I greatly appreciate it, no really I do.. It was so convenient of you to have taken that out at the most unopportune time. $5.00 that I thought I HAD, that I EARNED, gone.. Yep just friggin gone. No, No it's okay, really Thank You. I knew it was going to happen but since it hadn't yet, and I forgot the exact date, I figured well maybe they came to their senses, nope. My bank if you don't have $1,500 in the bank account at all times, or $500.00 going into it regularly then you get charged a $5.00 monthly service fee. I got charged this apparently the other day, hadn't checked my account but knew I had like $12.00 in there atleast. So when I go and make a $8.00 sheetz purchase, I'm not expecting this overdraft. I go check my bank account this morning just to see how much I had left as I really wasn't sure but KNEW I hadn't overdrawn... NOPE because of the stupid fee.. Well atleast I have overdraft protection. I am so irritated! I was going to go with another bank but then that'd be inconvenient to me because I don't drive. I can't just go get my paycheck every tuesday until the new bank account information is submitted to the head office, grr! I may just go ahead and do it anyway though, I am sure they will hold my paycheck until the next day when I work, but then I'd also have to go to whatever new bank I decided on and deposit it in that bank to PAY my bills. GRR! No I'm keeping my stupid bank, just remembering that I have to make sure I have that extra $5.00 for them to steal!.. Do you use a credit union or a bank?

I would cry if I only had $12 in my account . I wont tell you what I currently have, I have overdraft protection as well, and knock on wood havent used it. I have never heard of one of those accounts before, mine doesnt have that. But I do pay a $4 fee each month. So do you pay a fee or just if you have under the amount stated?. I would be flying as I usually have at least $1,000 in my account, and the transfer so much into savings each months. I have a chequeing account at the bank, savings account at the bank, and a several savings account at the credit union. I have at least $14,000 saved up between the accounts at the credit union (emergency, house, retirement, and misc. savings), and about $2,000 in my high interest, and I;m not sure whats in my chequeing as I havent checked and I just got paid.

I know that credit unions do operate differently. I have a basic checking at the bank, and they've started this fee. I used to be able to keep more in the account and will be able to do this again now that I am working more, or will be working more, but $12.00 is actually a bonus for me. I pay for groceries, which nets me about $50.00 each week of paying for those, and if I don't I'm eating junk food that family has bought, not good at all.

I am a big fan of the small and the local. That view extends to banks and credit unions as well. It may be inconvenient for you to change banks right now, but it will be worth it. In the long run, you will have far fewer hassles if you are with a small, local bank or credit union than if you remain with your current mega-bank.

I am trying to think of any small local banks and I can't really think of many. I think there is one but the only branch I know of is all the way really inconvenient to me. I am going to stick with what I have until I can change it. I have thought of even going with banks online as they don't seem to have fees, even at tellers, but I am not sure yet if I will do that.

I use a credit union, and they don't charge a fee, but the bank where the old joint acct is (R puts money in there for the kids) charges $7 a month.

It would be $7.00 if I didn't get the online statements instead of the paper! Bull Crap charges that the banks don't need!

That is so ludricrous to me. I would be irritated too! You would think that the people with the more money would have to pay a service fee because they have the money to be moved around. I had a beef with Wells Fargo years ago. They put money in my account that wasn't mine. I called them on it. They said that if in 30 days if they couldn't find the owner then the money was mine. I thought if that were me and I was without the money I would have an issue with the bank. No one reported and they never found the person who lost the money. It was their stupidity. I am now with US Bank and they don't charge me for such things. I am sure you could find a bank that didn't.

Wells Fargo just switched over for us here in NC. For the longest time it was Wachovia and I really had no beef with them. I need to just tough it up and switch over though because the fees are just a way for banks to steal. I make $80.00 per paycheck and I need that money, at the end of this month I have a $33.00 payment to go out and at the beginning of the next I have my $45.00 cellphone bill. Not to mention groceries that I get each Tuesday and the fact I am trying to save to take another class. That $5.00 I could have used.

I use a bank and the service fee that is charged is ridiculous. They charge me when I deposit and also when I withdraw To get around that I deposit in the deposit box in the bank as there no service charges are made. It is no good complaining as the baks cinnive with each other and all the banks do this at home

In my opinion the banks don't really NEED the money that they charge us with. It's annoying that they even implement the fees at all! They should be glad for our business, not trying to push us out the door because of it! I think for most banks here we have a limit we can withdraw a day, but no fee conerning it UNLESS it's not from one of there automatic tellers.

I was SO mad too the other day when I saw the $5 taken out of my account. Thank God I did not overdraft it but I almost did, I just had a feeling to check my account before I paid for my daughter's Home Schooling program! I am SO glad I checked. That $5 made a big difference and it ticks me off that they take it out for no good reason... That is MY money, NOT theirs!! Here every bank is doing it now so there is no other bank to go to, they are ALL taking out these STUPID fees! They are crooks for stealing our money, that is what they are doing and it is really unfair but I know there is nothing we can do about it. So unfair!

When I wrote this I was thinking of trying to find an online petition to sign against what wells fargo is doing. You know last night I had the feeling that I should have checked my bank account before I left or called while I was on break but I didn't. I hate that I didn't but I suppose this is a lesson learned. I really don't have the money for them to take the $5.00 each month. I hate it and it is HIGHWAY ROBBERY! They shouldn't be allowed to get away with it.

I use small local/regional banks, and they do not charge me fees. In fact one of them pays interest on my checking accounts. Credit unions are great as well. Huge national banks are a pain.

Wells Fargo is where I bank. I knew that this fee would be in place, they gave us fair warning but I thought that since it hadn't gone out yet (I forget which date it was supposed to exactly) that they'd come to their senses. I called a credit union I was with at one point and they said "Well come on over, we'd love to have you BUT our new policy is you have to wait 6 months for a debit card" I was like "Thanks but no thanks." There is a credit union that our store uses and maybe if I were to go with that credit union my money would be Re - DD'd faster.

I use use a regular bank, and I pay no fees. The only thing I have to pay for is my checks, and I don't get them from the bank. In fact, once a check got lost, and I had to cancel it. They did charge me a fee, but I called them the next day and they refunded it to me. I guess I have a good bank.

Hi some, I am so sorry you are caught up in that scheme of the $5.00.. I deal with the same bank and checked to weather that withdrawal would pretain to my account and found out that, even tho my monies are deposited directly into my bank, I am exempt from that withdrawal....thank God....Its not a lot but when things happen like what just happened to you, its goes from $5.00 to $35.00. thats alot.....

It didn't turn into that fee because I have overdraft protection, thankfully. However before I did I had that fee and it was horrible! When I reopened another account I opened a way2save with the option of overdraft.

Except I hardly ever use it anymore! Lol. I always hit the credit option instead of debit when checking out. I live in the South, it used to be Wachovia for us, I realize that WellsFargo calls it something different, but I'll always call it way2save lol.
