Cox Communications is! I have not had access to my e-mail since Friday. How long have you gone without e-mail access, and NOT on purpose? Cox officially says it all happened on Saturday, but that must have been when they were made aware of it. Because Friday I was locked out. It appears to have been those customers in the East and Midwest. They may talk around it, but people are saying they were hacked. Which does not bode well for our privacy, huh? I've long wanted to switch, but it's so expensive to pay the connection fee when you sign up with a new company. I just hope it never happens again. Because Cox had already gotten my ire for charging me 33 dollars extra two months in a row for my ONE DOLLAR phone!

It's really terrible how some of these companies treat their customers.. but then you have to stop and think about what else is out there. I was not a big fan of my cable company, we have Time Warner here. So I switched to Direct TV and now I'm wishing I hadn't!

I had Directv a long time ago. In the days before DVR. I never could record anything and I didn't like that.

I don't have a problem with the Direct TV service. What I have a problem with is the fact that a couple days after we installed it, I decided to save money we should probably deal without cable all together, but they wouldn't let me cancel without paying an early termination fee of $20 a month for each month left on our 2 year contract!

I am so sorry that yu were without internet service and hope that all will be well now. However you reminded me of a story. My GF and his eledest son were killed in the first World War (1914-1918). My poor GM lost bith husband and eldest son. He was an Officer but the pension was very small and so times were hard as she was left with 7 other children to bring up alone. That Christmas, my father who was about 8 years old hung up a stocking even though he knew that there was no money. In the morning , in the stocking was an orange (big luxury) a bright shiny penny and a lump of clean coal. The clean coal was for luck so that the person hoped that you would never be cold. He said that he can still remember the shame he felt as he knew what a sacrifice his mother had made even to do this. Whenever he repeated the story then tears would come to his eyes despite our telling him that he was only a little boy and his mother knew this. End of story. Thanks for the memory anf have a wonderfull blessed Christmas if we do not get to tell each other this before Christmas

This brought a tear to my eye, Cynthi. I think that his mother put the coal into the stocking as a way to wish luck and hope on him, she did what she could to give him a good Christmas, I believe it was more to comfort her as much as it was him if that makes sense. Was your dad the youngest?

Honestly I think it started Thursday. Our time clock and our charting at work is all on the internet. We went down Thursday evening, I guess. I talked to the IT guy at our company on Friday and he said someone had reset the router, and it has all been downhill since then. Is it over yet?

I first notice it Friday, and then Cox tries to make it better by saying it happened on Saturday. Puh-lease. I probably just hadn't tried to get online Thursday night so I didn't notice.

I'm pretty sure they get coal in their stocking EVERY year. My son told me to stay clear of Cox because they're "awful". He didn't really specify but said that everyone he knows who uses Cox Communications has problems of one kind or another. I was trying to find something less expensive than Comcast and that's when my son told me not to go with Cox. He's never had it himself but he knows a few people who do and they're not happy with it, either. I sure hope, for your sake and everyone else who is affected by this latest issue with the emails, that Cox gets this straightened out SOON and has no further issues with it. Maybe if enough people complain, Cox will be forced to get their act together! Of course, they'd probably just raise their prices. Good luck!

They told us we'll eventually get all of our e-mail back, but they won't be in order. And I got an e-mail again telling me they weren't dropping the 33 dollar charge. Oh, there's gonna be problems.

we have had problems many times with cox but maybe thats just the communication headaches you get these days likely with any of them. i had directtv etc, and other ones that caused more problems. none others were even as good as cox. so guess we are stuck with bad service but not the worst

I actually think I'm going to get rid of them. I'm just so angry that they are now refusing to take off the 33 bucks for last month's telephone bill. I only get local service. I cannot even make a collect call. I pay one dollar because I qualify because of disability, ect. Normally if you're paying 33 dollars you get caller ID, long distance within your state...I don't get any of that and they still charged me 33 bucks. Combined with cable and internet that 33 bucks is just too much. And I tell you, if I quit them I'm taking to the internet to vent my frustration!

I have Comcast(Xfinity) and for the most part I have been happy with them. They offer up to seven email accounts; I have four with them. They have fast Internet and many free TV shows online. I also have several other email accounts at free sites such as Yahoo and AOL. I have one at AOL because my original first email was with Netscape and AOL bought them. That transition was a nightmare however. I was without the email for at least a couple of months and to get it back I had to change my email name and then they suddenly flooded me with all the missed emails for the two months or so which was something like two to three hundred emails all at once. So I had to go through them to see if any were still of importance at all and if some were spam. It was not a pleasant task.

Well after reading what Cynthi said, maybe coal isn't the best thing to be putting in their stocking. I hate to hear the trouble your having with them. I hope they get their acts together. In the mean time are you bundled internet and phone? Perhaps you could go with a cellphone company? AT&T I've heard good and bad things with. However, Straight Talk now offers home phone service, you could look into it. I believe it's very cheap. It won't solve the internet problem though, but there are other companies out there that can help you there. Perhaps unbundling would be better so that if one gives trouble your not losing the other.

That's too bad, I like Cox, sometimes its Cox with a different sounding "X", if you know what I mean. I hate Comcast, now those dolts can't do anything right. I was very dissatisfied with their service and I let them know. The problem was the guy who worked for the apartment complex could do no wrong to these love starved broads, (yea, I said it), who worked there too. The were enamoured with his great hair and snake oil salesman smile, after I let him know he was useless he turned tail every time I saw him. Switching is a hassle, they make it a hassle, just call them and tell them you want credit for the two months that they overcharged you and let them know you are thinking about switching. If they want to keep you as a customer they will do what it takes.

Cox Communications huh? I have been without the internet about a month ago for about three hours. My cable company(I get my internet, phone and cable through one company)did an update about a year ago and now I get glitches in the cable where I have no signal or a problem with the picture and my internet goes out. Never happened with i before the cable up date. So much for new equipment huh?

I use to have Charter. The worst. They could never fix anything, they're customer service sucks and they're soooo stupid. I switched to Verizon and have never had a problem since. They sent me a modem, DSL high speed connection, and it costs me $25 a month. I haven't had one problem with my connection and I've had them for a year now. And no contract. I'm really happy with them. Of course, my email is AOL and that's a whole other story......
