I had a great time on New Year's Eve and I promised some pictures!

Me on New Year's Eve with my eyes closed in every - I am on the big blue couch hanging in there after a long drive. Trying to drink a beer..not too crazy about them really...I was waiting until a little later to have mixed drinks. I knew I wouldn't make it until midnight if I started too early on those.

I am having a hard time deciding which one to share but I think I have decided. We had drove 6 hours to go to this place where some musicians we know were having their show. We were invited a couple of month prior but it was in the final two weeks that we decided to go. The thing is that I haven't celebrated the eve of the New Year in a very long time and I thought that it might be great to do something different....safely of course. When we got there I was thrilled with this blue couch that lined an entire wall of the club. It was amazing..lol..something I have only really seen on TV. I had to have my picture on it. I am not used to staying up late and certainly not used to staying up late with a drink after a very long drive...but I was a trooper. The only problem is that EVERY single picture I had taken of me....MY EYES WERE CLOSED! I had a friend here that said it was just because of all the good feelings and emotion. So have you ever had a picture session where every photo of you has your eyes closed? Why do you think your eyes were closed in them. Do you have a trick to keep your eyes open during a photo? Do you have to think about it?

Well I am not like you. If you ever see a picture with me and my eyes are closed then that mean I was sleeping when the picture was taken. For me though when I pose for the camera I hardly look into the camera, so the flash hardly bothers me. i would either be looking at something in the sky or something on the ground or maybe something beside the camera. It is only then that I really feel that the picture will look good because by looking somewhere else, it gives the picture a certain type of effect like you were caught off guard, but to me it looks great. Well I really dont know if that can help you or if you are willing enough to do it. But it all depends on how you want the picture to turn out. The only time you will see me staring into the camera is if I am taking a ID picture or a family picture or some other kind of formal photo. You get what I mean?

Heyya Renhard! I usually don't have any trouble keeping my eyes open..lol...maybe it was the flash in the dark that made me blink. I was pretty tired too. Maybe the next time I am celebrating I will try not to pay attention to the camera...I did want to pose on the big blue couch though. Thanks for the advice!

Thanks Sarah! It's not our fault...it's the photographer. He was waiting until I blinked.

Wow! You look really pretty there and the blue seat is just so cool! I love the color and a you just sitting there looking great with that happy face just makes the photo heart-warming in a way. Anyway, I have had the same photo-sessions problem last time. it was a day with my girlfriend, while we were just hanging out we decided to take photos together using our phones but since the flash of those things really attacks my sensitive eyes, almost all of our photos had my eyes shut in them. We were laughing at it and I just really looked funny in them with my eyes closed. Despite the effort to open my eyes after the flash I failed to at most of them.

I couldn't have a picture taken that night without having my eyes shut..lol...I think it might have been the photographer's fault..he was waiting until I blinked...lol. That blue couch was the coolest! It waved across the entire wall. I had seen couched like that in clubs on movies but never in real life. Thanks for responding!

I think I do have a little Irish in me. My grandmother an her sisters all had the Indian hair and skin while her brothers were all red headed with light skin and freckles. I guess I am a mixture of things really...a heinz 57 so to speak. My daughter has the cat green eyes and auburn hair. She looks very Irish. I will have to post a recent picture of her too soon. Thanks for responding!

I also get peeved to see my pictures with my eyes closed and that is because of the flash. The light just forces me to close my eyes. But when I do it myself with the 'auto' on I know when the flash gets on and I am careful but when I force to keep my eyes wide open then it is another story - an unnatural expression indeed!

