What a mess,The Indian Education System Is!!

Education is the most important part of anyone's life.It makes a person a respectful and honorable citizen of his/her country.Being literate is only a part of education, but its not complete education.Education is for life. But in a vast and rapidly developing country like India, the education system is a great "mess".Right from kindergarten to the college, no institution allows anyone to get admission without taking a subsequent amount of money as donation for various purposes. Also the education system has been built in such a way that only engineers and doctors pass out year after year from colleges, leaving a few risk takers like me who chose other fields like literature. But even though we posses a humongous number of engineers and doctors, our country is hardly making any progress in health and infrastructure.Because their aim is to complete their education and settle abroad. But the greatest drawback of the system is that it will make you literate but won't guarantee a job to you. Then what good is it to waste about 15 years in studies? There are thousands of college scattered across the nation but the certificates of majority of colleges don't have any value. So millions of Indian students have very few options like IITs and some other colleges that have about 30000 seats. But where will the rest go? Education has just become a commercial business in India, that is rapidly gaining tremendous amount of profits. But the authorities should remember that by degrading the education system, they are degrading the future of their own country.

Hello Shine, You mixing up two issues. No doubt the corruption is more in the country even the school administration directly can't ask bribe so they ask it indirectly through donations. Unemployment is due to the over population of our country as the jobs are limited and the candidates are more so its obvious someone's going to remain unemployed.

I agree with you India is over populated but we cannot blame only over population for the unemployment. We cannot remain negligent saying that India is over populated.Schools should teach life skills also other than maths and science. We have to bring change in our country...

Hello Shine and welcome to myLot. It appears that our countries have the same problems with education I believe that college is pushed too much. For one thing not every one is college material. For another too many go into professions that have no real jobs so when graduating no jobs. I think that more emphasis should be put on the Kindergarten though high school making sure the students can read and do math with excellence. They also need to be taught life skills how to save money how to chose a good leader for the country. and a good history of not only our own country but the history of the rest of the world. I strongly believe that government should stay out of business and should only regulate what is truly a danger to the people. Our government is so big that it is getting to the point that more people work for the government than in the private sector. Maybe there should be a restriction on Dr leaving your country until they have worked there for so many years. Some times here teacher will get a scholarship if they promise to teach in under privileged areas for a few years. If every one goes to college who will run the restaurants or build the roads. Every job is very important and should not be looked down on when done well.

Thanks for your valuable thoughts.Well I myself feel that nowadays all are running behind selected jobs and if they fail to get the job they are left on their own.I agree with you schools should teach life skills also and there is a great need of vocational courses also.

Due to this thinking waste the 15 years in education in our community all the boys prefer to start the business and wants to earn their own money and in India most of the tax payer is Maheshwari. Because most of the big businessman is Maheshwari. The son is start to handle his father business if business is big otherwise start his own business apply mind and start more earning. Even some educated person cant earn such huge money which is earned by businessman. We not like the Indian education system. Jobs on the basis of category.

I can understand your desperationI am an engg student.I took Aero, but the jobs are really scarce.Whats more shocking is the fact that wherever we go,peole hates us,In australia, england, gulf and USA..these peole think that we are stealing their opportunities and to a certain they are right too.But else can we do? Yeah Shine govt is more concerned with more pressing matters, like filling their pockets with whole lot of manny.Where is all the money that we pay as tax? Any "development"?which is funded by government???ANY??...its all done by private companies, and government spreads that news that they had done it.What they are actually doing is to take bribes and allow these pvts to build on public land They are degrading everything, education will not be spared. They don't care...why should they care,we are fools to think that the government really cares for us,they will never do things which is not beneficial to them.

Mexico is the same. The teachers are paid so low here they dont care anymore. Many people have changed kids to private schools here for a better education. But of course those cost more money.

The complete story lies in the fact that so many candidates are getting into only a single field and that is studies. Now education is quite different from being knowledgeable and literate. Preferably the ideal scenario is that prime institutes like IITs are made for them who have an urge inside them to be a real good engineer. But now with the numerous coaching centers and guiding organisation any child can be made to mug upto a level where he can qualify for an exam like that. We are not left with any option but to go in the same used path. Also the amount of money invested becomes another constraint in forcing us to do something which would pay us more no matter whether we are "earning" anything or not.

You are absolutely right. It is very less case that teacher works to find the real talent of the child and encourage him to grow talent. Teachers rather than making us to do hard work, make us work hard. It is no wrong to say that education including school, tuition and coaching institute is commercial business in our country. The school life gives much pressure on the students that most of the students fail short to discover their own talents. I strongly think that if we really want to develop our country, then the first thing we must aim is to improve the quality of education in India.

Ya.. You are right. The peoples those who take donation against some strict rules must be made so that they must not do it.And the thing about the development in the field of medical and infrastructure most of the Indian people not wan't to work hard and so the go abroad and work for less time and earn a lot.And all should not become engineers or doctors for the shake of getting settled you must become what you like. And you must have infinite option to chose your field. And I'am thinking to go in Air Force. And the number of schools must be limited and the different kind of school should be also limited so that no one may use it for their profit. And then only our country will have a better future.
