Beware of the Bagel

Did you know.... Injuries sustained while improperly cutting bagels are so common that medical professionals have an acronym they use. They call them BRIs, wich is short for Bagel-Related Injuries. So, now hat are your favorite kitchen-safety tips for avoiding injury and keeping your kitchen-space safe? I try to lean up spills on the floor immediately and not use a knife improperly so that it cuts my fingers off, (but still I have been known to slip a tiny bit on the floor before and even cut myself somewhat "slightly").

Yes, beware of playing 'hide the sausage' in the kitchen. It may cause unexpected jerking movements that may result in injury.

It doesn't have to be in the kitchen!

Yep. Bagel-Related Injuries. I can certainly see where this could be. I find that a knife with the curetted edge on both side works best. I have tried all different types of knives too. But this one seems to work the best. And the wheat honey bagel is the one I like best.

The secret is in the knife. Most well known (and others) chefs know this. I try to be most careful in the kitchen with all the knives cause I never know if someone sharpened one of the knives here and didn't tell me about it.

Its important to have the knife sharp at all times. Why bother otherwise?
