I've been watching vlogs on youtube about japanese vending machines and I find them to be interesting. I've seen all sorts from cigarettes to beer, even ones that you can buy a key to lock your belongings in at the sub station. I think what happens is you buy the key, and it has what locker it belongs to, you put your items in it, take the key with you and return it upon getting your items out.
There are all sorts of machines, drink machines that can RECOMMEND to you VIA camera what it is you'd want to drink. There are even rice shucking (if that's a proper term for it) machines where you put your rice in it and it cleans and peels away any residue.
I find that to be interesting.
Anyone else know of any cool vendhing machines ANYWHERE?

My friend is studying abroad in Japan and has had a blast telling me about all of the quirky things there, vending machines included (not that I wasn't already aware of some of them, thanks to my interest in the culture). There's also the infamous vending machine that dispenses used panties ... I don't know if it's still a thing, though.

I saw a vending machine for panties as well, that I had forgotten about. USED panties though? sick sick sick!
I've even seen videos of japanese apartments, those are neat looking.

And to think that soda vending machines were intricate. But the answer is no. I wish I didhave interesting ones here in the US. The coolest vending machine I have seen here is ones that pick up your icecream out of a freezer inside.

I'm in the US as well, haven't seen any neat ones. Unless you consider redbox a vending machine? In a way it is.

That is really interesting. I know at the airport now they have vending machines that sell electronics, such as portable DVD players and cameras. Of course you have to use a credit card to pay for the stuff because obviously it is not cheap stuff. That is probably the most unusual machine that I have seen. I have seen machine that sell over he oounter medical supplies as well and personal care items, mostly at hotels.

I have worked at places where the lunch room has many vending machines for pop, sandwichs and even hot soups and chili. I always wonder how long they have been in the machines. The Japanese people seem to come up with some interesting ideas don't they? Have seen alot of them just not very interesting ones.

I believe in Dubai, you can buy gold from a vending machine. I remember reading about people buying oxygen from a machine in Japan.
One of the biggest scams I heard about was a company that tried to raise money in the stock exchange to manufacture a vending machine that makes french fries.
