Guys help me out because there's this thing that I always encounter almost everyday in my life. Is it true that taking a bath after doing exercise or any strenuous activity can be harm full to your health? This scenario often happens to me because everyday I go out to jog then when I finish I immediately take a bath to go to work then my parents will scold me telling me to take a rest for at least 30mins before taking a bath, but I dont follow them because ill be late for my work..

Sounds like a myth or legend to me. It might be that they want you to be careful of overheating yourself. If you do really strenuous activity it can raise your temperature, and then take a hot bath on top of it you are at risk of overheating. Maybe take your exercise 10 min. earlier so you can have a 10 min. cool down then take your bath.

I have never heard this one before, and I know Gyms have showers, etc. for people to be able to shower after their work outs, so I would assume this is just an old wise tail, and it should be OK to shower after this. I feel showering is great anytime you need one, and it is better to feel clean that sticky especially after a long work out.

It does not have enough effect on you to take a bath after an intense activity. If ever there is, just try to eat nutritious food everyday.

When one exercise, the body temperature will rise. When you shower immediately, it bring the temperature down abruptly. This is definitely not good for the body. Also there is the risk of catching a cold.

I think it is a myth. There is no any scientific basis of getting sick of taking a bath right after a strenous activity.I think, there are those cases that seem to prove this to be true but It may be because of another reason - a pre-existing problem or disease - a cardiovascular problem may be. It may be by chance or it may be triggered by that problem or an ailment. So we should be careful and check with our doctors before engaging in an activity such as that.

No heath problems occur from showering or bathing after exercise ... epson salts in the water are good to relax you and your muscles after working out ..

Well, actually, I have been told the same several times, but, see the profesional sportspeople, like football players or runners or whatever else sport, they take a bath immediately after they finished their trainig or game. I always take a bath after I finish my exercises or sports, and nothing happened to me anyway. And, as you?. Have you ever got sick for taking a shower immediately before your sports?, I am sure you did not, so, enjoy your sports and your baths as well.

Hi beanyman, I have never heard such a thing. When I used to go to the gym and work out and, also, an exercise class, we always showered right after. Now I would think if it was harmful to your health, they would've make us wait a while. Sounds like an old wives tale to me.

It is better to rest for a while before taking a shower or bath. There is nothing wrong following our oldies advice than regretting after. Oldies knows best when it comes to health.

good day beanyman, ideally it is better to take a rest at least 30 minutes before taking a bath or shower. this is to prevent exposing your skin to any coldness that the water might bring. since your skin pores are open so it is prone to attain coldness that can harm your health. as this might eventually cause you some colds or muscle pain.

Takinga bath immediately is harmful and 30 minutes is a long duration. You should rest or walk slowly to calm down your body for atleast 5 to 10 minutes then have a bath.

It is just an old folk saying. Taking a bath especially after jogging can actually help you. The warm water helps to keeps your muscles relaxed and therefore helping you to be less sore afterwards. Baths help stress and all kinds of medical disorders. I watched a television show about this saying and they tested it to be false.

You do need to cool down after your workout and do some stretching before hitting the shower. And, best to have warm bath than a cold one.
