Too many friends on Mylot?

I have sent a lot of friend requests in the past month. Now I'm not sure that was such a good idea. I'm having trouble keeping up with discussions. I feel bad because I don't have the time to comment on everyone's discussions. I always try to respond to people who have commented on my discussions, but I think I might have too many friends now. Not that that is a bad thing, my email gets loaded with 'your friend (name) has started a new discussion'. I know a lot of you have more mylot friends than I have. How do you handle all the discussions and responses?

I couldn't possibly manage to participate on all of the discussions that those on my friend list start. If that is the reason that they added me then they are going to be disappointed but there are just not enough hours in a day I respond/comment on topics that I can relate to and depending on the time that I have. I will bump into them on discussions started by others and leave a comment in their response box but I will not get to all of their discussions. Well, not today or this week but who knows that in future years, when I will no longer be working and will have more time, that I will get back to all of them. I don't delete the notifiers unless I have participated on their topic so in a few years from now they might see some of them revived. Better late than never surley?

Same here mysdianait, I only have 20 friends but still not easy to keep up in participating all discussion they've started. I notice some of my friends post over 5 discussions in a day so sometimes I just able to participate in one or two.

I have a few (did I say 'a few'? ) more than 20 and most of them are active. Only a few atart several discussion in a day but then they stay quiet for a few days too so I would be able to catch up - I would if I had time but I am on and off most days.

Now that made me laugh, mysdianait, because every time I am here I see loads of discussion responses by you! We must have the same on and off days on myLot!

hi there, i don't have that much friends here on mylot. i am just trying to keep track at their discussions, and try to respond to them. but i think it is also a good idea to have a lot of friends here. try to check on your notifications so it doesn't flood your email.

hi heresthescoop! don't feel bad if you are unable to answer or particiapte in all the discussions that your mylot friends started. it simply doesn't work that way. you either have not too many mylot friends or too much time in your hands if you can do that. lol! my rule of thumb, if i can relate to the discussion or even bring something new to it, like an idea or a different point of view, then i reply and participate in the discussion. if it is something that doesn't interest me, then i simply delete the email notification and move on to a different one. about commenting back to the comments left by friends in the discussions that i started, i try to do as much as i can to acknowledge their inputs. however, honestly speaking, there is too much happening here in mylot and in my offline life for me to accomplish such. lol! i'm sure your mylot friends will understand your situation. hope this helps. cheers!!!

I am usually on here most everyday but I have been away for a little while. My email is definitely loaded right now and I am working a little here when I can to get caught up. I usually come to mylot and got to the "friends started" tab and stay within the 5th page of discussions. It can keep you very busy if you have several active friends. Take care!

I took a break for a few days! Now I need to catch up. I do feel refreshed though. It's good to take a break once in awhile.

Hello HeresTheScoop, Yes sometimes it looks bad when there is flood of mylot mails in the inbox but there is always an option you can turn off the notification to avoid mails coming to your inbox.

I forgot that I could turn off the notifications. Hmm...I'll think about that. Having it on is a good reminder, but turning it off would let me get more done around the house!

i have many firends here on mylot so i can't answer to all discussions they are posting here and in reality i try to answer back on discussions where i can say something about the topic discussed as well...in many cases you must answer on discussions where you can really add a new view in relation to topics...

I stopped trying to do it all years ago. I know when I first started here I was all about gaining friends, but now I have 151 pending that I am not sure I will ever take out of the pending folder. I just go to my "friends started" page and go from there. I don't even pay attention to my mylot folder on my email. I would suggest you just go through the discussions by using the "friend started" folder here. You'll find a rhythm that works best for you.

You are probably the first one in Mylot to have many, many friends and feel pressured for not be able to keep up with all their discussion. Most of the friend collectors here want to have all these friends to answer on thier topic rather than respond and comment back. Good thought!!

Well there is nothing called "handle the friends". No one will force you to discuss and socialize.Whoever is posting here has a cause for posting. This is a social networking website where you make friends from different corners of the world.I guess you will hardly find anyone in this website belonging to your locality, street or your relative unless you refer them. This is something very much special about Mylot where you get to socialize with someone whom you haven't seen or met in real life. What more ,you get paid for that.As far as time management is concerned I believe even with less time also you can post on many threads.I have seen people spending less than 1 hour and commenting on more than 10 threads.Every thing is possible as long as you commit.

That's correct! As much as I wanted to respond to all of them, I cannot. Like now, I still want to post comments, but I'm already sleepy. I still have five windows open. Those are the discussions I chose, but it's so sad I need to close them for I can no longer control my eyes from winking and oh! they're already sleeping while I'm still typing.

You should never feel bad about not commenting if you don't know about the subject you can't comment and it can be time consuming maybe you could delete some people off in sure they won't take it personally.
