The Things Some People Really Believe and Think

It never seems to amaze me anymore the way some people are. They just often are so Close minded to things, even if they were raised differently and always think and believe that they are right, and never wanting to believe or reason with anyone else, and even belittling the one trying to explain their feelings on it all. The latest one is the people who claim to be Athiest and do not believe in God, and then claim that people who are Gay are born that way? And if you are a Christian it is because you were brain washed to be that. Personally as a Christian there is no way I believe you are born gay, and you are born the way God wants you not the way you feel you should have been. At the same time I feel it is a persons right once they get of age to choose the way they want to live, and if god is going to be a part of it or not. Yes, I am a Christian and proud to be one, but if you do not believe like I do, it is not up to me to make you believe and see it my way. And calling someone a Biggot who is a Christian and sees things from a Biblical standpoint though is not a good way to start. Personally for me I know we here as myLotters have a lot of different beliefs, customs, thoughts and opinions, but when someone is constantly jumping at you challenging your every move, and thought makes you wonder how they ever got to where they are in life today. What are your thoughts on this one? ~~TINA~~

Before replying to your comment , I would agree with you that people think 'they are right' is fine!, but if they feel 'others are wrong and only I am right' then its absolutely not fine. There may be different views about so many things, but there need to be a level of acceptance and enquiry, forcing something on someone is not right.I am a Hindu and I believe in GOD , there has been so many revolutions over centuries in Hinduism and many people have raised up in every century to amend and lead people in a right way taking the trends and challenges of that century and yes there have been huge amount of people who have objected to the same.It is clearly evident, change is needed in our belief, as every element in life of humans are changing every second and so is our belief . what we need is a right qualified person to educate and lead us on the same.

In Mylot there is no right or wrong unless your discussion gets deleted, and that is not necessarily because you are wrong.. it's because your discussion was deemed inappropriate or against the guidelines in some way. Everyone has a right to their opinion. I wouldn't put up a discussion and feel everyone is wrong who disagreed with me. It just means they don't believe the same as I do. No one is right or wrong. Flaming others is wrong and disrespecting others in any form is wrong. That's about it in mylot.

Yes, it is True that people are allowed to have their own opinions and thoughts in life and here in myLot. The problem becomes with the people who always think they are right, and everyone else is wrong and then flame the person in life or in here because of it. To me their is more to live than being like this, and hope somehow these people will wake up one day as well.

If I am going to discuss with someone anything about belief/religion, been a Christian and a firm believer in the Bible, the first thing that I usually ask someone is whether he/she believe in the bible but incase you do not, I just won't waste my time arguing with someone. It is most likely that you will end up getting offended.

I understand your point Mashnn, what I was thinking is would it be possible for them to change their minds and eventually believe in the bible. If they could see that the bible is indeed the words of God, they may change their minds. The biggest challenge is how would you make them listen seriously on what you're saying.

They can only listen to you if they are willing and understand the importance of what you are saying. Otherwise, without will, it would just be a waste of time.

No, in my situation it was the person in question bringing up something challenging someone else who also believes in God and the Bible and I just chose to speak up and give my thoughts and he turned it into an argument, so now he thinks I am totally weird and I refuse to ever say anything to him again, even if he is a Superintendent over the Cab drivers. Many do not like him, and all agree his opinions and thoughts mean nothing if all he ever wants to do is argue.

Hi Tina, I'm also a christian and I do believe that were all children of God, the one who believes on Him are very lucky to understands his teachings and If they are the one who obey his rule. I'm not a religious type of person but I do believe in his words and I did not dis obey him. I never hurt someone and I do respect everybody's belief.

Some people, once they have stated a belief, feel that it would put them in a position of weakness to stand back from it.

Personally to this day even, this person always feels he is in the right. He has told people I know nothing, and constantly goes around annoying and upsetting people. He has had numerous complaints against him and still no one does nothing about it. I really wish people like him could sit in their mire of how they treat others, and have to experience it themselves and see how they like it.

hello Tina, It is not worth the time debating with someone who does not believed in God. No matter how we tried to explain or reason out- they will never understand or even listen. Like what they believed that Christians are brain-washed (same way they are also brain-washed for not believing in God) Granting Christians are brain-washed- I prefer to be brain-washed with my beliefs rather than having NO-GOD in my life. I avoid those kind of people and we cannot blame them as well, as everyone has the right to express their opinion. What pissed me off, when they use bad words or word lashing as though they are perfectly right all the time.

Yes, it is not worth arguing with them, but for someone to deliberately be calling you names, etc. just because you do not believe the way they do and continuing to make a Big deal about it, even when others are believing with me, that is quite childish for sure.

I was also thinking the same thing the other night. I was talking to my husband and telling him about my mylot experiences for the past days. I told him about the differences in opinions and beliefs of members. He said that I should not force anybody to believe on what I believe is right. He said they have their reasons for not believing. If a person started to say offensive words while you are just discussing or explaining something to make him or her realize something, then it would be better if you just stop. He said it would be a waste of time. Arguing will not do good on both parties. In this kind of situation, only explain or give your opinion if you are asked to. But I told him that mylot is a site wherein you are allowed to give your own inputs about every topic that was posted. And honestly, I feel really bothered about how other people think especially when in terms of morality and God. I feel like is it really okay to just keep your mouth shut and let them say that there is no God and that bible teachings are no longer applicable at present. Like you, I really find that frustrating.

