people fear to reveal that they are gay or lesbian due to our society as our society don't easily accept homosexuals.Gay Man marries straight woman due to family pressures in INDIA and trouble comes after marriage. In most of the cases marriages get broken afterwards. Here too in the case you mentioned both the persons may be gay/lesbian from the strating but did not reveal it and when they realised it that they should have revealed it and live life as they find suitable for them they did it and changed their lifestyles. But still i doubt if straight person too becomes gay/lesbian after being straight for long time.
