May just be me but i wonder why people don't put where they are from when they send u a requests.I am proud of where i'm from & would think most people would be. Guess it really doesn't make any difference where they are from to most people but i have one country i will not accept a requests from men there. Does this bother anyone else??

Everybody has definitely has its own preferences in accepting friend requests. I am new here, no friend yet and haven't sent any friend request as of now. I don't have any country preference at all because I regarded everybody as individual and don't mind what his/her nationality.

I guess I don't because I figure unless one really wants to know, I rather stay a little mysterious.. I mean I don't put it there just for anyone to see, but if someone asks, I will mention the country and only if I am close to a friend, will I mention state and maybe city..Sure I have probably mentioned both in some discussions, but one would have to be a scary stalker to go through all my posts plus the ones I replied in, to find out where I live.. LOL

i know what you mean. i do the same. i go look at their profile first and i read not only where they are from but their age, most dont list that either and it has no barring tho on my acceptance, but i see how many they have made and how many they respond to and what their interests are. if they create more discussions then they respond to, i wont take them or if they are interested in things i have no interest in i figure whats the point of accepting them and yes, some i wont take for the country listed or lack there of.

I do not mind when people from any country or gender send me a friend´s request here. True is, I don´t accept newbies with 2 posts. That´s why I go to their profile, to learn more about them and see if I´m interested. And I don´t like it at all when they put unespecified country, gender or age. If they want to play hide and seek, it will not be with me. I´m not young enough to run anymore. I am proud of my country too and I´m also proud of what I am (generally). So I don´t think there´s any reason why I should hide. I understand usernames and passwords with so many hackers around. But I won´t turn into a ghost, no matter what. Dearest Jo, an answer from your chilean friend

Personally I don't care if anyone adds his/her country over here. If it comes to everybody can lie since it's impossible to check anyway. Also I can understand not everybody is interested in that or feels the need to make a (complete) profile over here. Internet is not the most save place if it comes to ones privacy.

It does not bother me a lot. Some people, when they join, have had bad experiences in other forums and have been discriminated because of their country. I know in discussions sometimes it would be more helpful to know where people are as you can relate to them better.

I would also prefer to see where they are from. Sometimes I can't tell if they are uneducated or they are from a place that doesn't have English as their first language. And even though it doesn't matter if they are uneducated, it would explain a lot by knowing where they are from.

It is not going down with me as well when interacting with stateless people and their refusal to make their origins known only tell me one thing, they are ashamed of their country for some reasons. Though I am from a third world country but am proud that my country's flag stand proudly with all others in mylot world.

Are you talking about their profile? I'm always curious about where people are from. Why is it you won't accept men from a particular country?

Yes, i am. I should have mentioned on their profile. I had gotten a request & on their profile their country wasn't listed. The reason i don't accept them is because i think they are bullies, over-bearing & have a low opinion of women. Thanks for your response.

I've seen quite a few that don't mention where they are from. I just look at what discussions they've started and what kind they answer. If it's all about money and how to make money and where do get money and what websites will make me rich, blah, blah, blah, I don't accept. If they have normal discussions I'll accept and see what happens. They can always be deleted. Sounds like you had some problems here once?

No, it doesn't bother me; I base my acceptance of requests, in large part, on whether the person is an active member who has been here for a while. In most cases, I wouldn't approve a request from someone who hadn't hit the "500" mark. I had to look just now at my profile to see if I had even entered my country when I had joined. I had entered it. I really don't do much of anything with my profile, and I think that was the first time I had looked at it in at least several months if not a year. I usually know what country people are from based on the discussions and responses they have posted. Often, I also know the region or even state/province, because people often share that sort of information--or share enough information that it is clear without them having to specify. I've known people from all over the world, and I routinely interact with people from all sorts of areas and walks of life. Just yesterday, I was talking with a guy who is originally from Jamaica; he settled in this area about seven or eight years ago. One of my best friends is originally from Ghana. My boyfriend had spent several years in another country when he was with his now ex-wife.

I view the profile screen too. It is interesting to see where people live or what country they come from. As for not accepting anyone or a group, not something I do. If I add someone and it turns out to be a bad connection then it is easy to stop it. Just remove as friend. There may be some that are very interesting and have good information to offer if given the chance. The ones that aren't just remove them as easily as it was to add. Just my thoughts!

I like to know where someone is from. I have certain reservations about who to accept as friends. And I wonder, too, why wouldn't you at least put the country where you're from? I mean, nobody's asking for your home address. I guess people have certain reasons for not wanting their country known. It would be interesting to know what some of those reasons are. Or is that being nosy? Toooo bad. Antiquelady, have a wonderful day! (I think I found another strait on my neck this morning!)

OH NO, another strait, lol.I'm not going to look for anymore..I don't mean to be nosy & i don't think that is the reason we wonder about it. I'm so proud to be where i'm from that i have no reason not to put that on my profile. To me Tennessee is the garden spot of the world, lol & i have no desire to live anywhere else.U have a good one to. Thanks for responding.

I am proud of where I come from too so I don't get it. My pet hate is when someone requests friendship but they have not even answered on discussion of mine yet assume that I would want to be their friend. I just don;t get it as to me this is rude. Blessings

Heyya Jo! I'm proud of where I am from too, but it doesn't really bother me too much if I am not sure where someone else is from. I usually go to their profile page and check out their discussions and responses before I accept them. It just gives me an idea of their interests and the way they treat other people here.
