India

I observed most of Computer user touch the fingers on the screen and our fingers is oily so some spots are on the screen and looking not good. I think this is not good habit if anyone wants to show anything then dont touch the fingers on the monitor screen. What you think finger touching is good share your views any other loss from this.

Hi SR Its not wrong to touch our finger to monitor. But surely with clean hands. If our hands are not clear, means if they are oily or dirty than better we don't touch it. In these days we having touch screen available computers. So its not possible to operate them without touching.. So we just need to keep in mind that better we use it with clean hands.

I do agree with you on this matter. I dont think its good to touch screens. Even the ones that say touch screen! They seem to become compromised when this is done. And the germs will just stay there and multiply.

Are you complaining about the dirt on the screen (which is the same with the tv) or about the possibility to damage the screen? And what about all these touch-screens (cellphones, laptops, ipods, e-readers etc). Personally I don't like all those screens with fingers all over either but seems it's the future and it's already clear since ages that it's hard for many people just to show/point and not to touch.

I avoid touching the screen, I keep my hands away from it, but no matter how I try, I always end up finding fingerprints on my screen! Maybe I should be even more careful when closing the netbook. It's a pain to remove those oily spots.

In fact I like the touch screen on cellphone or something like iPad. However, I don't find it convenient to use it for laptops or computers. I still prefer to use the mouse. But it will be nice to play some games if the computer monitor is touch screen. Except for that, I don't really like to use the touch screen for computers. I love China

You are absolutely right, specially true for those screen made of liquid cristal, wich can be damaged if clean unproperly. It is never a good idea to touch the monitor of the computer or of the TV, even in the old models, even less in liquid crystal or plasma ones, besides, I also keep them covered while unused, to avoid them to dust.

Why should anyone touch monitor unnecessarily? If you do touch , it would be with a reason and also in my own case I wipe the screen every now and then, so no need to worry. My laptop is more than 2 years old and so far has been giving excellent service...

I wouldn't have really thought that it would be a bad thing to touch the monitors of our computers when most people were using CRT monitors because those were easy to clean with some Windex when the computer was turned off. However, now that most people are using LCD monitors, I don't think that it is a good thing to touch the screens of our monitors because they are more difficult to clean. I have mine set back pretty far on my desk so that my children aren't tempted to touch it, but they do do it from time to time.

When I started my first job as a computer operor was in the year 1987. I never felt to touch on the monitor. But it is natural that it may happen incidently. The laptop that I am using in office and at home also may get finger prints. When I got the laptop at home, there was a screen guard (thick plastic) which was nice. But now it is removed the sheet itself got dirty as it was pasted with selver tapes. My son and daughter uses the laptops so that it got finger prints. Even in office also, when someone come and sit neraby with some project (PPT) some of the co-workers have the hapbit of tuch on the monitor and say comments. Whatever it is, I used to clean every 3-4 days time, with wattered cotton and smere on the screen smoothly and clean with soft tissue papers. I need a clean and neat schreen and typing pad which give me satisfaction and cleanliness. Also, even the fingure prints on the monitor stay for a long time would cause fade the visibility. Even the fingure prints also is a chemical combination and it is not good to saty on the monitor for a long time and better to keep clean with soft cotton or light tissue papers without damaging it.

Some types of computers are designed to operate by touch so you really cannot say that about the screen. I do say it is good to clean the screen with an appropriate cleaner and microfiber cloth, just as you would clean your eyeglasses.

Sometimes we can't avoid touching the screen of our computer, but there screen protectors now available in the market. Even our cellphones, tablets, and even our laptop or screen monitor can have it. This is to protect the screen from scratch and dirt even oil from our fingers.