Well, in my case this is someone who is supposed to be a Superintendant over the drivers, and he is always finding fault and arguing with the drivers and others like at the Train station, Cruise Ship terminals, etc. besides in the office where I was actually trying to have a conversation with someone else. He really thinks he is arogant and knows it all, and no one else is ever right. So personally I just ignore him from now on, and know in time his mouth will lead to a lawsuit or worse.

it works both ways hon, many christians have dogged atheists because they are atheists, they are fed up with that too. In this world we should as humans be tolerant of each other and we are not not even Christians.

I'm with you on everything, Tina. It does get tiring at times, doesn't it? If there was anything I'd learned from this experience, it's that people won't take responsibility for their thoughts, words, & behaviour, preferring instead to have a "scapegoat" (something/someone) to blame these on, & yet feel OWED others' validation/approval. If you won't give it to them, you're called names like "bigot", etc. Yeah, I get all that.

You know, every single person in the world has their beliefs for a variety of reasons. It amazes me to learn of different viewpoints and beliefs of people, and it's even more intriguing to learn why they believe the way they do. Personally, I am a Christian as well, and as such, I love those who are gay just as I would extend that caring toward someone who is not. It's not up to me to judge them or "cast the first stone", because I am far from perfect myself, and I also believe in praising God, not pretending to be Him. Also, I believe that although experimentation is very real in various situations of today's world, those who are gay are born that way. I believe this because attraction and lifestyle is something that comes naturally; for example, I'm a straight woman. I've been with the same man, my husband, for over seven years. I can't just decide that, hey, I'll be gay today. I'm suddenly attracted to women. The very thought of being intimate with or dating a woman turns me off so completely, simply because my mind doesn't feel that's natural for me. I have many friends and acquaintances who are gay, and I once asked one of them how they felt when people claim it's only a choice. His response to me was, "Why in the world would I choose to be gay?" It's given him a lifetime of ridicule and cruelty, so to be honest, I couldn't argue with that. I personally don't get angry over other people's beliefs. You, for example, believe that people are not born gay, and you have your reasons for that belief. How in the world is my opinion going to change what you believe because of your past experiences, acquaintances, research, etc.? I cannot fathom how people spend so much time arguing and trying to persuade others when it comes to belief...why does everyone want everyone to be the same person? That would lead to a very boring world in which little can be learned or explored, and that's a world I don't want to live in.

While I do have my own set of thoughts and beliefs as to the way things are in the world, I also think that it is very important to respect those thoughts and beliefs that other people do have in their lives. When it comes to homosexuality, though I am a Christian woman, I honestly do believe that homosexuality is something that is genetically linked. The reason that I feel this way is because of my family. I have a total of five uncles and three of them are gay men and then of my cousins, several of them are gay as well and this is enough proof to me to believe that there is a genetic link.

I guess most people do are not inclined to "live and let live".If they were, we would have much less conflict in the world, and I am not talking only about religious beliefs,or lack of thereof.I wish they would...

I am from India.By religion I am a Hindu.I don't believe some people are born gay.I know some guys who have physical relations with guys and not with girls.I believe it is they who have developed this habit. They are nor impotent or eunch. So being gay is their own choice. Leave it.I agree with you that there are some people who think they know everything and that they are always right.I recently encountered one of such persons. He was hell bent to make me believe that the earth is not round;instead,it is flat. The other discovery by this man was that the population of the world is fast decreasing and that there would be no human being on this planet. All my arguments fell on deaf ears.He refused to agree with me.

Im a christian and i believe being gay is not a choice. I believe they are born that way. But i believe it is because there is something defective in their chromsome make up. Considering we are far from the perfection we had in the begining. Having known and talking about things with gay people i know. I know a person that fought with issues of them thinking they were gay. Then during a medical emergency the doctors discovered that he/she was actually born with both the male and female organs. For some resaon the parents and doctors desided on the male organs. He had always felt like a female. Personally i believe they should leave people like that intact with both organs. Close mindedness in inside and outside the churches. Also i have known people that call themselves christians that felt blacks should not be in their church. If that isnt being a biggot IDK what is.

I do agree it gets old. Some people are used to running the show and feel they know it all. I think I get excited sometimes and write as if I am sure you just have to do it my way. I do have afew years under my belt but that doesn't give me the right to sound as if I am ordering people around. I think in some case gays are born that way. Can't recall what they are called but what about the children that are born with both male and female genitilia? Their parents make the decision of what gender they will be and the doctor surgically removes the other. What about these poor people that are left feeling strange and wanting so to be the other. And many gays are born with the feeling of not being quite right. I feel sad for them. And when transgenders are going through an awful time too. Everyone has a right to their own opinions but I do wish they would they would use more common sense. It does take alot of different people to make a world!

I was brought up to believe that it is not right to question another's religion, politics are fair game but not religion. On my own I totally believe that each of us has our own road to follow with regards to religion, I have my own beliefs and they are not open to arguements from others, after all who can tell you what to believe, if you are not sure then you will search for your own answers, the information you need is out there, but you must open yourself to it. Blessings

So actually you are saying Athiest who claim... How come you do believe a doctor if it comes to new inventions/discoveries/treatments to cure .. but if it comes to gayness (which is proved by dna) suddenly only the atheist claim? It never amazes you anymore how people are but it sounds to me you are very closed mind yourself as well. And if it comes to religious people (no matter christian or islam or ..) I think by now there is plenty of prove, read the daily news, all those holy wars, how short minded they. It's very hard to have an open discussion with people who are raised in a certain "believe" anyway.
