Occasionally I watch a few episodes of this reality show - Big Boss. I am not impressed. Most participants are celebrities and what we get to see is their base instincts that do not contribute much to their image. What is your view and why is this show so popular?

Hi allknowing
I dont have a tele at home and when I have access, I have never watched this series. But yes, I have seen a couple of episodes. They never seemed to be any appealing to me.
But yes, the TRPs say that this is a popular series. Also, if it wasnt, they wouldnt have been airing the Season 6 (and I also heard that the next season is on the floor).
Personally, I think, that we Indians are quite nosy people. We want to find entertainment by sneaking into everyone elses life
and that is what seems to be one of the reasons of this series to be popular. Also, the modern Gen Y loves reality shows - mainly because of those sleazy exchanges and other useless stuff (and yes, there would be many who would almost kill me for calling that as useless stuff)

Dear friends...it always amazes me what "series" become popular..some I find so ludicrous, just unbelievable drivel...but that certainly puts me in the minority!
Help, am having computer troubles....Monitor keeps going black...I can re-start it but it only stays on for seconds...Any suggestions???

Regarding your pc, I feel it is loose power connection. If it comes back that could be the only reason.

What is so grand about them trying their hand at cookin, or complaining about the toilet, or trying to flirt around, using bad words, screaming and even sometimes coming to blows, tale bearing, scheming against one another. Yes. The public finds this quite entertaining. This time there is a pair who have divorced after a 14 year marriage. It is quite embarrassing to watch them.

I often watch Big Boss. Yes most of the participants are celebs but they do act like they are not. Seeing them and fighting them for small issue really have us doubt if they are celebs. I don't know why this show is popular here I watch it because sometimes I like their arguments which they often do to promote this program may be they are told to do so.

At times it is stage managed to add spice to the show. I suppose the public would love to see celebrities 'letting their hair down' - a free for all. But somehow I feel it can tarnish their otherwise suave and savvy image. They should be concerned about it I think. Just this evening I saw one making an announcement about another participant saying that if there is one person he would never want to see again ever and that would be .... Is this good for that person's image? I wonder.

Saying it on National TV is another matter. Her name is Astha. Right? Talking about a celebrity lady like that is unheard of!

This is a poser...as it is not a program, I have seen on any network in my area! Searching the web, it looks like it might be similar to a program that is aired here; called Big Brother, a show where many people of both genders live it a house, play games, outwit and outplay each other in gaming competitions!
Yesterday, I did not receive any notifications..had lots of issues with myLot...but thanks for supported me against that idiot!

I think it could be a similar programme. They just live together under strained conditions - sometimes there is no flowing water and they have to make do with whatever arrangements. It is shocking to see them shirking, grabbing, bad mouthing and what have you. We have certain impressions about these celebrities and with this show it kind of reduces them to their base instincts - nothing much to write home about!

I guess there is one small diff...the participants (egoists) here are not notorious (celebs)...but they sure are vain! Enough so, I actually (at the point of excess boredom) attempted to watch an episode..but there was absolutely NO intrigue! Sooner watch water drip!

Hi,
The show is very popular as the reason most of time they keep fighting (lol) for no reason, the more you fight, raise your voice, more it gets attention.
And more so the big boss play very good role to create atmosphere which results in very big fights with contestants.
This shows is only for those who are either very loud in their behavior or very diplomatic.
If you are very good, then no place in this house to stay.
The purpose of this show is to entertain and use any tactics to play.
When Imam entered in this house as wild card entry, those first 2-3 episodes were very horrible to watch.
I watch this shows only to see how people keep changing color when nomination comes, and every one is playing game to earn.

What I am really concerned is whether in the process, their image could get tarnished. They too are no doubt human beings with all their faults but they need to maintain a certain amount of decorum by virtue of them being celebrities. Just a thought.

Yes agree.
But very interesting thing is, we all have short term memory, so we forget things very easily.
Funny but fact of life.
If you see any of above big boss contestants in any daily soap, we forget every thing what they did in big boss.
This is 6th season, I don't recollect from earlier five seasons and what blunders they did that time.
