Great Inspiration for me

I was at the gym the other day and found one little old man to be a great inspiration. I would see him running on the track almost every day that I was there. Let me start by saying he wears a shirt that reads "31 model, made in Japan...still runs". I have seen many older people who were active so that by itself is impressive enough. One day recently, I actually talked to him and he told me that he did something special on his 81st birthday (apparently just a few days or weeks before I had talked to him). He decided to start running 4 miles instead of 3. That almost made me feel bad because it is all I can do to walk for 2 miles. That is enough to make me want to keep pushing no matter how much it hurts. So far it hasn't hurt, but I think you get my meaning. Is there someone who does something that inspires you to do more. (Marguicha, don't use me because I know that would be your response)

My husband is actually the person that inspires me to do more. You see, he went through chemotherapy and radiation in the last year and yet he was able to work through it all when there are a lot of people that take a leave of absense from their jobs. It is seeing him do that which has inspired me to try to do what I'm able to do to help our family out even more than I've been doing. You see, I've been a stay at home mother for our children for the last five years.

I would find that impressive as well. But you have a lot of strength as well to be able to deal with it all. I'm glad that things are going well and I hope that continues.

I agree there are many people older then me who can out walk me. Its amazing to see how healthy some people are at an older age. I'm a senior citizen, so when I'm saying older you know we mean 80's and 90's.

I have seen many other older people walking around the track or riding the bikes as well. I'm sure they all have their story. I think the ones that really impress me even more than that guy are the people who are using their canes because of having had a stroke or something. They aren't fast, but at least they want to keep moving. I think anyone who wants to do that is worth being impressed by. Thanks for the response!

Wow, actually the only person I have to found to be an inspiration in my life is probably my mom and my grandmother. To me they are probably the two strongest persons I know. Not even my dad is as strong as them. I don't mean physically alone that also includes emotionally and spritually. My mom has been the biggest inspiration, she has been through some tough times and has always managed to get not only herself out of it, but me when I was younger. Somedays I saw the anger, sadness and fraustration in her face, when I was young I didn't comprehend it but now that I am in her shoes, with two beautiful kids of my own and I know exactly what she went through. Luckily for me I have my husband that loves and supports me in every way possible, but for her was different she was alone with me and it was tuff. She was and still is my #1 inspiration.

Wow daeckardt, what an inspiration...I go to the gym ever now and then...because of my back injury its really hard for me to walk for too long...and all I do is the threadmill and the stationary bikes... I got a lot of inspiration when I was going through the chemo..B/4 I had the cancer I had never even given it a thought about how rapid cancer was...But once going to the facility for treatment it was truly an inspiration to see ssssoooooo many women and men coming there with the will to live and, continued to work and carry on...I never got to the stage where I didn't want to live but I sure as hell didn't have the energy to go back to work...But thats when I was informed about the different types of chemo..some treatments were much more intense than others...some was what I called a harder treatment.... But after being there amongst those other patients old and young I was surely inspired to get through the treatment and come out on the winning end....Right now 'I AM WINNING"....
