I didn't like washing the dishes. But I had thought out a good idea to make it fun. When I wash the dishes, now I will also let my mobile phone to play the audio books. Then I enjoy listening to the ebooks while I am washing the dishes. It makes this housework less boring

I like to listen to lively music when I do housework, and dance around while doing it, makes it more fun.

When I had the house remodeled in 1999, a dishwasher was a must! Even when the first one broke, I had to use it as a place to dry my dishes because the cat's would've seen to it that I would've had to rewashed them. Yes, I could've put the roommate to dry them, but she doesn't see real well... and the new one is even more blind than she is - as in totally blind!

I used to always watch my favorite westerns on Saturday morning on cable WGTN. Now they are all mixed up all over the channels. And music is always nice to listen to. Anything to make the housework less boring. I do agree. Dancing alittle and washing alittle. There we go!

Dishes and clothes, both of which the machines do most of the work, are about my favorite household jobs... need to go load the dishwasher now, but here I sit instead! I'll probably do it before bed anyway.

Unfortunately not everyone has a dishwasher, so dishes are done manually.

That was the second thing (after an second bathroom) on my list of "musts" in the remodel! Even if its broken, I can dry the hand washed dishes in it because the cats would make them dirty again. My major objection to washing by hand is the really hot water to get them sterilized, or at least as near as possible. I have my dishes pretty much without soap, but clean when they go in the dishwasher, because I've never had a dishwasher live up to its "pot scrubber" name. But I can't take extremely hot water, must be part of the fibro, so I prefer to use the dishwasher to do the soap and "hot" stuff.

That is a creative way to make dishes less boring.. One trick that I do when I am doing dishes is racing the coffee pot.. I am a coffee drinker, and I am just standing around waiting for it do get done.. So if there is dishes to be washed or counters to be wiped up or a quick sweep, etc.. I race the coffee pot.. then that fresh cup of coffee tastes that much better..

It's good you found a way to make your house chores interesting. For me, listening to music make my work lighter. Although maybe it's weird that for me, of all the house work, I really love washing dishes. I don't know why. That and cooking are household chores that I really like to do.

I on the other hand, like washing the dishes. It is actually my favorite household chore. But that's a good idea. I never thought to use my audio books that way. Thanks for the idea!

This is very similar to the approach that I often use, the only difference being what I listen to in order take my mind of the mundane duties. I love opera, and have a decent collection of full length operas on both CD and DVD. This is very convenient because I can listen to an opera for a couple of hours and carry on cleaning or ironing etcetera. This does mean that it takes a bit longer because my mind is focused on the music and I progress more slower, although I prefer to take two hours rather than be bored for one hour.

It's great idea youless to make your dish washing full of fun. Really, the tedious kitchen work would be completed unconsciously while listening interesting story ... We have an old model radio in our kitchen that serves very well, especially it's sound system. I always keep the radio on and listening to songs and news while busy in the kitchen. Yeah, we have to find way to make our kitchen work more fun Happy posting

At least we don't have to focus on the housework completely and it will be less tiring and boring.

Ikbooi, in my parents former home, they always keep a radio in their kitchen. It serves the same purposes like in your kitchen. At least, time passes in the kitchen would be more interesting and meaningful.

Youless, that's a good way to overcome your boring while completing your washing dishes. As for me her, me and my sisters would share washing the dishes whenever we had our meals. Because most of the time, we are eating together. So, to cut the boring time, we would usually spend time talking about funny and interesting stories while do the cleaning. In the end, the dishes are cleaned and we are free to do our own matters. Have a nice weekend......

The joys of multi-tasking! I find music for me does the same thing, whenever I am working out at the gym on the treadmill I have to have my Ipod on otherwise it becomes boring and I don't do the full amount of time I allot. I get lost in the music and the time flies by! On Saturday Star Wars was being played on the television, so I positioned myself right in front of the television, or as close as I could get on the cross trainer, I actually ended up working out extra time on the cross trainer because it had got to a good bit in the film! However nothing could take away the horrid task of ironing!

i have a cd player and a radio in the kitchen so when i have to do dishes, i pop on the radio and listen or put on a cd or even listen to my ipod but books are a great idea. Because we have a computer in the kitchen, i have even listened to old radio shows and music as well.

I do exactly the same. I turn on my radio or music for me to listen to while I am doing some household chores, even when I am using the bathroom. I want to make every bit of time to get to know something new on the radio or listen to some music. I prefer listening to news. Enjoy your life, youless.
