Traffic control

India
April 15, 2012 4:35am CST
Today being Sunday, after a long gap I hired a car early morning and visited some temples with my wife; I was surprised to observe the following, in some traffic post there were no traffic police posted nor the automatic signal system was in working condition; in few the so called ‘home guards’ were controlling the traffic; the way they did it was very much disappointing; I am sure they were not trained properly or were not doing the work honestly. My son asked one of them, the answer was ‘Sir, we are forced to do it; no payment for this, we are exploited’. Just imagine how scary it is; guess the accidents occur due to this, the administration says they have shortage of staff; some are employed to watch house of VIP’s. Do you go out on Sundays; where you normally go; what about traffic at your place; are you satisfied with it? Please share your views, opinions and comment on this. Thanks in advance. Professor ‘Bhuwan’. . 14/04/2012

Professor, Yes,the traffic police are not on duty nowadays and i see most of them getting money - the bribe to send people even without licence and this is frustrating. ever happening event-this has become-in India and so far no one has been caught- atleast to my knowledge- none has been caught. And so is the situation in our country now-a-days.And VIP's are no one but the rowdies and so called people. The politician who never help us to sort out issues in our state and country are the VIP's.And we have these police helping those people. Nah,i don't go out often, not in the sundays always, unless we have a need to purchase or visit temples and nowhere else.Maybe to my grandma's house once afortnight-but not always on sunday's i go there. It always depends. But most outings are on some other days,i guess.Outings are rare and even if done- they're not on particular days- random ones.Traffic-quite okay one type. Not too rushed except for one street where the so called VIP's reside by.That street is always busy-ever.VIP's again being the reason for nothing much Very important to know about. Good day professor! Your discussions are really good :)(I say only the truth)

Welcome to mylot Well VIP's are VIP's in our country, i tell you here there is frequent power cut, it becomes difficult to work, so i rang the junior engineer of this area, asked him, 'what is the scheduled time for cut?'; he says noon 12-1pm, night 8-9pm; this is scheduled, but rest unscheduled, controlled by officers , not me.. I asked what about the area where VIP's live? Answer was, no power cut sir!!!!! Same with traffic, court, offices.. Have a nice day ahead. Professor ‘@Bhuwan@’. .

Eh only that much? Should be my answer then. Here it's almost 10 hours a day! Morning 9 to 12 noon. Then 3pm to 6pm, then 7:30pm to 8:30 and 11 to 12 midnight. Then some unscheduled hours at the night as well, which i would not wish to know-and don't know!

Hello Sir, You know where I am living and how much rush is in this place. Usually personnel are there to take care of the traffic and signals are working too. But in case of rain or any other incidents, these personnel are missing and traffic light also turned off; just imagine how messy the road is. If there is strict monitoring, then also people prefer to violate rules so you can imagine what may happen in the absence of officials. All feel that they are the kings and should get the way first. Finally it may leads to quarrels and traffic blocks. I can reach within 20 minutes from office to home, in this case I may take more than one hour to reach home.

I don't usually go anywhere on Sundays. On the rare occasions that I do there aren't much traffic. Week days right outside and down the road is a major artery of the city. It is busy from about 3:30 until 6 or so. People going out of the city home. So we try not go anywhere during this time.

Yes, we do go out on Sundays, if my husband is not that busy, he would take us to the mall, just along some parks here or most often to the beach where the kids could hang out and play..or to the church too. The traffic is not that bad here actually, the police force are though not all.. it is bad when people who work so hard and are not compensated well, that is abuse. They should like file for abuse or something

There actually isn't a day of the week that I don't typically go out. What I do find is that the traffic around here tends to be less on Sundays than it is during any other day of the week. I don't have a specific place that I always go on Sundays, but I find that it is easier to get through the city on a Sunday and I tend to be able to make my best time going to my friend's house in another county during the weekend.

One reason I left the big city because of traffic, and one thing the cause of that traffic is the who in charge. We always knew it when it's traffic there is one enforcers who control it. Because they go against the traffic lights, sometimes were suspicious about it they only want to caught a traffic violator. Here in my hometown we only experienced once i while, only if there is road widening or events.
