It Took 15 Years, But I Finally Found It!!!

The most wonderful thing happened, all thanks to the internet. I had a friend who used to host a fantastic old radio show on Easy 101 (CKOT FM 101.3) in Tillsonburg Ontario. I live in Guelph, so it's not super-easy to get the station here. Now I live in the basement (before I lived in a house) and coudln't get the station at all, till I found an app for my iPhone that plays almost every station in the world, even if it doesn't broadcast on line.
ANYWAY, my friend Roert Palmer used to play songs from this fantastic CD by Enoch Light. Lots of great old songs like Bye-Bye Blackbird, A'int She Sweet, Chicago, and The Charleston. The CD went out of print in the late 90's, around the time that Robert died, and I've been looking for it ever since. A few weeks ago I got the bright idea to go on the internet and look for it. Didn't know the title, but knew a number of songs. I googled a few of the song titles, and the CD popped up. I managed to get a used copy from someone on Amazon. Can't believe anyone who owned a copy of this CD would let it go. Unbelieveable!!
Anyway YAY!! Found it!! Have you found anything interesting, after more than a decade looking for it?

You could be right. I'm sure by the time I die, no one in the world is going to know who Enoch Light is (most young people have no taste!!!). I'll probably be buried with it. LOL

I have two stories of Finally getting what I have always wanted. Have you ever seen the Christmas special Rudolph the Red nosed Reindeer? If so, do you remember the doll who is a misfit toy? Well for years I wished that there was a way to have adoll Just like her. Then one year CVS made one. My mom drove me early to CVS and I got her. I remember crying , I mean balling tears of pure joy. My mom just held me! It was so worth the wait!
Then last year, I Finally found a Snuffleupagus plush. Do you know Sesame Street? Well if so then do you remember Big Bird has an imaginary friend named Snuffleupagus. He is a huge hairy elephant- type of animal. But only us kids and Big Bird can see him. I love him and last year I Finally found him in a plush toy. Instead of trying to get back to the store, I found him on Amazon.com!I was sooo happy. He tromped All my gifts I got last year!
So I have been lucky enough to have this happen twice!

I can't think of anything that I have found that I searched that long for. I think it is really cool that you found it though. There is one person I would like to find however, someone from my childhood that I lost contact with. She got married really young, and I don't remember what her married name was or where she lived last, we corresponded for several years but when I moved I lost her address so I was never able to forward mine to her and of course she moved right after I did. I doubt I will ever find her even on the internet but you never know these days.

I'm glad that you were able to find it. I absolutely love Amazon. I search on it for literally everything. Haven't searched for something for that long though. I'm sure with time though as it seems everything get's discounted or changed that I will eventually search for something for a very long time.I'm sure you were estatic when you got it. You should probably buy another copy just in case.

I do not think we have looked a decade for it, but I just ordered an out of print book for hubby for auto repair on one of our vehicles. He had seen it in the library but it was "permanently out of print". The girl at the bookstore said she could order it on Amazon for him when she went home, not as a book store but as a friend. He came home (I did not know he had been to the book store) and I said, "Well if it is on Amazon, I can get it with my free money (swagbucks Amazon GC), and sure enough, I got one cheaper than the one the girl found. It will be here this week. Another good site for out of print stuff is A Libris. I did get a book my daughter liked, a sewing book, from them, after looking for several years, not sure if it was more than a decade, but she has been married and away from home for eight years, so it very well could be a full decade or more.

That's really cool! That must be a good feeling. I didn't look for it for ten years, but it had been more than ten years since my mom had seen a particular something. She had told me about a food item she loved when she was a kid, but they hadn't sold it for years. I cannot remember the name. Anyway, I got online and found a website that sold obscure food items, and one of those items was the one my mom had loved so much. I was delighted to surprise her with it. It was probably about 10 years ago. Thanks for bringing that memory up for me. It's a good one.

Well, isn't that nice!
I've been looking for a pair of earrings I lost (in Guelph, as a matter of fact). Found a pair like them on ebay once but wasn't quick enough to get them. I keep looking...

Really cool!
I've never spent a decade or more looking for anything, so I've never had that happen. Most things that I'm looking for are found rather quickly (thanks to the internet, usually) or cease to be interesting enough to continue seeking (one's tastes do, after all, often change over time).
