zante - zante paradise and the shripwreck

My wonderful fiancée and I have decided that we are going on holiday this year and I am so excited!! Our holiday destination had been Paris.. but after looking up the cheapest, but nicest, and further away, yet closest, hotels to the city centre.. and the flights as well, and tickets for tours of the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame Cathedral etc.. we were looking at about £1500 for the holiday. Not bad for the 2 of us for a week in Paris I thought.. but my partner wasn’t convinced.. so off to the travel agents we went to compare prices. It was at the travel agents that we found out that you cannot get package holidays to Paris. It is classified as a city break, meaning flights, accommodation, and tours are all separate in cost, hence why it costs quite so much! And that if we wanted to go to Paris, the best thing we could do, would be to book a “city break” .. which is generally 3 days in Paris, where the accommodation and tours have deals on, so they are cheaper, and you get to see everything in a short space of times and your meals are included, and you just book your flights separately. FANTASTIC! .. that was that sorted. We’ll do that sometime instead, but what about our lengthy holiday we wanted? So we had to start over.. and we decided on Greece! .. and at the suggestion of the Travel agent we settled on Zante, a greek island. Let’s see how much this will cost! 2 people. 10 nights. Flights from Belfast to London in the morning. A whole day in London to go shopping. Then late night flight from London to Zante, getting in in the early hours of the morning, meaning we can go to sleep for a while and be refreshed for our first day. The whole 10 nights accommodation all paid for. Then flights from Zante to London. Another cool day in London to go sight seeing. Then London to Belfast, getting us in at early evening.. which means plenty of time to un-pack and rest. And the cost? £880 .. for BOTH OF US!! Now I think that’s a deal and a half :) What do you think of the price comparison? And what do you think about our decision?

Sounds like you got a great last minute deal there. The Greeks will be over the moon to see you as they need a few extra tourists to help them out of the mess their in. I hope you both have a fab time and get to do Paris another time. Paris is a wonderful city and I have done the city break with the whistle-stop tour of all the main attractions. The food is magnifique aussi. Bon Voyage! x

it wasn't last minute.. we aren't even going until september lol! and it's costing £118 each just for our return flights to london lol, so that's how cheap the actual holiday was on its own! i would love to eventually get to paris, but as others have said above, paris will still be there.. may as well make the most of an actual break, an actual holiday, and use paris for what it was intended for at a later stage, a romantic little break :)

we aren't going until september.. i think it's the 6th we fly out, and we stay for 10 nights, and fly home on the 11th. but it's 12 days altogether, because we have that whole day in london too. very excited. and yes i guess that is one thing to be sure off.. paris will always be there :)
