Well the awful things happened over the cmas and New years holiday caused me the worst holiday in the whole 64 yrs. of my life. would you believe that? things settled greatly when son came home, but he was sick himself with some virus or cold, whatever. new years night, just before midnight, i was coming out of the bathroom, barely able to walk and breath. i felt really faint and weak. screamed for son. he carried me to the car and daughter came to to help. we ended up in emergency while everyone was celebrating out side. i had pneumonia. (spelling?) anyway, it was touch and go for me for 3 days at least. just got out last night, the 6st. friday. so here i sit trying to catch up with everything. missed you all. one thing sure, the world may end, since no one including me thought id ever quit smoking and guess what? i absolutely have!!!have to for sure. what you think of that one?

Boy, you are a tough ole bird aren't you? hehe You did very well on the spelling of pneumonia. I have had that too and it is horrible to experience. I learned that there are about 24 different types of pneumonia. I thought that was interesting. I think you will be around for awhile. Tough and stead fast you are.

What i understand about the different types is that there are several that you can give to other people much like a cold. Through coughing and such. If a hospital knows they have this strain and they even have a shot for it then they would give it to those that are susceptable to this illness.

please try harder . i know its so terrible trying to stay away girl. i know you get sick of people telling you you can do it. i always started back and now im thinking after 50 yrs, if i can quit anyone can. no one believes i can do it but fear of being on oxygen the rest of my life has done it for me. this is my second time of pneumonia in the hospital and i just hate it. its the worst sickness ive had even from the cancer.

Welcome back. Sorry to hear that you were so ill. But, glad to hear that you are getting better. I venture to say that you most likely will not stop coughing completely until the weather turns warm again. I was glad to hear that your children were able to get you to the ER. Congrats on quitting smoking. I quit back in 2007 after 10 years of chain smoking and constant colds, sinus infections and coughing spells. Have a wonderful day, hope you feel better soon.

Thank you. I guess I won't know if I will need anything to help breath for a while yet, one just never knows what the damages from smoking will cause. Will pray that you will not need oxygen. Good luck. Have a wonderful day.

I have been in hospitals a great deal lately, due to a cancer treatment. I agree with you that it is not a good place to be. About four years ago I quitter smoking mainly for economic reasons as I smoked too much and felt that I could not manage smoking and vacations. Now, thinking about how life always has these turns and twists, I wonder if I would have been happier if I hadn´t quit.

no dear you would not be happier. dont think like that. you might start back and oxygen is next. stay off the smoke please. i know. been through cancer 3 times and now pneumonia twice. believe it or not the pneumonia is worse then the cancer. just hope im not on oxygen the rest of my life. its terrible to be hooked to this machine. no life. hope you continue to get better and enjoy life again sweet lady

I suppose I get grumpy because I have been completly dedicated to an illness all last year. It pisses me. And everytime I think that I am going to get a reasonable answer as to what to expect, something new happens and I have to wait for it. . I don´t think that I will smoke again. I would not bragg about it but just buy some ciggies. I will not say what will happen tomorrow, but today I can tell you I am not interested in smoking. Sorry for your cancer, bunny. And I have seen that an oxigen tank is terible, you are right. I do hope you step out of it soon.

Sorry that you are not feeling well. I hope that you start getting stronger. I hope that you are able to stay smoke free. It will be good for you, although I don't seem to be strong enough to stay away.

I think it is great that you quit smoking, now do not start back up. It may save your life yet, and the other thing is it will save you a ton of money. I am so sorry you had to spend New Year's in the hospital.

Geez Bon, how scary for you. I'm sorry you were so ill, I've been sick getting pneumonia, caught it in time thank goodness but I remember only too well how dreadful I felt. It's really good that your son was there for you. Congratulations on kicking the dreaded weed too. That's a big achievement...now all you have to do is stay off them...don't let anyone smoke in the house.

well son has never let anyone smoke in the house. thats always been an absolute no! probably one of the reasons for getting cold on top of pneumonia anyway, i really dont feel tops yet and im so tired of being sick this year, i mean last year, coming into this one. i wish God/ fate, whatever would just give me a break again for a few months. it would be so nice just to feel really good for a while. no smokeing yet, but its lots harder when you feel like crap.

What a horrid holiday you had! I'm glad you're alright, though, and quitting smoking will save you a lot of trouble and money. Use at least some of the extra to do something nice for yourself!

I am just real happy that you are doing good. We do not want to see anything happen to you. I think it is a good idea to quit smoking. I have tried and I know how hard it is to do. But who wants to wind up in the hospital as a result. I hope you feel much better and take care of yourself. I look forward to all your discussions here at MyLot. Also, I hope your son is doing better as well.

Poor bunnybon I am sorry you had such a lousy New years start. I caught a cold on Christmas Day, and the usual meds i take when I feel theres a cold around the corner didnt help any but I went to work 27th and got to the pharmacy to get good over the counter meds. They helped me a lot but meanwhile hubby had a cold too and although his doctor put him on antibioticx they didnt really help him but my over the counter stuff he just got from an online pharmacy seems to do nicely. Hope you get better soon.

its called Sinupret here in Germany, it helps getting your stuffed nose free. I always was apprehensive of it cause I thought it would make your nose run all the time like crazy but it doesnt, hoe ever it gets you back to normal breathing. Hope your daughter gets good over the counter meds too. The prescription meds are chemical bombs and I dont take them unless my doc tells me I absolutely have to.

I know I'm a little late in responding but I do want you to know that I'm very happy that you're home and well! Now please be sure to get the pneumonia shot every 5 to 7 years so that if you were to come down with it again, it won't be as bad as it could've been without it. My mother used to get pneumonia two times a year every year till the shot came out and now she hasn't gotten sick for several years. Now get rid of that low down scum bag daughter's boyfriend! Daugther too if need be!

I hope you are feeling a lot' better now bunny. for me this has been a bad holiday season too. I blame myself for not having taken myself to my doctor first of this week. if the comtress does not do it I am due for my yearly physical now he can listen to my bronchitis too if its not over with next week. I went all last winter without even a mild cold., I had my flu shot in Oct. this is nuts. I hope you well get really well now and start enjoying life agtain. no fun being so ill. but I just want to say I am so glad you decided to quit smoking. hugs from hatley

Glad you're home & feeling better kiddo! You were missed a lot! I wouldn't be surprised if the stress from the BF was a contributing factor. Stress certainly leads to exhaustion which didn't help. Is he gone?
@bunnybon7 (50973)

no hes not gone but we've straightened out a few things about my stress factor and why i got sick. everyone knows that after this, things are going to change here. hes on a short leash and he knows it. probably wont be long he will get into trouble again, but im not going to suffer it any more and daughter knows, the whole thing scared the kids up. plus they are all getting over whatever it is themselves now so things are pretty quiet around here except for everyone taking care of their own sickness. im not going to let it bother me so much any more. i have my phone back and im keeping it. if he wants to make waves, he will end up where and how he deserves to be.
