You might have experience seeing some parents who won't really allow their kids to take anything sweet especially at night time when they would be sleeping later on. They say kids won't be able to sleep if they would have sweets at late night becase they would have a sugar rush. I'm not quite sure if this is true but i have heard this several times already from different people. In a way i think there might also be some truth about this because in a way eating sweets while feeling hungry could make you stop feeling your hunger. I have also observed that i easily get full when eating something sweet like chocolates. Maybe there might be some connection about it and experiencing sugar rush. What can you say about this? Do you also believe in sugar rush? Should kids avoid eating sweets especially at night to avoid this? Thanks for sharing guys.

Yes there is such a thing! I get a suger rush after I drink a frozed coffee drink! I get a boust of extra engery for alittle while! I can get that way when I sometimes eat to much chocolate! Same goes with kids! Some can handle their suger but some don't every well! So some kids have to stay away from suger! Otherwise some kids are hard to settle down on when on a sugar rush!

hi cyclopz I don't know about night but I worked in the childrens section of the library and the children's librarian always gave them a sack of candy after story hour.well in a half hour those kids got the damned sugar rush and were acting like monkeys climbing up onto shelves to get books to toss at each other, I and the moms were trying to make them behave but it was a lost cause., too much candy they were out of control really I believe in the sugar rush as I have seenn.,

well there is a such thing as a sugar rush such as from simple carbs which is stuff like soft drinks or kool aid. it won't keep kids up though if they are really tired like caffeine will.

It is just like an adult drinking alot of coffee or pop before bed. Sugar will give a short rush. If you don't believe it try it.

Yes, we experience sugar rush when take in too much sweets which our pancreas could no longer handle. Our pancreas releases insulin to normalize our blood sugar level. But it can't handle too much that's why we become over-active or agitated.

Yes...sugar rush is possible for anyone and everyone. When we consume simple or refined carbohydrates like sugar we experience a 'spike' in our glucose. A few hours later we can expect to 'crash' when our blood sugar drops...so...then we crave more sugar. That's a potential problem for anyone who could have a tendency toward symptoms of type 2 diabetes. It also leads to elevated triglyceride levels. If we want to stabilize we can consume low carb proteins.

It depends on the person and it depends on how it affects their system. Some people are more prone to the affects of sugar than others. Honestly, I have never had this problem.

For sure! I know that it works for me. When I'm feeling kind of sluggish, even after having some caffeine, I have a sugary drink like an apple juice and I am all over the place! It wakes you up - I promise you it exists! For example, my little 9 year old sister had some Oreo cookies and some ice cream before I went to visit her, and you should have seen how she was bouncing off the walls! Oh man! She was nuts! LOL. Definitely avoid giving kids sweet treats if you expect them to go to sleep at a reasonable time. I mean, in the middle of the day it's OK, but at night..I would definitely avoid this. I think with adults though it depends on how tolerant you are for sugar. If you tend to eat & drink a lot of sugar, it doesn't have quite the same affect on you. Happy MyLotting!

Even though I don't get affected by sugar, I've seen what it does to others lol. When I would babysit, they would want to have their dessert and if it was really sugary, they'd get a little hyper and silly. The same thing happens to my boyfriend sometimes too. We went out for a burrito and then got ice cream last week and he went nuts after. He got really silly and giggly just from having some ice cream lol

None of my kids or foster kids have a thing like this. Also not with other kind of food or drinks. Same with me. But this doesn't mean it would not exist. We all are different and respond different on what we eat. If people can get allergic reactions because of some kind of food they can get a sugar rush too.

There is definitely such as thing as sugar rush. I think kids are more sensitive because of their smaller bodies. They also have less inhibitions, so they run around and show the signs of the sugar high more so than adults. Kids should avoid it at bedtime because the rush can last for an hour or more.
