I was having horrible menopause problems. The worst was that I no longer could digest food properly, or at all. That in turn caused breathing problems and so forth. Good ole' mom suggested putting raw garlic into my salads and soups. Well, even though my house smells pretty nasty, my stomach feels great and I've even gotten a little more energy. Putting fish into my diet has helped also. What natural foods has helped you? Here's a link that taught me a little bit more about garlic. http://quanta-gaia.org/reviews/books/powerOfGarlic.html

I use garlic for digesting problems also, I eat a smashed garlic, before breakfast, with a tablespoon of honey, honey prevents my breath smells like garlic, and, make it more palatable. I never use it in salads, but, I use onion instead, besides, in order to loose weight, I drink, a glass of carrot-beet-orange juice, every morning, it helps in cleaning the blood, also.

My wife went through a very rough stage of menopause several years ago, and it is a most challenging life change to go through, for both partners. The "Back To Eden" herb book by Jethro Kloss contains super wonderful remedies for any women going through menopause - to help curb this natural life changing event.

Besides of that, it is very tasty as well, I replaced several non-healthy things I used to eat in breakfast, like sweetened bread and cookies, and butter, and I feel much better now.

Hi, Gtargirl, your ole' mom sure is a wise woman. The garlic is a magic medicine. But I'm surprised that it has helped you with your stomach problems. I know that it causes irritation when you don't have a healthy stomach. Years ago I had terrible problems with my gallbladder and I was told not to eat hot stuff like chilli and garlic. It's a pity because they both give energy and vitamins. I'm glad that at least my daughter can eat garlic and it helps her to get rid of viruses. Another good food is the celery.

Fannitia, the garlic hasn't healed my stomach problems but it just makes it feel so much better. It seems that any kind of food I eat, even if it's a bite, makes my stomach bloat and fill up like a rock. The garlic doesn't do that. And I love celery too, but it doesn't satisfy hunger. Oh well. Information is always good. Pwermannx, what is/are Acidophilus?

The use of Acidophilus is beneficial to optimal intestinal health, and a great way to help aid in a woman whom is battling menopause.

Garlic is great stuff. I must have some Italian in me some where because I like the smell. Fish is great brain food and has the fatty acids we need too. The natural food that has helped me is golden seal. It heals and is used as a anti-biotic. Fowl tasting golden colored stuff but it does the trick.

I've heard about golden seal. It comes in pill form too, right? That might be easier for me. And I kinnda like the smell of garlic too. Go figure.

Oh you definitely want to have the Golden Seal in capsule form because it has a very bitter and yucky flavor. You can buy the capsule empty and make them yourself. The golden seal might be cheaper by itself. I love garlic!

I ate raw garlic before when I thought I have worms in my intestines. I read somewhere that they are antibacterial and anti-parasitic so it helps to chew raw garlic everyday to get rid for the worms. I don't know what happened but I just know that they're good for my body.

Oh, I've never heard of that. The thought of having worms is very disturbing and if garlic keeps them away I would chow down as much raw garlic as I could. That's probably not good though.

Garlic is amazing. I used to hate it, but started to eat it regularly last summer, and it really helps fight infections and boost the immune system. I didn't even get cold or flu this winter, while I always did earlier. It's great that it helps with your stomach too

I like it with salads too. Just cook garlic in virgin oil and use it as a dressing. I love it.

Do you eat it totally raw? I can do that only if I put chunks of it in hot soup. It is amazing.

I try to eat it raw, though it's easier for me to eat cooked... I usually grate it or cut it into thin slices and mix it to salad dressing.

We forget that salt has great medicinal value. It preserves our food and it helps cleanse wounds or is great as a nasal spray or a gargle for sore throat. We eat ginger for sore throats and to fight pain as well as for stomach issues. Fresh pineapple helps with sore throats and colds. Bananas help prevent muscle spasms. Prepared horseradish is good for clearing congestion. Hot peppers cure most pain. Turmeric, the spice is good to relieve arthritis symptoms. All kinds of high fiber foods help fight constipation.

Natural food is so amazing. I read in this article that big companies would rather extract "stuff" from raw foods and make money that way as trying to sell garlic in a bottle probably wouldn't be profitable. My mom grows so much in her garden we hardly shop for fruit and veggies. I know your garden does well too.

I have had stomach trouble since I was a little girl--not bad but it seems that it is sensitive. Grandma and Mom would give me ginger, which has been used since forever for digestive problems and also for arthritis as it is a very effective anti-inflammatory. So I take it now when I get muscle spasms or my arthritis is particularly troublesome. I buy it in capsules at Walmart very cheaply. It's a wonderful natural remedy! I don't like garlic although I know it's good for us and also great for the circulation and the heart. I would buy odorless garlic capsules rather than eat it in its natural state. I'm sure you lose a little of its properties but the smell makes me sick!

Yeah, not too many people actually like the smell of garlic. I don't know why I don't mind the smell, it is so pungent. I don't like ginger but maybe I should try it in pill form.
