What a relief.

Went through a difficult time trying to get setup with our new ISP and cable, but it was worth it in the end.
At 3pm, the tech showed up. He said he needed to check the lines and install stuff. I turned around and suddenly he was gone. He simply drove off.
I wondered about this, I thought maybe the dogs scared him off and that he wouldn't come back.
So I got on the phone to Bell to figure out why he left. I tried 3 times, actually 4 by the time it was done.
First time I accidentally hung up. The 2nd and 3rd time, they hung up on me while attempting to transfer my call.
The 4th time, I finally got through without anyone hanging up on me. But they had no idea what was going on.
My guess is that a tech had come by earlier, but didn't even bother coming to the door to say that he wasn't going to install the services. I was told that a tech had said that, but it wasn't the one who had come by I guess.
Whatever the case was, the guy did come back, and got everything installed. It took hours as he had to drill through a couple of walls in order to run the lines in. But he had to find where everything was coming from in the first place.
It took forever to get the cable set up, the channels just weren't loading on the boxes. But they finally got there.
When we finally got the internet, I was floored by the speed, it was extremely fast. But it has slowed a bit, but I was told when I called that the installation wasn't 100% complete, and that the speed issue should be resolved by tomorrow.
My roommate thought that maybe they had put us on a slower speed connection, but when I called, they did say that we had the package that we had ordered.
Any way I look at it, it is better than what we used to have with the throttled service we were suffering with.
Our other roommate doesn't know that we've left and are not using his internet service, but eventually we'll tell him. Then he'll know that we were all suffering and actually believe us for once.
Even when I go towards the bedroom, the speed still stays high, so that's a good thing. It could mean that I can set up my old laptop in the bedroom and my husband can watch stuff in there while I watch something on tv if need be.
At least he'll learn how to use a laptop and get some use out of that one. I would have put it up for sale, but since he wants to watch some shows online, he'll be able to do so, and I'll still have my own laptop to use when I need it.

I know the feeling of relief when you finally get your own high speed Internet connection. You feel on top of the world for a couple of days.
But then you start to notice the strange things that happen. Firefox wont download at anywhere near full speed, yet your torrent client is racing! And mylot is still slow! Odd things like that which nobody can explain.
Then after a month, you've looked at, and downloaded, everything under the sun. Your daughter keeps saying, "I'm bored. What shall I do on the Internet?"
And you don't have an answer because you are bored yourself.
That's life!

Lol, well I don't have any kids, so I don't have to worry about that.
And I try not to download much as it's caused trouble in the past.
But we'll see what happens with it.

It must feel really good to have everything up and functional. You will not know what to do with all the speed and reliability.

I'm getting used to the speed, now that we've got what we're supposed to get. It's so much better than before. Well worth the upgrade.
