There are a lot of scamming going on during this holiday..Be very careful when going to the bank, using ATM machines, or even getting those calls telling your that you have won prizes but they need your bank account infomation... Anything atrange or that you don't understand...call you local police department and report same... The elderly is prayed on alot...Do not let anyone into your house that you don't know especially if they do not show you an ID before you open the door, even if its throught a window.. All in all be careful all...don't get caught up in any flim flam just because of greed... There are lot of "don't give a dam" people in this world.. BE CAREFUL!!!!!!!

I think that I am being targeted as a victim of a phone scam, but I am not entirely sure. I keep getting a phone call saying that I won a pre-paid Visa card for completing an on-line survey. Now, I am pretty sure that I have not completed any on-line surveys ... I know that things have been stressful lately and sometimes I forget something here and there, but I am pretty sure I would remember doing that, especially since I do not do survey sites. On the other hand, I did enter a shopping giveaway in the store that I normally go to, but that was an "in store" contest. They did say they would contact me by mail or phone, but it definitely was not an on-line survey. I just keep hanging up the phone, because I don't trust the call.

This past Spring I was caught up in a scam. I was trying to sell a printer I had gotten in a warranty deal. A guy contacted me and wanted the printer. He ask that I hold the printer while he got the money together. I told him I just needed to sell it and first come first serve. He emailed me afew days later saying the money was being sent by way of UPS. He said he was sending me an extra $20 for holding it for him and to send the remainder back to him. I had heard of this scam for years. After about a week I did receive a check for like $3000. I contacted the authorities and reported it. You have to be careful now days. The BBB is a great resource.

Good reminder! In fact, there are more cheaters when the holidays are coming. And as you said, some cheaters focus on elders, because they think elders are getting slow in thinking, and most elders have some savings. There are different kinds of scams, some tell you your email address or messenger ID win a prize, then they ask other information about you, then they use the information to cheat. There are some bad guys who sell your personally information, mostly your cell phone numbers, then send you sms in the name of your family member, well ,"thanks for" the advanced technology, some can even let their number show into numbers of your family members'. Here in my place, a mother received a sms, which said her son was hurt in an accident, now he was in hospital, and need she to send some money into a card. You know what, the mother really send the money into the card, later her son called back, she knew the truth. Well, this cheater take advantage of mother's love and careless and inability to keep a cool head in the time of emergency.

Hi tiina, at least you heard and understood the message I was trying to get across...A lot of people just don't think about certain thing until someone brings it to their attention and the VIOLA!!!! Life is great..protect you and your family can be a real test but do all you can,,,, But believe me its not only because its Christmas season the reason trickers are out there...they are on the street everyday of the year they just are more greedy during the holidays because they know that many of us spend big money and lots of items being transported back and forth.... Be safe!!!!!!

There was a guy that came to our house saying he was going to put a security system in but he needed our socials to make sure we qualify. We didn't do it, we told him to leave and not come back. Apparently our elderly neighbors did fall for it and they were robbed and a whole bunch of things happened to them. This is just terrible to me! Some people need to get some morals...

Oh dear! Electricity bills have gone up a lot and this woman just rocked up to my home saying that she can offer a discount to our electricity bills. My dad was really into it and started to show her his bills and personal details. Now this woman, she kinda looked a little suspicious and lets just say she was very rude! The way she spoke was very irritating and she seemed angry when my dad kept asking her which company she worked for. I was so glad when it was over and she left. She was so upfront and casually walked into my house and sat down. I always get calls too by different callers saying how this deal is better than the deal I have now. I simple tell them that I'm not interested and happy with what I got and they always ask why am I happy with it. Do I have to tell you why?! I hang up and then they call me again but this time a different caller asking me the same exact thing. It went on for a few days until they av up one me. It's funny how some people call up and go "You won a free phone!" I also get letters about winning something like 20,000 dollars.

Wow Triple, that scary to have someone up your house sitting down making themselves at home without you even knowing who they were. Just be careful and remember nothing in this life is free but air, and if you use a allergy pump you have to pay for that... Sometimes we get greedy to think that we can actually end up on the winning end of a scam...Its not in our best interest to get involved... Happy holidays to you and your dad.....be safe!!!!!!

Yeah, this is the season where lots of scams , thievery among many kinds proliferate. And yes, they mostly target those senior citizens, because they cannot run after them or don't have the strength to resist them. So, instead of them withdrawing their bonuses for their pensions, my husband did it for them.
