I don't have to give up my babies for the new apartment

You know I am moving in Sept and my biggest fear was I would have to give up my cats. My son and I decided we would smuggle them in. I have two cats, and if we got a letter to get rid of them we would deal with it at the time. Well, I don't have to give my babies up. The new law for the city apartments allows pets providing they do not become a nuisance to anyone. I am so happy I prayed every night that I would not have to give up my babies. They mean the world to me.

That is very nice that you will be able to keep your two cats. My daughter has to have her cats. We have three right now. She had to get a letter from a doctor saying that she had them as companions. So that worked out well. Our cats sure mean alot to us. Glad to hear it all worked out.

I would have had to get a letter from my doctor too, so I could have my cats, because I wouldn't have given them up with out a fight, they mean just too much to me.

I know what you mean. My daughter treats our newest one like another son. And the old tom is king of the roost around here. The other is a female and was abused so she stays under my bed most of the time. She and I are friendly occasionally.

That's great! People shouldn't have to give up their furbabies when they move. That's cruel to both the people and the furbies.

Somewhere in a distant, dusty corner of my memory is a suggestion of an idea that someone was trying to or had made it unconstitutional for landlords to bar pets. Maybe it's on another planet, I don't know. I seem to have a lot of ephemeral memories that I can't pin down...

I am glad that you do not have to give them up? How many do you have? It sounds as if you will be happy at your new place.

That is a very enlightened law. I am sure you feel much better knowing that you do not have to take them in illegally.

Yes and I was prepared to fight to keep them too, now I don't have to. I would be so miserable without my babies.

I'm glad that your fur kids can go with you without any problem. I would never give up my fuzzies. That is one of the many reasons I hate renting; it is so difficult to find nice pet-friendly apartments and houses, and I feel the need to disclose having at least one fuzzy. It's a little difficult to smuggle cats in and out for vet visits, bring in large bags of dry kibble, etc. without someone figuring out that there are felines about.

Yes it is very hard but I was going to try and do it anyhow, the disposal of the cat litter would have been the biggest problem for us.

That is wonderful!! I would not move into a place that would not allow me to have my cat. I have lived in this apartment for 10 years now, and I got Shakti the day after I moved in here. He was 2 years old when I got him, and I hope he lives forever. He's very healthy for a 12 year old cat.

when you move into a low rental it is because you don't have the money to afford the rents elsewhere, so you have to live by their rules. It is a matter of survival. You have been where you are for 10 years so your rent is not as high as the rents that are being charged today. It is a matter of survival. I would have smuggled them in and fought for the right to keep them afterwords. But now I don't have to.

oh, i am so happy for you winterose! i think it is wonderful that you were trying to figure out a way to keep your babies and that it has all worked out in the legit sense...it will be less stressful for you than trying to hide them and sneak around...i know that mr. psychoartist and i would be bereft without the princess and how much love and companionship your babies must bring you as well...hope you and your feline friends enjoy your new home!
