Another commute to work

So, I live a pretty boring life, so I have to tell you guys when I see something interesting. Like this morning. First, the totally blind roommate overdrew her account and so I was running to pull some money to put in her account to keep her out of trouble, this involved running to one bank and then to her bank, but it meant that I had to leave the house early and, I was thinking it would be easier to go via Lamar rather than the interstate, I turned right instead of left from my house. Bad move, but... Okay, lets start with the fact that traffic was jammed up because I didn't know that Lamar was down to one lane south bound (the direction I needed) due to some construction. But, to top it off, there were 5 SUVs, 2 police cars, a fire engine and an ambulance in the parking lot of a restaurant across the street from my cross street (happily I have a traffic light there now that I didn't have for the first 20+ years of living in this house.) So, I got the time of 2 changes of the light to watch people walking between the SUVs and writing stuff down (probably exchanging insurance information.) When I got around the corner, I saw that the right lane was closed, but I decided to turn right at the next light and detour around the construction that way. Not too hopeful, I turned on the A.M. radio news station in hopes to hear the traffic and maybe learn a bit about the accident. Astonishingly, they actually reported that there was an injury accident at "Lamar and Rutland" well, that was OBVIOUSLY the accident in question since anyone driving along Lamar would KNOW Rutland and would NOT know the side street that I live off of. Now, I was nearly hit by a jerk doing probably 50 in a 35 MPH zone who I'm pretty happy to think would in a few moments would discover he had just landed in a HUGE traffic snarl at the next light. So, while I don't know what exactly happened or WHAT they were constructing at rush hour on a MAJOR thoroughfare, I did actually hear about it on the radio - I guess better after the fact than not at all. Of course, I was too busy LOOKING to bother turning on the radio BEFORE I had passed it. So... anything interesting happen on your way to work?

I think there is a major epidemic of road repairs on main streets throughout the country. Our Main Street is about half torn up for half the distance across town. That is the street I take to work. I go in in the dark and there is seldom anything maor going on there, so I have to just say that the construction is the major excitement here.

Maybe it is the humidity? Some cynical people would say it is near the end of the month and the police are trying to make their quota.

Ya know, today it seemed I was always seeing police cars with other cars off in parking lots. One had some kind of city service truck and another car and the other had a cable company truck pulled over (didn't notice if there were any other cars there - pretty full parking lot actually.) If it had been raining, I could blame it on that, Texans don't seem to know how to drive in the rain, but it hasn't rained in well over a week!

I few weeks ago on the way to work I was behind a car on the county road I take until I get to the highway. The car in front of me,turned on its signal light to go right. So I started to go around the left side. Soon as I did the jerk turns left at the golf course! Never bothered to switch their signal light! I ended up slamming on my brakes! Did not hit the person but got close! I did squeal the tires and there still is tire marks on the road where I slammed my brakes! One of theses days I will get in an accident and it won't be my fault! So sick of the crazy drivers!

Today was a pretty ordinary day. Nothing out of the ordinary happened which was good. It was raining on the way home so everyone had to go a little slower to drive safe, but everything was good. Just glad to get to and from work with just the normal amount of traffic and time.

Nope, nada, zilch. Made it to the bathroom ok, didn't fall down the stairs or trip on the carpet, stove lit ok, didn't spill my tea, chair didn't fall apart, computer/internet seem to be behaving themselves... Yesterday, though, a friend's crazy mother phoned me and went on and on about something that happened in the past, while I reeeely had to pee, and someone was at the door...

I've had the roomie sitting on the phone, saying she needs to go and I have to remind her - its a CORDLESS PHONE! But it does seem that you are on the pot when the phone rings or the door bell does!

I got a set of cordless phones after Maggiepie spent over 12 hours on the floor because she couldn't reach her phone and can't get up on her own... Now she has a phone in her walker if she should fall - I think she used it this last weekend.

All my phones are corded (don't trust cordless ones), and luckily, it was a good friend at the door who knows I don't lock the door when I'm home, so walked in. But it was a good excuse to get off the phone.

You should have listened in to the radio, then you would know what happened there and went via the interstate. More haste, less speed,as is often the case with us.

Well, I doubt I would've heard about it before I got there since it is only a couple of blocks from my house. Besides, the interstate has been a NIGHTMARE all week! And listening to the traffic it was all about the other tie ups BEFORE they got to the accident by my house.

well, no, I had started early so I could go by the bank, so I wasn't late. The totally blind roommate has disability that she receives from the government.

I guess You was probably a little late that day due to a strange combination of a couple of things.May I digress from the topic? I wonder what your roommate who is totally blind lives off ? She is fortunate enough to meet such a kind-hearted one as you.
