Chronic Wound Update: I Am Keeping Optomistic

Almost everyone here is aware of all the trauma I have had to endure with this Chronic wound, and all the different things I have tried over the yrs. I have gone thru good times, bad times, and many times of hope. In the process I have learned a lot, learned to Trust God a little more and know there is a Time and Season for everything. We are coming to the end of 2012, and also my last Hyperbaric oxygen session which is ending December 27th. It has been a time of trial and progression. Is my wound as good as I had hoped? Is there anything I could have done different? And then the ok, what's next. I truly thank everyone here for their thoughts, suggestions and Prayers as many days this is all that can help get me by. It truly has been a struggle, but I feel this is only a start of Great things yet to come. Even the days I am filled with Fear, I just keep believing God is still in control, and better things are yet to come. My wound is not completely healed, but the wound is pretty much surface now. It will not be completely healed unless a miracle happens before the end of the yr. but should be down to a good managable yet still continuing to heal level. A lot of it will just have to rely on my Body taking it time to heal this, and being able to keep the sugars, etc. under control still as well. As to the next step with the wound clinic, etc. I am in the process of trying to find out. I have pretty much run out of ideas, unless they want to try a skin graph or something. But whatever they do will have to be between me, my doctors and the OK from my insurance as well. All I can say is I continue to be optomistic and continue to hope for the Best. Just keep praying, and one day this too shall pass. ~~TINA~~

The power of prayer and positive thinking can do a lot, definitely--also have you tried vitamin K oil, vitamin E oil or Shea butter? A friend of mine who always was getting split skin and sores (she has severe edema and is diabetic) says they work well for her, and keep her skin nice and soft and elastic. My gram also used to do salt soaks for her leg sores--she'd make a super saturated salt soak, lots of hot water, Epsom salts and sea salt, and soak her feet, because when her feet swelled the skin would split. She said it stung, badly, but it seemed to work. It certainly took down the swelling, both from edema and her rheumatoid arthritis. I thought of that the other day, so I'm glad you posted this so I remembered to tell you.

I have tried Vitamin E for my legs, and tea tree oil. Someone from my work is supposed to be bringing me some Honey. As for soaking my legs in salt not sure if it would work. But I do have a lot of problems with edema and swelling and they say this is not helping the wound to heal completely as well. All I can say is I keep it in Gods hands and have a couple of ideas in the works. Just needing to remember no matter what to always keep positive as well.

You have to be my friend when it comes to going thru something like this, and each time I see progression it helps keep me more positive and thinking about that we are finally moving in the right direction, and if it stays this way we are only going to keep moving up from here.

Being optimistic and praying is going to also play a big part in you making it all the way to wholeness. I know there are days that are just too much and too frightening, but you have made it thus far for a good reason, press on to the mark and keep going.

Yes, there are days even yet still where I start feeling Frustrated and asking "Wjy Me God?" It just never seems to amaze me how everytime I start feeling frustrated and down, someone here or someone I know will say something of encouragement, while knowing there are many out there Praying and believing with me.

If you are eating healthfully, not smoking (and avoiding secondhand smoke) and getting exercise, your body should be able to heal in time. It is only a matter of how much time it will take--and how much additional help your body will need from the doctors. Vitamins A and E are important in healing chronic wounds. The same is true of Vitamin C and protein. Livestrong actually has some very good information regarding the healing of chronic wounds: http://www.livestrong.com/article/300827-wound-healing-diet/

I have been really upping my protein intake lately. Been doing a protein shake even. A lot of the issue is also being Diabetic and having problems with the veins in the leg with the wound not working right like it should. But I am believing and trusting God for 2013 and all great things to come.

I am so glad that there is still some progress going on. We will hope that it has reached the place in the healing process that it will continue to heal without even needing a doctor! As long as it keeps getting better, that's what counts!

That would be nice. Right now I am not ready to say that or go that far with it, but getting frustrated that it sometimes takes so long for them to really make a decision they are wanting to go with. When they tell you one thing, and to ask one doctor and then another Doctor knows nothing about this, it makes you wonder what it will take for them to ever get on the ball and help this more from here.

Praise be to God! You have been running the race to be free of this wound. Keep on keeping on. I just am reminded of Brother Paul and his teachings. Be content in whatever state you find yourself and give God the Glory. You are doing that my dear friend. I have tears in my eyes from joy and relief. I feel like I have been there with you through the bad times and you always hang tough in Christ. Blessings.

Well, after the 27th they have to switch to something else to heal it, as 60 treatments at any one time, is always the norm most insurances will allow. So I have been talking with the one doctor and she is putting in a word for the Wound clinic doctor I have on what to do from here, and will be talking with the Wound care doctor tomorrow. But things are still looking good, so keeping my chin up from here.

Very glad. I never doubted it would help. It was the wound clinic thinking my wound was not bad enough and blaming everything on my sugar levels and a1c.

I think the best thing is that you have an optomistic attitude about this. I think that really helps a lot. I am glad to hear that there has been progress which hopefully will continue in the future and get better. Maybe by the end of this next year you will be writing how its been totally healed and how thankful you are :)

Well, I am still feeling optomistic, and know in 2013 I am going to have to be the one to take charge, and make things happen if no one else will. Since I have insurance when they are feeling hesitant about wanting to do or try something, I will be the one calling them and asking questions. None of this waiting game. I am wanting to move on with my life, and believing their will be many Praise reports this next yr.

The positive mentality can do a lot better though it is not easy to be like that. I am happy with your positive attitude. Hope you will recover from it quickly with the prayers of your dear and near ones.

Yes, it is being able to keep positive anytime I can with all of this I am going thru that is helping me get to the point where I am with this. I am still thinking 100% positive and have a game plan in the works for what I want to see happen from here, and will be discussing it tomorrow when I see my Wound care doctor again.

hi tina You have my unceasing prayers that your wound now will be healed enou gh to maybe have a skin graft. I am hoping all my dear mylot friends are also sending their prayers to heal your leg wound nicely. mylotparyers often have had such power people have recovered and shocked their doxtors. I am a so a diabetic too so I understand what all you are going through,. Any wound on me even small cuts seem to take forever to heal and I am in pretty good control of my blood sugar. today I have lost it as I ate three homemade cookies so feel really yucky'and am drinking a lot of water to dilute all that sugar. How stupid of me but I am human too. sod sob Keep up your optimism as it will help you to heal I know that much. And do not succumb like I just did to the too sweet holiday treats.

Thank you my dear friends. I am waiting anxiously for the Insurance to approve my skin graph request so then we can go from there. It has been a long haul, but am hoping for Great things in 2013 with this. Been doing good with my Blood Sugars most days, but glad the holidays are about over so I can quit having an excuse to splurge.

hi tina oh this holiday season was hard on me tolol as on the da s Aida is not on for our meals the others do not realize I am diabetic so I get the ice cream or the cookies I really should not e at and the huigh blood sugar from my stupidity. But two of them were told I am a brittle diabetic so offer me sugar free ice creamu alwa ys and like a good resident usually I do take the stuff. If you have ever tasted something called ice cream that is sugar free and fat free and flavor free you would want to weep for the good sugar free brands in the stores. this stuff they buuy for us here is cheaper and absolutely tasteless. I pour some hot coffee into it so I have the flavor of coffee ice cream at least.hop;e you can get yhour skin graft without its taking forever. I will send more prayers for healing hat at last.
