I watched a documentary about Japan and I found the full time work was as much at 18 hours in 24 hours that would be six days a week. Many full time workers in Japan are over worked. The people that sell food in a place open 24 hours a day usually work very long hours indeed. One of them said he worked from 08.00 until 01.00 or even 03.00 the next day.
Have you ever had a full time job?
If so which sort of hours did you work?
Have you or anyone you know ever felt over worked?

I heard Japanese like to work as much as they can. They don't want holidays. They think if they remain at home they will quarrel with their partners(husband or wife). So to avoid quarrel they like to remain at their working place.

They also do long school hours in Japan. They have school on Saturday for at least half a day as will as long hours during the week. Much longer than what we have here. But they do grow up to be a more educated and disciplined society than here here though. They are definitely a hard working lot.
Apart from when I have chosen not to have a full time job such as now that I am self employed, I have always worked full time. Mostly doing ten hour days so that I could get a couple of hours overtime in each day.
In my younger years I would work my normal day and then do extra work on the side at my own work or at another business. This often led to 12 to 18 hour days. When the after hours work was there I took it as it was not always that busy. Once I had my family though, I only rarely did these long hours.

I had one job where I worked from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. My work actually consisted of two different shifts, one was from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and another one was from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., but there weren't enough people to do the work on the last shift and my boss asked me if I could take the both the early shirt and the last shirt and I agreed to do that, because my ex-boyfriend and I were saving up for a trip and I could really use the extra money. Fortunately it was only for a short period. When they hired someone to take the late shift I stopped. I was happy that I didn't have to work so many hours anymore and I was able to focus on other things than work.

I work for a Japan based company and they are known for their long hours. I visited our mother and sister companies in Japan once for a week. A little business and a little pleasure too.
They are known for their long hours and their quest for perfection. Even though I am in the US, in the winter months, our busy season, we work 7 days a week, 8 hours a day. It is expected and mandatory. These are the times when I feel overworked. During the summer months, however, it is the basic 5 days a week with weekends off. That is nice.

In the mines, I did work overtime often in our private gold tunnel. I recall having worked with hammer and bar but take time to sleep for about 2 hours when I get tired or at least every 4 hours taking turns with 3 of my buddies. While another takes the task of bringing our needed food, we would do this work pattern for as long as four days.

Hi friend, working for a long time is not good for our health,we must take proper rest. Too much of work without rest surely gives a lot of health issues and we are in need to spend a lot for our hospital bills. Work of 8 hours and rest of 8 hours is good for a normal person to take care of his health

I have heard of factory workers working for 12 hours here in our country but 18 hours just sound so exhausting, and it still is an understatement. I have never had a full time job, at least none that I can consider yet because I don't really consider my once-upon-a-time summer job to be really full time. It was 8-hours a day for week days but it was just light encoding job and I was enjoying it all the while.

I feel bad for the Japaneze. I worked full time up until about 2006 when I became too sick to any longer. I had manitory overtime at my last job. I have often felt overworked. My first real job was in the mid 70's for the telephone company. We had the CWA or Communications Workers of America union back then. Until the Right to Work law went into affect.

It's hard to live like that. I'm sure that they work so much because they work is too cheap. I have a full time job but the salary is not enough to cover my expenses. Year ago I found a spare job and some days I go home from work just to begin working again. I feel overworked but I have no choice.