Well, I have quite a few pictures with my eyes closed. It is because I don't like the flash going off in my eyes, especially those "double" flashes that are supposed to prevent red-eye. Afterwards then I tend to get spots in front of my eyes that can often last for ages and I get to feel quite disoriented. I will always ask them not to use flash - most digi cameras these days, will take acceptable photos without flash.. Or is it because I am being a killjoy? I guess I don't care! I generally tell them to go take someone else's photo! _Derek

Running off the camera man huh? How are we going to make you a celebrity one day if you keep running then off? I really wanted my picture taken on that wavy blue couch It was the coolest! Normally I am not one to want my picture taken either though. Just certain moments I guess. Thanks for the response!

That's a great pic of you. I say that it should be your new profile pic. You seriously look like a teenager, Jen. AND your eyes aren't really shut...just a little tiny bit slitted. As for me, I have trouble looking at the camera. There are very few photos where my hair is not in my face and even fewer where I would be looking at the camera.

Thanks Ms. Hatley! I haven't been out in a hundred years and although it was a very good time, I probably won't be enjoying the night life again for a while..lol...work and school will consume me again. I am hoping since it was the way I brought in the New Year that there will be a little more fun in store for me in 2012.

That pic, Jen, is far too cute (look like a little teeny-bopper) to worry about eyes half-mast! You needed that "time-out" accompanied by a little libation and your great bf..to let some of the stressors in late 2011 FLY! Good on you GIRL, glad you "kicked up those heels" and released the pressure valve...works wonders, once in a while! I truly think it is the Flash, and the anticipation, thereof, as 3 summers ago, at a Family get-together (of my somewhat disjointed family) sadly, in ALL the posed pictures...eyes closed! Unexpected snaps...eyes open...so consequently I ruined all the "family" pics! Just me..no-one else--eye's closed or half-mast! Thank you for the wonderful vid clips you shared! Blue couch...wonderful backdrop for...you guessed it...RAINBOWS! Luv ya!

That certainly can be a problem. I have a grandkid that closes her eyes everytime there is a photo taken. So I have to surprise her. I don't ever think about what my eyes are doing with a photo is taken.....and I have never had a bunch where my eyes are closed on everyone! LOL.....you silly girl. How did you accomplish that? LOL

I don't know! I think he was waiting to get me when I blinked. I was very tired after the drive though. Not used to the night life...lol. maybe that was it. I usually don't have trouble with keeping them open....it was probably because I promised my friends here a picture of my night out.

Well, one thing i need to mention here is that i think you do need to get out more. lol I think when you are moving and having a good time it is difficult for the camera operator to catch you with eyes open. And we all have to blink occasionally. i don't think it is our fault. Those photo takers need to be more observant.

That's right! Those photographers need to be more attentive to their subjects Especially when there is a big blue couch involved that I had to have my picture taken on!

The camera we had before the one we're using now had a flash that disturbed a lot of people. Not only would it make people close their eyes, but it would also disturb other people not in the picture as well. It took a while before I got used to it. But it also made me get a new one, so I didn't have to worry about it. It also minimized the not-so-good pictures of the kids.

The camera can have a lot to do with it...I have been blaming the camera man though..lol. We do need a new camera too though. It was dark in there and I guess the flash got me everytime. All my pictures from that night look that way!

hi dear Jen it happened at our wedding. Took place in September 2005 a nd it was a very hot sunny day. Our marriage witness said he could take the pics and he had bought a new digital camera anyways. It was in my old hometown where the weddings are performed in a nice old building and theres a lovely park. Many couples go there cause of the lovely perfect scenery. Our marriage witness has done all the pics with me just blinking into the sun so my eyes were closed too. None of these pics was good enough to use for the Thank You notes and we were soo lucky that a friend of mine had turned up for the church wedding some days later and made a pic afterwards so we could take this for the notes. LOL

That was actually pretty early in the evening so I was still straight as an arrow too. Now later...I did get a little tipsy but I am not really one to get drunk..especially not in a place I am not familiar with. I did have a great time though. I had drove 6 hours and used to getting up very very early so that might have been part of the reason. My b/f was waiting until I blinked to snap the pictures too...it's all his fault Thanks for the response and welcome to myLot!
