Ligament injury in the knee.

It looks like I'll be home for at least a couple of days, resting up my injured knee. I guess it wasn't enough to have fractured bones 3 times in the last 18 months, I had to go and sprain ligaments now.
This morning there was black ice outside, and I didn't even know it. I went to take Jazz for a walk since he couldn't go out in the backyard. We didn't make it out far enough for him to do his business.
I slipped on the black ice and fell on my right hip, but my left leg went flying the wrong direction, probably behind me, and that's when the ligaments were sprained. I felt pain in my hip as well, but that hasn't bothered me as much as my knee.
I knew I was in trouble, so I managed to get my phone out of my pocket(never leave home without it!) and called my roommate to help me. I was glad he was home, otherwise I would have been in big trouble.
He grabbed Jazz's leash and let him off of it, then got me up off the ground. He walked me to the middle of the road where there was no ice and walked after Jazz.
I got home and sat on the couch and just put my leg up. I was not going anywhere for the time being. I called my boss and left her a message about what had happened, so she knew I probably wouldn't be working today because of this.
I sat there for another hour or so, looking up ligament injuries, trying to figure out which one I would have damaged. When I read about it, I knew which one I had gotten.
The pain wasn't getting any better and my knee was starting to swell and get cold, so I made a call to the health line. I was told to go to the hospital immediately. And that's exactly what I did.
I wasn't surprised about what I was told, but I was surprised at how many people were there because they fell on ice like I did. But most who fell fractured something, so I was lucky in that case.
I sprained the LCL and possibly nicked the meniscus ligament as well, but there was no fracture to the fibula head, which the dr. was worried about. That was a good sign for sure. The thought of having to wear a full leg cast for the rest of winter was not looking like a good thing at all.
I had an appointment booked for the fracture clinic, they had to book it for tomorrow morning, which is going to be a tricky trip for me. I have to get up the hill to the bus stop without falling, and I know it's going to be extremely slick in the morning when I go. I need to make sure that I don't fall again.
Hopefully a few days of rest will help me. I was supposed to deliver a fridge on Friday, and now I'm not sure if I'll be able to do so now. I hope I still can.
It doesn't look like the ligaments are torn, if they were, I'd need surgery and I wouldn't want to go through that, so I'm praying that I don't get told that when I go.
Here's hoping.

I have never hurt any ligaments or fractured anything so I don't know how it really feels, but I had a friend who was a high school counselor and wrestling coach who did pull and ACL and he was on crutches for months. I don't remember if he had a cast or not as this was back in about '78 before I graduated high school. I don't know how you keep getting all these injuries (this one was from ice, but what about the rest???). How did this one turn out? I hope that you are in good shape now. Have a great week!!!

I've developed some arthritis in that knee, but it healed ok. It still bothers me sometimes, but otherwise there have been no other problems with it.

wow Kris what rotten luck but if they are not torn then you will not need surgery. I fell last Feb.15th and twisted my right knee, no torn ligaments but it hurt so bad I could not walk on it.ended up in rehab
hospital for 20 days but see I am 85 so you are much younger and hopefully you will not be laid up near that long. b ack ice is so treacherous. when I was in my twenties I was running across campus to a class and fell on my tail bone and fractured it. oh my pain wow. and I had to carry a cushion arou nd to all my classes. there is no way to set a broken tail b one. lol that was really some fun I hope your injury is not too severe and does not put uou down for a long
time. Also hope you are given something for p ain as there will be pain too.I hope all turns out well for you. hugs from hatley do you\
have some one to walk with you or better yet take you to gthe fracture clinic? hope so. do think about it.

I wound up taking the bus up there. My other roommate was supposed to work for me today, but he wound up not going out. I would have asked him, but if he'd been called for work, it would have been challenging.
But now I'm home, was a safe journey, the bus drivers were all so respectful of me on my crutches and made sure that I was safe getting on and off each bus. I just wish the passengers had more respect, but they didn't.
I wound up with a knee immobilizer. Very annoying, especially since I need it for a week to 10 days. But I may not need it that long, that's what I'm hoping for.

Lucky for you that you were able to call your roommate. I hope that you'll get better soon, can you still walk? or can move your legs? or bend? It's not an easy feeling being injured. Just make sure that no other fracture has been done, But as you said, no other fracture that's good. Going to your appointment is going to be hard, ask someone to help you, so that you'll be safe on your way. Get well soon.
