I really worry about uploading my photo..

Hai friends....
I want to share some feelings here...I like to show my picture to my friends in orkut and face book...But I have no courage to do that...I worry about that If any one will publish my photo by editing through net..My family members and friends are not allowing me to publish my photo through internet....What about you friends???

HI Dassodils,
I can understand your feelings about posting your photos in social network... as we have a different culture, I don't fear posting my photos... as long as I am wearing decent clothes then for me it's okay to post my photos. So, am I looking at a celebrity on this avatar you have here on myLot?

I know what you uploaded here in myLot also not your photo. For me, I don't care uploading a decent photo in any of the site. After all, if we keep a nice photo, no one would prefer to damage your future by doing the morphing or anything like. The apt reason is that those who doing the same and looking for such things have a great lot of other photos here in the net that they can use for.

I don't thik anything too much worried on this. There are millions of people are using various sites and upoading their photos on the net. It is not a compulsory factor that you need to upload your photo also. If you got your school photo or a photo at the age of 12-13 also will be good enough to upload. As you are from Trichur and aged above 18, why so bothered? We Malayalies are not so cared on such things and if you really want to do it, keep it for few days and remove it later. Saifudheen MS seems a name of boy and why should scared of your parents? Some muslim parents won't like it. So make them to unserstand. If they are still don't allow, listen to them and when you become totally independent, go for it. But, mind it people are not so keen to spoil everyone's name in such a way that they will dedicatedly do it. There may be one or two out of millions. However, they won't come and search for you specifically on certain grounds. So, the decision is of yours and we are helpless in this regard.

HI Dassodils: I don't see anything dangerous about uploading your picture if you are very cautious with your privacy. Just don't add people you don't know as your friends. Otherwise they'll have access to your personal information and also restrict the information of your profile so only your friends can see your personal information including your pictures.

If you want to share your photo to your beloved friend then it should be ok. Do that using popular email services like Gmail, Yahoo, etc. Try to avoid uploading your photo to any social networking sites. Most of the youngsters are coming to social networking sites only to chat with girls. So, be aware of that fact and avoid it. I never upload my photo on net before even though I am working online as a part timer for more than five years.

I agree with parkavithai. The internet can be a dangerous place and it is better to remain anonymous. Real friends in real life can see your beautiful face in person, those that don't know you in real life, don't need to see you.

I too don't upload photos much on FB or orkut there is always a fear in me if someone may misuse these
.I have seen albums of lot of people on FB that has given me the courage and that's the reason i have uploaded some of my as well as by kids' photos but that's for sure you are never safe on net always there ia a risk.

You can make limitation to the access. Make it only your specific friend that can access. Or just make it in very small resolution and not a close up picture.
Make it really difficult to edit.

I have not encountered any problems in uploading my pictures in facebook, because i only upload those that are decent enough, i do not upload pictures that would provoke someone to steal it and use it on some other sites, like sexy pictures. I do not upload such. When uploading in facebook, you could control who you want to share the photos with using the privacy settings. i am not familiar with orkut.

You don't have to be afraid in posting your pictures online like orkut or facebook there features of that site in which you can choose who will see everything you post on your profile try that functionality of the site.Secondly there are ways that you can do so that they won't be able to post your pictures online be creative.There are photo editing sites for free which you can use to add stickers, texts or trademarks on your photo that way it will be very hard for some photo grabbers to grab your photos and post it online too. :)

Dassodils : I am no sure whether orkut and facebook are places where young girls can post their photos. I will not recommend. that is accessible to lakhs of people and out of them even if one person happens to be a bad person then the girl will be affected.

I am also thinking this before, that even if we don't upload our photos on either of the many social networking sites, those bad people if they want to edit photos of their target victim, they have a thousands of ideas on how to do it by a stealing shot using their cellphone while on public, or private places, or just by borrowing a picture of a victim and let it scan to a computer scanner and simply edit to their fools.
Even an album on your school graduation hard booklet they will do it, that is what i mean a thousand ways....
And that is why if a person commits a mistake, there is a law appropriate to him or her that is right fits to receive a lesson.

I have a lot of pictures I uploaded on fb. I haven't encounter about what you are thinking. But yes its possible that they might bad things to your pics, but there have been a lot of pictures and even videos online but no one did bad things. Otherwise if you have enemy,.......

Please do not upload your photo. For men it is ok. not for women. For all practical purposes I take the avatar given by you as your photo and am proceeding.

Well as long as the site I'm putting it on I can control who can and can't see it then I would do it. I know on facebook when I put up pictures of me and my family I make it private to only me and people I'm friends with and those people I'm friends with are family and they all have kids too so they won't copy them and put them online and let other people do things with them.

I doesn't care it much but I doesn't allow my sisters and my cousins (especially girls) to share their images. face book and Orkut tells us that no one can take our images when we upload it. But really we can get all the images on the social network with less efforts. Even a a teen aged child can get those photos if he knew the trick.
My question is why we are taking such risks ?
I think it is better not to uload such images than taking such risks
