It is typical for us to express our feelings towards other people in so many ways. It is spelled L.O.V.E. as LOVE, this was even in the lyrics as sang by Rihanna. Love can also be transcribed in a red heart figure. Mainly, people known the feelings "from the bottom of their heart", enclosed by our rib cage. In fact, the impulses are interpreted by our higher center, known as the "brain", particularly the "hypothalamus". Therefore, rephrasing the famous line, "I love you from the bottom of my hypothalamus". It does sound strange, so let us put it back from the former phrase, "I love you from the bottom of my heart." What do you prefer, the first or the second phrase?

I prefer the older version of the phrase,"....from the bottom of my heart.". Heck,I can't even pronounce what you said "....hypothalamus"

Im not that vocal when I express my feeling I more sweet in action. But as to make it sound so sincere it is better to say it at the bottom of my heart since heart is the one who makes us in love.

I am both vocal and physically expressive. Where my late husband was not as much.

Also,my youngest son, never was very vocal or physical about showing his feelings(unless he was mad!!!!!).When he would say,"Mom,I love you" I'd reply with,"Ok,what do you want?"

In another long ago era it was thought that the seat of all emotions was the liver, so we could also say I love you with all my liver. We like what we are used to hearing, that is for sure.

Love and heart is synonym. The eyes that see and 'fall in love at first sight' which send the message to the heart where the power of love nested. when in love the heart usually don't listen to the brain and the reasons people say 'love is blind' simply because the heart did not compromise with ti lhe brain when it comes to matters of the heart. I love you from the bottom of my heart should fit the bill well.

Well, here you are dealing with scientific topics. I have always known that the classic love phrases are "I love you with all my heart" or even "I love you from the bottom of my heart." Now I believe that you have written the truth to the scientific level, or the love that comes from the hypothalamus, which is precisely the upper part of the heart also known as the "brain". So scientifically speaking the correct phrase would be the first. But how to make it clear to your loved one this reasoning? Well I think it's very complicated. Which is why, in order to avoid misunderstandings in love, in my view it is best to use the formula traditionally more widespread as: "I love you from the bottom of my heart."

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. The term was in the field of medical, the word was explained in its function in anatomy references. I think it is worth a try to have this "nice to know" principles. Personally, I also prefer the second phrase. Since it was commonly used. Thank you!

@Shavkat haha this is cute. Well I am only used to the phrase "From the bottom of my heart." I don't think I've ever used this phrase before but something I would use if the time called for it.

I do agree that it is not commonly used. For people who are inclined to medicine can get the idea easily.

I think I prefer I love you from the bottom of my heart, as the other one sounds kind of strange and even medical!

You sound so scientific. The general public who don't even know what and where is it located might not even know how to pronounce it. The more things or sentences become complicated the more people won't buy it. It should be simple and usable/easy to speak. And it doesn't sound cheezy. Love is full of these cheezy words / phrases or lines... Pick lines should be catchy. For me "hypothalamus" is not catchy, it's so medical. Of course I prefer "I love you from the bottom of my heart." And the last reason, because teh heart is more on the representation of our love than the brain where the hypothalamus is located.

I appreciated your constructive criticisms, it was intended to convey the information to a medical approach. But I tried to transcribed the topic in a layman's term. Thank you.

Hello my friend Shavkat Ji, Well, I wish to remain with common person and with legendary concept. I do not want to use, what others may think Latin & Greek and may make fun of me. I wish to call only water and Salt and never as H2o and NACL respectively. May God bless You and have a great time

Though I do know from the education that I've had in my life that our emotions are not born from the heart, but rather from our brain, I do think that saying that your love for another person comes from the bottom of our brain or more specifically our hypothalamus sounds really strange. So, though I mentally know that it is wrong to say that the emotions come from the bottom of our hearts, I am still going to be a person that chooses to use the term "I love you from the bottom of my heart."

Hi Shavkat: That's really weird. The heart thing is a cultural reference that has been used for centuries so it's hard even if it's not right to express your feelings that way to change it. Perhaps, talking about our heart sounds poetic, isn't it. ALVARO

It does sound strange but its more realistic and true than the second phrase. But again the second phase sounds normal as its been like that for many years and been said that way.

I like the taste of love.ha ha, did not expect a simple love words, cause such a scientific physiological reaction. But i think people in addition to blush, there should be no other reaction, haha, nice article!

Definetely the second phrase because I know and understand the meaning. Using the first phrase only puts out the snobbishness of the person and doesn't sound genuine. It sounds like an "I'm educated and like to show it" kind of person. I'd rather be around a much down to earth kind of person.

Love is neither from the heart nor the brain. It emanates from the mind which is distributively spread throughout our respective bodies with each organic system such as breathing, blood circulation, etc. having its own mind as part of the whole mind. The mind deals with control of our sub-conscious activities and the desires and passions of the body. Since, our heart beats too get affected when we love someone or are loved by someone, we feel as if the love emanates from the heart. Our poets worked hard to highlight importance of heart in matters of love.
