How did you get out of it ? We see depression hitting everyone at some stage or the other. Some get into deep depression which becomes a clinical case and need to be treated with counselling whereas others may not need treatment , however, it does become difficult to get over it.. I too have felt depressed at times when things dont work out the way we want them to, but I am a very positive person so am able to get over it after a few days ... Friends , Please share your experiences here..

You are right, depression comes in when the things doesn't work my ways. Sometimes I have tried to do or have some things in my life in which I think I was selfish but never realized it that early so got depressed. It is really hard to get over the depression once I am in it, but understanding myself helps me. I have to control my life to live it in a happy way.

Hi sanajay , long time since I interacted with you I too feel that self analysis solves a lot of problems regarding our interrelationships and interactions with others because at the base of our depression is some such issue if not financial problems...The more analytical we are , easier does it become to come out of depression, that's what I have come to realise - all the best and have a great day

Thats the best thing ! Being honest with ourselves and our actions gives us a boost because we are not trying to push anything under the carpet and need not feel guilty when it gets pulled out. enjoy your evening

I am happy to interact with you, I know that depression can be very bad and I think I can avoid it if I am totally honest with myself and the others in this whole world. It is the hardest thing to do but will give the very good results.

Hi Kiran! There are many occasions when I feel depressed perhaps because of the fact that am sensitive. Whenever I feel down and out, I try to distract my mind to some other activities or simply go for a stroll (if possible). To lie down and take some rest with closed eyes also helps. Sometimes I resort to deep breathing, when I feel upset. I find that indulging myself in other activities helps and gradually I am able to overcome my depressing feelings. I think many of us feel depressed during different stages and feels that no one is able to understand ourselves or no one cares for us.

It is very easy to do, just sit quietly in a corner and think about the days happenings esp the incidents that disturb you and cause tension or stress and analyse it from every angle , yours, the other persons and the right and wrong of it.You will become more clear when this is done ,the stress automatically decreases because you have analysed it to the best of your capacity...

I envy you being so positive. I have had depression all my life. I was diagnosed with severe depression with panic attacks in 2004. Just think about living in a world just the polar opposite of what you live in now. Total negative and depressed on a nearly daily basis. I take medication for it and I would hate to live without the meds. I live with stress and it is no fun. My daughter is bi-polar and my grandson is ODD. It is just a matter of make it a day at a time. I wish it were as easier as #1's response. Depression is alot deeper than that.

I think I may have depression right now. I haven't been to a doctor just yet. I just received health insurance, and I am looking for a new doctor. The past two, three years have been rough, with all kinds of things piling up at once, with the climax of it coming last year with everything seem to fall apart at once. The events of 2011 have made it difficult to come out of it, especially since a lot of it carried into 2012. In 2011, I dealt with unemployment, losing my apartment, being kicked out of school, having no income, getting sick, and though I wasn't dating her, being blindsided by a person who I liked with her lies. 2012, I am dealing with fighting my way back into school, a crummy job situation, moving back with my parents (which by the way is not a positive environment to begin with), a fighting a uphill legal battle. I am not sure how to cope with any of this. I don't have much of a support system, and I learned the hard way who my friends are in a time of need. So I am treating all of this from scratch. The first thing I am doing is go to a doctor while I have insurance, to see how much damage I have done to myself. My health assessment I did for my insurance provider said I need to take care of the mental issues first. I had one other bad point in my life, and that was when my dad passed away. It wasn't so much that he passed away, but I had to authorize taking him off life support. I couldn't sleep for weeks afterwards. I was feeling like a murderer, trying to justify what I did to myself for weeks. Eventually it just came to me one day, and I was feeling better afterwards. But this situation, I need help reversing this sinking ship.

Hi agent807, I cant even begin to tell you how very sorry I am about the whole thing.Life can be very tough and also very unfair at times. The only way we can cope is by thinking that all this will pass and some day you can look back at it and probably discuss it without feeling so bad, also having learnt from it.You can take comfort from the fact that we (I) too have all been through such situations which seem to come together and test our resilience - dont give up, do your best and yes do take all the help you can get and come out of it, which I am sure you will and be much stronger...Another thing is, we can never go back in life so don't look back, just be focused firmly about your future, this attitude helps immensely, I know since I have been through such phases in life - all the best and take care

Hi Nice, since you know what your problem is you can sort it out through self analysis and going deep into your mind so that you get to pin point and see where this worry is coming from ? once that is done all that you have to do is take some practical steps to get over it..it is not really that difficult to get over if you make a sincere effort - all the best and happy mylotting

I went to a naturopathic doctor. He taught me to figure out what was going on in my body, what made me happy, unhappy etc., and to focus on the things that made me feel happy, healthy, etc.

Hi KiranG- No, depression is not the right word for me, not in my case particularly. You can call it disappointment at the most but for a very short span of time. I have gone through so many such moments in my life being a marketing professional but I was trained to counter such moments. In case of experiences of life, these are part of the life and should be tackled that way. Maybe a few hours or even minutes and I am back on track. I have a punching bag in my personal room to make me free out of such problems. Cheers.

Sunul, I too am a little like you, am able to bounce back in no time at all.It is great that you are so positive about things, no point in crying over spilled milk or over anything for that matter, the past is past and we have to concentrate on the present before that too becomes past ...

We each have our own share of problems which sometimes lead to depression but since we are individually different from one another, coping with it differs too. As for me, I've been depressed a lot of times. Big time or just a simple depression that would only make me feel low for a short time. Depression hit me badly about 6-7 years back then. Good thing I still have my family to depend on and they embraced the whole of me no matter what had happened. A good support group helps one overcome depression easily.

Hi tetris, thanks a lot for your response I agree that when you have a strong support system of family and friends it becomes much easier to cope since they take part of your burden by communicating and giving you inner strength...It is good that you were able to come out of it and go on with your life, all the best and have a nice day

I was very depressed as a teenager partly because I was being bullied. I'm not sure how I got out of it I just did. The bullying stops and I grew older and stronger. It was a difficult time but I'm glad I went through it because its made me the person I am today.
