What are you worried about if you travel to a foreign country?

If I travel to a foreign country, I will be worried about whether the local people are friendly or not. As I may not know the local language, if the people are not nice there, it will spoil my mood in the travel.

I would worry about finding something I would like to eat, Knowing Enough of the native language, and about the locals being friendly. I'm a very picky eater but... Mc Donalds is Everywhere these days! I would try to learn Every phrase I would need Before I bought my tickets but I can't make sure I come across friendly locals. all I can do is hope.

Oh, unlike Sara, i can eat any "normal" food, so that it is not big problem about eating. If i cant eat local food, i can find KFC, Mc Donalds or restaurants that serves European cuisine....:)

@youless even if a place is deemed " friendly" we need to take all precautions. Yes don't believe everything in the news, the news would sometimes say the country is dangerous but the fact is it's only in a small part of the country.

I would worry that some of my registrations and such will fall through and so I won't be able to enjoy all I had planned on. In some areas I would also worry that there be some uprising and political problems that would cause unrest and problems in the area I was hoping to vacation in.

My top worry is if people can speak or understand even little language. Its hard to go around, shop or eat if they don't understand you or you don't understand them

Depending on the country, I could be worried about the language barrier. I would also be worried about my health, maybe I wouldn't be used to the food, air, germs, etc. of that country. I have been hospitalized abroad (for 5 days...) before and it was really scary. My family back home was even more worried...

I'm only worried about pickpocketers and thieves. If I don't understand the local language, it wouldn't matter to me if they are nice or not :-P I wouldn't know if they being rude to me...so it wouldn't affect me.

There are two things that I worry about. One of the things that I worry about is if I am a victim of a crime or if I have an accident, as I wouldn't know what to do if I was in that situation. Healthcare could be very expensive if you were in another country so I do worry about that. The other thing that I worry about is getting lost somewhere and not being able to ask anyone where to go because I didn't speak the language. I don't normally go to places that I don't know without someone who is able to speak the language, as I find that I feel a lot safer that way.

I am worried that I will lose my passport or my money, but aside from that I don't have many worries. I am not afraid of visiting a country where I don't speak the local language. If am unable to find someone who speaks English I will use sign language, drawings or use the words and sentences in my phrasebook/dictionary. I have visited several countries where I didn't speak the language and I always managed to communicate with the locals in one way or another. I am not worried about the food. On the contrary I look forward to trying new kinds of food and I am sure that I will find something that I can eat.

In fact when traveling to another country or any other places where you haven't gone before , one will has so many worries, like language barrier, unsuitable food, not so good service and so on. But not knowing the local language is the biggest one especially in a foreign country. So it's better to learn the local language when one travels to a foreign country.

The only worry I can think of in traveling to a foreign country is losing my cash and my credit cards not working. Also losing my passport would really screw my travel. I really don't want that to happen. As for being worried if the locals are friendly, I wouldn't think much about it... Just try talking to anyone, you will find someone who is kind and helpful to guide you anywhere.

If I travel to a foreign country I worried about the weather because it might ruin my vacation if I experience unexpected rain fall. I've experienced to traveled near to one of Asian country, I searched to the internet and according to the weather forecast the weather is fine and sunny but when we started to explore the city, the rain start to drops and we ended up staying in the hotel for one day. Also I am worried about the food and water in a foreign because I dont want to get any food borne disease when I am travelling.

I worry about the local people too. It will be the hell if I meet the local people who are not honest, always try to cheat me. Language is somehow not big problem with me. If they cant speak English, we can use body language or drawing...:) And i am sure that you can ask 10~20 persons, and at least 1 of them who can speak English.

If I have to travel to another country, I think the food for sure is what I worry about because I know it's not the same as what I am having here in the Philippines but for sure there is other way than that, but as a tourist to their country I will try to explore and eat different recipes that they have at least I'll be able to witness their way of cooking in different style and food presentation.
