Lately I notice there are a great lack of garage and estate sales to go to lately when in previous years there used to be three times as much, especially on a Saturday. Have you noticed this too or don't you bother to ever go to them anyways? Where do you think these people are selling their stuff now or are they at all anymore? Maybe they keep everything they have cause they're not buying new stuff?

In our area usually this time of year is good for these Yard sales. Maybe people in your area are off on vacation. Here school will be starting in just over a week. ANd probably you are right. People aren't getting rid of as much stuff as they used to. Good call there.

Yea, here too, many sales that we were not even having time to get to. We were not ever done by say 12:30, but perhaps by 2 p.m. I guess people are keeping everything they have, which can be a good idea but bad in ways too if they're not buying anything.

I have noticed it as well and I think it is a combination of things...I think more people are keeping what they have because they are not able to buy new things in this economy. I think more people if they do sell things they are selling it online more. And I think not as many people want to work for it, they would rather not sit outside and hope people will come when they can go on the computer and sell it that way. No sitting out in the heat, no bringing the stuff out and having to tote it all back inside when your done. I love yard sales but there are not as many going on anymore and I really don't have the money for them right now anyway. =(

I sure wish this economy would straighten up already. I mean it's been going on for way too long, it is a greater concern than healthcare sometimes for me. I think garage sales are a great way to get things second hand or even new sometimes when you can't afford the retail prices. I barely have enough money for them right now either but today I found a shoe rack for $2., a huge soft pillow for my cat for $2. ( which she won't go on yet cause she crunched up when she tried it, it feels too soft for her where I put it in place of her other hard surface she always lays on on the porch), and also three small microwave/oven loaf dishes for 25 cents a peice. My biggest self splurge of the summer. Whoo. Ha.

You and your garage sales! haha I see it as buying other peoples rubbish and I have enough of my own. I have boxes of 'things that will come in handy' but rarely do they see the light of day.

They have loads here, which I was thinking of going to. I am trying to gether things for when I move out, without paying an arm and a leg, more furniture. Some people may be selling their items online, or they may not be buying as much so they arnt selling as much. Ive been saving up my Amazon gift cards to buy household items.
