I am a health professional, I work with peoples health and I connot begin to tell you about how I feel with so many crazy things people do with their lives! We all know we have to eat well, especially in the morning. The first meal is the one that will define your entire day. That is a cientificley proven fact and I emphasize it with all my strength. You have to eat well when you wake up or else you won't have the necessary nutrients and energy for your day. Are you having a stressful day? Not feeling well through out the week? Check your eating habits! Eat well in the morning!

Hi there Universe, I'm not much of a breakfast eater. My metabolism is such that it really does not affect my day in any way. I eat when I'm hungry and that is it. I do not lack for energy at all and I'm healthy as can be. I am almost 56 and I can't even recall the last time I was really sick. I haven't missed a days work in years and years. I have never ever been one for breakfast unless it's at night. A couple of times a year, I eat it when getting together with the family.

I also think it is good to have heavy breakfast and not to skip breakfast in the morning. I like having dosa or idili in the morning.

Thanks universe. That is a tip I needed to be reminded of. I have poor eating habits and especially in the morning when I get up. I normally don't even think about eating on the weekdays until about eleven or so and on weekends it's usually even later than that. When I'm fixing my mom's lunch, I get hungry and prepare something for my breakfast. I have got to start eating better. Thanks again!

Hi universe206 This was one of my goals for this year. I eat either a bagel with cream cheese, or oat meal or cottage cheese with fruit depending on the day and how hungry I am. Usually before it was just coffee or cookies, soft pretzel or donuts or what ever is around. Now I am making a conscious effort to eat well in the morning. Thanks Unique16

That is just great. People come to me and say they can't eat in the morning. It's not something you are born with, it's something you get used to. You have to eat well in the morning and thats that!

Thanks for that reminder. I admit, I don't eat well in the morning. I just take bread and a cup of coffee just to get started immediately on my online work. I thought that's already enough, but thanks, you reminded me of the lessons thought to us by our elementary teachers when we were just kids. Thanks!

Bread is good, try putting some fruit and yogurt, which is great for your digestive system!

Eggs are great! They have many nutrients and protein, for someone who is in their growth stage, it is great! Avoid oils and fried foods.

Good points mentioned. Take note of what you are eating and drinking before you go into panic mode over a non-threatening ailment. I think most of us are not eating as well as we should in the morning as we are almost always in a rush in the morning, so one want's something quick and not always healthy for us.

Yes, I usually do try and eat very healthy in the morning. Because I am diabetic it is more important for me to focus on protein in the morning so unless my blood sugar is very low I usually don't eat fruit in the morning. I usually will eat eggs or an egg sandwich or some Cheerios. When I eat fruit it is usually in the middle of the day so that my body has time to work the sugar from it through my system way before bed time.

Hi universe, I do understand that eating in the morning before we start work or anything, it is an extremely important part of our life. Even though it is important, many of us don't follow. In my family, i have told my mum many times that we should change our habits, and instead of eating a heavy dinner, we should instead start to eat heavy breakfast because it's good for our health and this would help us start our day right. However, she refused cause she find that it has been the habit of the house too long for this to change. But i think i should take on a more passive role on this thing because i shouldn't simply rely everything on her. And yes, I really need to check my eating habits. In addition, i sleep late at night and all the more it is important for me to get my eating habits right.

A heavy dinner is not recomended! It makes your body work at night and that makes you sleep less!

Yes. I have learnt that having a heavy dinner is definitely not something that is good. U mean if we eat a heavy meal we'll sleep less?

Yes, if you eat heavy foods ( pasta, meat, soup), your body will have a more difficult time entering the R.E.M. fase of sleep, which is the most important fase, in which you actually rest. Try eating liquids, like a milkshake just with fruits and milk, or some bread and tea.

I am having a difficult time to adjust my eating desire with eating in the morning time. It's hard for me to eat well in the morning. I don't even drink milk or coffee in the morning time. I just don't have appetite. Eating in the morning time was a nightmare, I even am sick of seeing people eating in the morning time. Knowing your your information was quite important for me and eating in the morning then should be a must for my body. Anyway, thank you for bringing this topic on mylot and have a nice day.

Thank you that you remind me how imprtant is breakfast. Unfortunately, that's probably one of the most dificult thing to do, because morning is the time to sleep for me. Probably because of bad breakfast I feel sleepy and without energy even if I sleep well.

I eat well in the morning,I guess.hehe.. But there are times that I easily get full when I eat. But I never skip my my meal in the morning.Just dinner, but not most of the time. When I come home from school and i feel very tired,I fell asleep without realizing that I haven't eaten my dinner yet. There are also times when I skip my lunch and eat plenty in the evening.

I think breakfast is the food that we have to eat heavy in the morning and we should eat breakfast regularly to get enough nutrients and energy for the rest of the day. I think it is good to have different dishes on different days as breakfast. I also agree with the policy of eating well in the morning.

I use to have a membership at 24 Hour Fitness and the trainers would regularly tell me not to skip breakfast. I enjoy a bowl of Cheerios or oatmeal with some fruit and a glass of juice. Day is usually better when I have eaten breakfast. Its not the meal to skip. I'll admit I'm not good about eating breakfast on the weekends need to work harder at eating every meal.

Very true! Breakfast is the most important meal of the day! The Saying goes:Eat like a king in the morning, like prince at lunch and like a beggar at supper. That is how your body will feel best, that is what your body needs.Best is to have some protein with your breakfast(eggs) so it will keep you full for longer.Add some fruits,yogurt... Go easy on the breads, muffins, bagels, cereal.the more of that you eat,the more you will crave...

Try exercising to make your body build muscle. you want to get bigger with muscle and not with fat right? Yogurt, whole bread, non-industrialized foods. Avoid sugar, soda pop, eat lots of fruit and meat, pasta and other natural foods.

Hi and how nice to be able to chat here with an actual health professional whose willing to elaborate on the effects of eating improperly in the morning. I think that might be the cause of my relative's mood swings. He actually never eats breakfast or lunch I'm told, then comes home and eats all sorts of junk after dinner. Then he has these crazy mood swings where he thinks everyone is lower than himself and he's better, etc, etc. Yells at people, just annoying and rude. You hit the nail on the head here. But try to talk to him about eating right and it's trying to nail jello to a wall, it just won't ever ever happen sorry to say. Not at his age of 44, and never changing attitude.

Coming home and eating junk food for dinner is like constructing a bomb, one screw at a time. It is just a matter of time before his body completley stops operating due to the lack of quality materials! I hope he does change his mind!

Yes I do my best to eat well every morning to get some energy and strength for daily stressful and tiring day. I always make sure to eat healthy foods in the morning because during afternoon my food was not quite healthy and I dont have a choice but to take it or else I will get hungry throughtout the day. Having healthy breakfast helped me to lose weight and maintained a good digestions. Thanks for the discussion. :)
