Got bad news

Well the 17th was my son's birthday and instead of having a nice day we both received some bad news. I really don't want to say what it is as it is very personal and only one person outside of the family know about it. It gets me wondering, of the 365 days of the year why does bad news have to come on birthdays, Christmas, or any meaningful holiday.

I don't know why this happens to some people. I've never had bad things happen on holidays or birthdays. I'm sorry to hear that your family is going through a bad time. I hope it gets better real soon!!

yes, I am very lucky and I'm grateful for that. I can't imagine what it feels like being in your spot. My heart does go out to you. If I came across as cold, please know that is not at all how I felt.

I'm awkward with words when someone is hurting anyway but without knowing just what you are facing, it is even more so. I can tell by your wording that it is a very painful time for you and your family and for that, I will pray for you all.

I think it is a test. And has to do with fate. Fate is a fickle thing and just comes whenever it feels the least bit of whimsy. Sometimes there is just no explanation but it does give us a reason to pause and wonder about life and the way things go. I think that is most of it.

oh it is definitely a test, a test of strength and how much we can endure.

But that is life. Giving life as one goes out. Sad but I think it is the way it is supposed to be.

Looks like a lot of friends here gave you some comfort, wisdom and encouragement. That's pretty neat. Hang in there, my friend. From what I've read in your previous posts, you're a strong woman. Sorry you're going through this but I hope you find that light at the end of the dark tunnel. I know you will. You know me, so I'll just say, God's timing is great (sometimes it doesn't feel so) and He watches over you.

If we count all of the special days we have in a year and if we divide that number by 365 , we get the proportion and the chance for a certain thing to happen on one of those days. In my family, we have 5 family members, we have our grandmother, 5 cousins, they all celebrate birthday. If I add the holidays, those are additional 60 days ( we have Chanuka, Passover, Shavuot, Rosh Hashana, and more...). It comes to about 70 divided by 365. That is the chance for an event to happen on one of those 70 days in a year. We also live many years, allowing many experiments to happen. Most of the times, the bad news don't happen on a special day. I guess the amount of bad news is also a factor on the chance to fall on a special day. Of course we can be unlucky and all the bad news can happen on special days. But, then, I believe, someone else has a better life.

ok your explanation was scientific I know because this is my field, however, you lost it when you said unlucky, because scientists don't believe in luck, just change. lol. I don't have as many holidays as you do, for me birthdays and Christmas, or New Years is important, and Easter so for me that is 6 days in a year, yet of course bad news will come anytime, but too many situations in my life have happened directly on a special day, throwing the chance factor out of the picture.

It's nice to know your field is in science. I like science since I was a child. I know it's not true, but, even if someone rolled a dice 100 times and got 6 all the times, the chance for him to get 6 again is also 1/6. Many people will think his chance is almost zero because of the small chance to get 101 times in a row the same number, 6... I can understand them. I also think it is possible that someone will try ?to roll the dice 100 times and each time will get a different number than the previous number.

Whatever it is just cheer yourself up. All problems have solutions. All of us has a lot of friends so, it is not hard to solve your problem. You have your family and they can help you. Christmas season is time for joy so, don't let it ruin your day.

you cannot say that because you do not know the severity of the issue I am facing. Not everything has a solution, not everything can be worked out, and not everything will blow over in time.

Sometimes, when something good happens to us, we don't notice or don't realize what date is. But when something bad occurs, we always want to look for a reason, and try to make connections, to give an explanation of what have happened. For me, things happen only for coincidence, don't waste your time looking for a reason, and I hope your problems will mend soon.

trust me I know the science behind it, but the probability of bad things happening on good days because I only have a fun such indicate that there is less than 90 percent chance they will happen on those particular days, as we have 365 days a year.

Sad to hear that winterose. i guess these bad news always come to remind us that we're living on earth and not on heaven. this is what the life is all about. good news sometimes accompanied with bad news. we have to live with it whether or not we like it. besides, sometimes God makes us go through these kinds of news in order to make us stronger and ready for the upcoming ups and downs in the years to come. don't worry my dear friend, tough times never last but tough people do. Do not be afriad by the gust of the wind that flows against you, they are meant to fly you higher. May God gives you and your family a real strength to deal with these harships..take care.

The reason for that is even though the day is special to an individual, family, or group, in the greater scene of things, it's just a day like any other day.

I know we cannot control events, that is not my discussion, my discussion is have you found that bad news comes on what is supposed to be a joyful occasion.
