I was just had a memory of my child hood and things that used to drive my dad nuts. My dad was a very patient man but there were two things he had no patience for. He did not like it when you cracked gum and he had no tolerance for slurping through the straw where it made noise. Back when I was a kid you did not get free refills on soda at restaurants and my parents only let us have one. Of course there never seemed to be enough so you would try to get as much liquid out of the glass as you could so of course that slurpy noise would happen and my dad would get so mad. What were some things that your parents just hated?

I could probably come up with a mile long list. One was if we happened to move the rearview mirror. Dad acted like it was impossible to get it lined back up right. Come on, what is the big deal? Both my parents hated for me to sing in the car when we were on long trips. They said they thought I was a police siren. One more, for good measure, and I never understood this. When I was little, I could sit in the pew at church and swing my legs cause my feet did not touch the ground. It did not make any noise, I did not show my underwear, I did not talk. It just was something they disliked.

We sat in a pew by ourselves. It may have been that that was around the time mom started having a lot of pain from her arthritis and she was afraid I would hurt her.

I think my dad hated us sibling (5 girls) quarreling when we were still kids. He would hit us with the back of his belt when he has discerned who is really the one who instigated the fight.
So, as much as we can, we only quarrel when he's not around.
