I lived in a section of the city called Little Burgundy all my life, then I moved out of the area. Last year the people of the community had their first reunion picnic I was invited to go but I was sick that day and didn't show up.
Apparently they had a successful event and people asked the organizers to do it again this year.
However, last year they had over 200 people and the city told them if they were going to have that many people again this year they will have to get a license.
So a few days ago one of the organizers asked me to if I would contribute 5.00 towards this years event. I don't know if I will go but told them I would contribute the 5.00 I think it is a worry cause.
Have you ever contributed to an event that you were not sure you would attend but felt it was a worthwhile cause?

Sure. I love my city and I donate to all kinds of things when I can. We have Art in the Park, Soul Food, Fun Runs, and all sorts of things. I put in some money if I know people that are participating and it is usually a good cause. There are so many of them that I have to put my foot down. lol

this activity for us has nothing to do with the city it is just a bunch of all friends trying to get together and reconnect that is why I thought it was a good cause. If I go I will be seeing people I haven't seen in 50 years

Oh yes I have donated time, refreshments and even money to events that I think are worthwhile. I think that donating the $5 is great. Mostly organizations here sell tickets. If you go it is great if not, it is still a worthwhile cause. I hope you get to attend.

I could cite an example stupid that I had to participate and at the end because of the unexpectedly could not attend.
It was New Year's 1999/2000 was to celebrate the interior of a community and I initially persuaded to go there, I paid a sum.
Eventually, as the time my brother was little and had to be cared for at home of my grandparents. So I was called to celebrate the occasion at home of my grandparents. So no party in the community, even though I had paid. But I was also glad to have made my contribution.

yes if it helps people out it is a good cause regardless of if we can attend or not.

It is a strange thing to say that reunion picnic must get a license.Do they hold an assembly? The city makes a mountain out of a molehill. So many people,I can imagine there was an air of excitement on the picnic.

Here in our barrio,we are preparing our place to keep clean and have a proper waste disposal segregation, for the reason that the region will conduct their visit and inspecting all barrios ,whether we abey their rules and regulations regarding the waste materials...Happy to note, that we are finished with the visiting, and positive is their response...Happy happy result indeed........

There have been many times that I have found myself donating time or money to things that I felt was a worth while cause. Especially if it was for something that I strongly believed in. I know around here they are always having Events and fund raisers for certain things. Many times I find myself helping anyway I can as I feel it is worth helping out someone else for sure.

Our local events often sell buttons, and I will buy one, whether I am going or not. It is fun memorabilia, and supports the ongoing activity.

yes it is great, but this event was not organized by community organizers such ordinary people. Maybe they will get into the idea of doing it as well too.

Many a time did I make contributions within my limits to those noble causes.Though inconveniences would keep you off from active participation it is always worthwhile extending whatever support you could afford to provide for the society,s good deeds. Best of luck.

No. When I devote time and/or money to something, I attend the event--even if I'm not feeling well. When I've had some involvement in an event, I like to see how the event goes; the best way for me to do that is to be there.
Hopefully, you will have the opportunity to attend this event. Of course, $5 is a small amount to help to ensure the success of something in which you believe.
