What Race was Adam? Was he white, black, yellow, brown - any other? Where did so many races come from?

I think Adam must have been pretty fair. Then his kids and grand kids fought. Each separating out, and moving in different directions. They got acclamatized to different climates in different parts of the world. Their language too underwent change based on the climatic compulsions on their jaw muscles. Changes in pronunciations became more pronounced over a period, as did changes in skin color. That is how different races emerged. Nice blend of science and theology.. Good question allknowing..

I think it does affect skin color, features, and the way we pronounce the words. As humans keep getting closer to tropical zones they keep losing height till they became pigmies. The same happens toward polar regions. This may have something to do with atmospheric pressure. Effectively only the genes from temperate zone are taller. Skin gets acclamatized to absorb the right amount of heat and vitamin d from sunrays. This process happens over several generations. So my theory is - if you take a latitude that is exactly half way between the polar region and the tropical region, and view the color going downwards or upwards you would find change in skin color. People in race towards equator become browner and people above reddish or ruddier. :) Then why is it that Chinese and Japanese have smaller eyes? This too has something to do with the geographical positioning. Perhaps some effect of seas and the mountain terrain affects the way sun's rays reach them, and their eyes tend to close to reduce the glare perhaps. A better answer may be offered by any anthropologist. :) I am just trying to be as scientific as possible.

How can climate affect one's colour Vandana. Do you mean to say if you were born in Japan you would get those little eyes and that colour!. Put on your thinking cap and give me something I can chew on!

I am chewing alright but am not getting any substance!. For eons Japanese are yellow and Indians are brown and even if Indians live in Japan for hundred years or more they will never develop that skin nor the eyes!! Over to vandana!

I was going to answer pretty much what Suspensful said, only adding that since the Garden of Eden is believed to have been between the Tigris and Euphrates, Adam probably had mostly Semitic features. I believe, as she does, that when the races were scattered environmental factors had an effect on our appearance and our features. Even what our ancestors ate could have affected their development. We all start out though as members of the human race.

I cannot attribute change in colour or features because of the environment around but to the genes. In this case they are the genes of Adam and Eve and I wonder in awe how for example the Yellow Race came about!! Even about Adam, I am still at sea!

Going back to Adam and Eve only, they had Cain and Abel as their first two offspring. Cain slew Abel and was banished. The Bible mentions that East of Eden there were "giants" in the land. Not sure who they were, but Cain took a wife there. That is your first bio diversity. I am sure God created the "giants" as well, but the Bible does not explain. Then later the Bible talks about the angels (I think) looking with desire on the daughters of men. More biodiversity. I do not have a Bible in this room, so I will have to look it up some more tomorrow. By the time we get to Noah, tradition has it that there are some obvious racial differences. Ham is said to be Black, if I am not mistaken. The sons and daughters of Adam and Eve did intermarry, we are told, but like your dog, sometimes recessive genes are evidenced in the off spring. If people continuously breed only with people who are like them, eventually certain traits become dominant. I was also thinking, when I mentioned the environment, that as each language group spread out from Babel, they were exposed to different types of food, different minerals in the soil, etc and that is what affected them. I am sure I am not making a strong argument as most of it is just how I have come to believe. I had a roommate in college that always said that when she got to heaven she would sit at Jesus feet and ask him all the questions that she could think of. I believe that as people were in isolated groups they continually inbred causing different characteristics to become prominent.

Thank you GG for the effort you put in to respond. That giant theory appeals to me but again even I will fall at the feet of Jesus when I go up there, hopefully! and ask Him a lot more on this!

The best way to know the race of Adam is to die and go to the spirit of Adam and ask him. All the races were created by humans. If you want to be a superior leader than you can also create a new race. And tell people to join your race. If you succeed, then after many years people of your created race will worship you as god.

@barood - In other words no person living alive will give me the answer. I will take your advice and the first thing I will do when I am gone is to meet Adam. @balipromo -
