I know when I was growing up many many years ago, I never got a bedtime story read to me..Not that I can remember,, I remember when my children were small, I use to have them read to each other after they were old enough to read,,But I have to saY I did not read to them on a regular at all. I can't remember why, but I didn't as a normal bedtime activity. However, I read to both of my grandsons every time they spent the night with me, which was very very often,, Whats your story????

My mother used to read fables to me. And she and I started to write a bedtime story once. Can't remember why we didn't finish it. I have read to all my kids. My daughter loved them all and my granddaughter and grandson did too. I think Bambi is probably the favorite.

I read to my daughter every day. Not necessarily at night though. We pretty much read all day between her work books, regular book, items in our house, shopping.

I read to my nieces and nephews! My mom used to read to me all the time when I was little and I loved it. I even made her read the same book over and over for weeks without me getting sick of it lol. My nieces and nephews love to be read to. Some of them are now getting at the age where they can start reading to me

I don't have a kid, but if I'm having one, I'd definitely read them some tales or books... and I'm going to make my own stories up, too, because I love writing. I remember my mom reading and telling tales for me... once he told my dad to tell a tale to me, when she was sick, my dad started to tell the tale... it was either Cinderella or Little Red Riding Hood or Snow White, my parents don't remember... only that I had to keep correcting him, because he couldn't tell a tale properly and story-loyally :).

I read to, sang with, and prayed with my kids until they were pretty big. When they were high school and college age they had friends who were taking some college children's literature classes and I read to their friends and them for all of a spring and summer, because their friends had never had anyone read them stories. I love to read with children.

Hi bjc66bjc, I read bedtime stories to my son during his young childhood. I really enjoyed the time we were together intimately sitting by the side of his bed. The time he's listening to the story was so cute. Until now I still could remember all kinds of his innocent appearance and gesture while the story was read I have a bedtime story books with 360 interesting stories in it. I purchased it purposely to share all the interesting content with my boy. Among the stories there are some which he loved to listen repeatedly Nowadays my son has grown up but I still keep that book with me. Two of my colleagues had borrowed it for their respective little boys before I'm more than willing to share this book with people I know. Happy posting and have a nice day!

Hi BJC, i seldom read bedtime story to my child. In fact, he don't really have interest to listen to it. He is more interest into listening to song. So, most of the night, i rather switched on his favorite children song for him to listen until he is asleep. I have a niece who likes to listen to story before she falls asleep. Whenever she stays in my home, i will need to read a story to her before she falls asleep.

I don't have any children of my own yet, so i have to say no i don't read bedtime stories. But in the future when i do have a children of my own, i definitely would. I have no idea what story to tell my children yet but i will create some story that would help my children to believe, to have faith, to have desire and to be a winner in anything he or she do.

I haven't read to any children so far, but I do remember my mother always read to me and to me it was the most exciting part of the night. Well, I say she read to me, but what she did was make a whole performance out of it, with a special voice for each character etc. Needless to say, it provided me with much joy, and I would love to pass this joy on to other children, whenever the opportunity arises.

I don't read I tell them stories which they want to hear. When my son was 2-3 he enjoyed listening to traditional bed-time stories. Now that he's almost 5, he prefers scary ones or totally made-up ones, which is a bit more demanding for us parents after the day's hustle and bustle to muster up strength:)

I hear ya,,,but we as parents/grandparents do whatever we think will soothe our children at times, even when we don't really feel like it...
