As many of you know, my old washer and dryer are from 1986 and just limping along. The washer doesn't want to turn off the water. It's held together by duct tape because the vibration made the thing literally come apart at the seams. The feet to balance it have been replaced, there are no more that fit it and the ones that are there are stripped. The dryer runs too hot and we have to shut it down. The belt slips out of place but goes back in and after it starts up and back out of place as it shuts down. We have to babysit our two appliances. The reason why I haven't been online much lately is for a good reason. I'm precleaning and a friend of mine is finishing the cleaning and then coming back and keeping it up. My hubbie cleaned the porch and she's been keeping that clean. I cleaned the staircase and she's been keeping that clean. Then my hubbie and I both cleaned the living room and she's been keeping that clean. That, tutoring, and medical have been keeping me pretty busy. It's nice to have a clean living room, porch and stair case. Onto the bathroom! I have a hill of clothes as high as the washer and dryer to get thru. But the washer and dryer probably won't withstand it. So I'll throw a bunch of clothes in plastic bags and send my friend to the laundramat when the machines and I need a rest. I also have been doing a little crochet and weaving, but not very much or very often. Mostly reading or resting when not doing the above. The new washer and dryer are guaranteed for 10 years and have all metal parts. They're medium end and more energy efficient. So lower electric bills. We're getting them from the same guy who sold me my 1986 pair. He's great at repairs and customer service. He knocked a little off the price for paying all in cash and buying both at the same time. So have you ever had anything for a really long time? Do you get great repairs and customer service? Have you ever gotten behind in cleaning? Have you had someone help you keep things clean? So now you see why I haven't been here as much. After the bathroom, just two more rooms on the first floor. The computer/dining room and the kitchen are all that's left and the first floor will be clean!

When my old washer got broken, I was in panic mode! It is so difficult to do the laundry for all 4 kids' clothes especially that they all wear uniforms. Oh my hands got swollen! Thank God for this invention! It won't take me forever to finish doing the laundry.

I hope you were able to get a waher fairly quickly. Otherwise, you could be spending all your time washing clothes.

Sounds like you have been very busy! Most of my appliances I have had for as long as they will work..lol. I do have a few new ones now, which is very nice, but the ones they replaced REALLY needed it. I have alot of things I want to do with my house. You have inspired me.

Yes, I can understand the really need it aspect of waiting to get new appliances. I've been babysitting these two for a year now. So what are all the things you want to do with your house?

I am always behind on almost all of my cleaning. This week I am making a computer and sewing office out of a dressing room/closet that has been many other things in the last twenty five years. My appliances used to last almost forever. Then I got newer ones and it seems they are not as well made as they used to be. I have had my washer, dryer, refrigerator, freezer and dishwasher for about fifteen years. They probably cost what a high end washer and dryer set costs today, for all of them. I look for them to all fall apart very soon. We did have to take the refrigerator out and repair it this year. Just waiting on the other stuff to happen.

Oh goodness, I know. The furnace is 12 years old and squeeking. The back of the fridge freezes stuff and is 11. It's so easy to get behind in cleaning and so hard to keep up. Bedridden 3 or 4 days out of 7 with chemo and then so many things to catch up on. I get discouraged and it doesn't take much.

I know we have a car for 11 years now. That is a Mitsubishi Magnum. It needs some fixing but it's normal most of the time. We sometimes clean the house. My mother has a brother that is divorced and his ex-wife comes to clean our house sometimes for money. I clean our garden more than I clean the house. I sometimes just grab the dust sweeper and sweep the floor, get a wet towel with a bucket with water, sweep the floor with that towel...I don't like just dropping the water on the floor, I have to manipulate it all the time... Cleaning doesn't control me. I do it when I feel like doing it and I do small parts at a time so I can take a break and continue later (maybe next day, lol).

Good that your car is well at 11 years of ownership. Sounds like you have a system for cleaning that works for all of you and that is wonderful. I think once we get the house back under control, I will have a system that works for me, too. Eventually. I just ha ve to believe and keep on working at it. Thanks for dropping by and take care.

Hey glad to know that u are very soon getting a new washer and a dryer to your home and i am sure u must be on cloud nine to welcome home new things into your house. It is always great to get new things to your house as a replacement to the old and obsolete items and it increases the enthusiasm and the excitement within u to use them. What say?

Good for you. Your washer and dryer sound like they really could use a retirement. I suddenly remember that my own washer needs replacement. It doesn't drain the water that well anymore. I have gotten behind my cleaning a couple of times before, especially when it was audit season. Sadly I don't have a friend back then who could come and help me clean up.

Thanks. There are many reasons why they don't drain well. I hope it's nothing major. I'm very lucky in the friend department. Thanks for dropping by. It's nice to meet you.

It sounds like you really needed the new washer and dryer. Very happy for you that you are able to do this. I live in a low income apartment complex. They have washers and dryers in each unit. We have been here for nearly twenty years and no breakdown. I think they are GE.

The old GEs were excellent. Mine are Maytag. That's pretty nice low income apartment. Here low income usually means you have to go to a laundramat. Thank you, I'm happy for me that I can do this right now, too. May good fortune happen to both of us in our futures. Thanks and take care.

Yes, they are. I think the Maytags are the ones they use in the wash houses. our place is a Section 8 and we have a dishwasher and self cleaning ovens too. It was nice when we moved in. It needs some paint and some work after living here for about a dozen years. Good fortune in our futures. You take care too.

ello writersedge, that sounds exciting, and beautifully planned and organised. getting a new washing machine and dryer sounds sensible, seems like you kept the old one a bit too long, though it sounds like a sentimental attachment to it. then you can clear all the washing, actually i have loads of things that never get washed, i always manage to wash the things i wear a lot, but slowly a pile of clothes that aren't worn often enough builds up at the bottom, as i think i'll do that next time, and never do, and then it gradually gets bigger. as for being behind in the cleaning, well i don't know, my possesions don't like me, they are never in the right place, and i am sure when i am out they deliberately mess themselves up, so i never quite get tidy. though my mother was always very tidy, i obviously didn't inherit that gene. though it will be nice for you when its done, as its just so much more relaxing to be on top of the cleaning and housework.
