Since November 8th of last year up until the 13th of of september I was on some form of birth control. But after a trip to the Er I was told that I couldn't take birth control and that it wasn't safe for me. Well up until I took the depo I knew my body and my cycle very well but once I got on the depo shot it completely screwed my cycle up. However when I started taking yaz my cycle started to once again become closer to normal. So I stopped taking yaz last month and my last menstrual cycle was on the 9th of september. I was starting to monitor my cycle with a phone app but a couple days ago it dawned on me that I hadn't entered in my cycle correctly and now I'm beginning to realize that I'm over a week-almost 2 weeks late. Now I am getting menstrual cycle symptoms.. cramps, moodiness, bloating, tender breasts.. but I know all these could be signs of pregnancy too. I've taken 3 tests so far (one name brand and 2 from the dollar store) and so far its been negative. But I'm just starting to worry because while my cycles has always been a little bit longer then the standard 28 days, its usually regular... how long can it take for a test to show positive if I am pregnant? So.. any advise would help...

It's hard to say because birth control really messes with the hormones of females and the depo shot especially can mess with your menstrual cycle. One of my ex-girlfriends used to get the depo shot and she would go months without getting her period. If the tests are coming back negative you probably don't have anything to worry about. I'm not a woman though so I'm not the right person to ask but I hope that everything works out for you.

I know that it can be hard to relax when you're worrying about whether or not you're pregnant, but please try to. It's totally normal for your cycles to be irregular when you're coming off hormonal birth control, even if you had regular periods while you were on it. It takes time for your body to get used to making all of its own hormones again. You've taken three tests already and they have all come out negative. Most pregnancy tests can detect the pregnancy hormone within a few days of the fertilized egg implanting in the uterus. That's usually around 10-14 days after ovulation and right around the time that you'd be expecting your period. The tough thing about your situation is that you might not have ovulated like you normally would this cycle because you're coming off the birth control. If I were you, I would wait at least another week before taking another test. When you do it, use it first thing in the morning since the hormone is easier to detect in more concentrated urine.

It sounds to me like your question's been answered very well, but I thought I'd add my 2 cents worth, that if three tests said negative, the odds are that you are not pregnant.

Many of the pregnancy tests can show results in a few minutes. You could be getting a false negative because of a lack of pregnancy hormones. If I were you, I wouldn't take any chances and see a doctor. What you are experiencing could be other problems. Wish I could help you out with more with this one.

You know that Yaz is one of the products that there is a class action on right? My daughter took Depo for a while and she had irregular periods. I would get one of those over the coundter pregnancy tests and see what it says. Hopefully it is just the irregularity of the Depo. I wouldn't take the Yaz anymore and check with a doctor when you are able.

You may not be pregnant , sometimes when your cycle get mess up even a month can pass without seeing your period . You already take two test that say negative only other thing you could do to be sure is see a doctor now . I think 2 week to a month is good enough time to know i your pregnant with a home test but you can see a doctor that can tell you right away .

Thanks a ton for posting this discussion. Well i think once u get such symptoms then u should take pregnancy tests and confirm about your pregnancy as during your pregnancy period u have to be very much cautious about everything starting from your diet, your health, etc. U should consult a good doctor who would confirm your pregnancy as soon as possible. What say?
