I woke up this morning and having laryngitis. I have this horrible cough and I can't talk at all if I do try to talk I was told I sound like mickey mouse and at times I souind like a seal, great. This is not how I wanted to start the new year. I was fine yesterday and about 1ish is when my voice started giving out then i wake up today like this. I had to text my boss and tell her I wouldn't be into work tomorrow because I deal with patients all day and with no voice I wouldn't be able to talk to them. I'm assuming she got my text but no word from her yet. What helps cure laryngitis? I'm not a tea drinker but any suggestions would be appreciated. I get this 2 or 3 times a year because whenever I get bronchitis it turns into this.

SOrry to hear about your laryngitis. What a way to move into the new year. It seems to be going around. I have heard other members say they have caught something. Doesn't seem to last long. Maybe yours won't either. And missing work already in the new year. Ain't it the luck?! Hope you get over it soon.

Well, perhaps getting sick now means you won't get sick for the rest of the year. That would be good, huh?

Seek a doctor. ,I take ginger ale if I have pharyngitis and colds. Effective indeed. I make it really strong... So it relieves the pain and soothes my breathing. Ginger is one of the great medicinal plants, lol roots. So Iit might help you

It's sad that you a the year with a Micky & Seal voice :-P. Anyway the treatment for this would be to give rest to your voice and drink a lot of fluids. Hope this will help you get well:-). Happy New year!

Sorry to hear that you aren't having a good start to your new year. I hope that you will start to feel better soon. It is awful being sick. Especially when there is often so much for us to get done. Get plenty of rest, fluids, and vitamins and minerals. Perhaps drinking some hot tea will help as well. I don't much like tea either but I drink it if I'm not feeling well.Sorry to hear you get this so often.

Hi there ! Oh , sorry to hear about it. The first thing you need to do is to never to drink any cold liquid . Not to eat also sweets and spicy. Have an adequate rest but drink plenty of lukewarm water and have an adequate rest. If symptoms persist see a doctor don't self medicate.

Hello Blondie I´m so sad to read about your laryngitis, you had it months ago, and you are having it again. I use my voice in my work too, I´m a singer and I got paid for it. I sing since 10 years ago, several times a week, and if my voice isn´t healthy, I can´t work properly and I feel like being tied. I get out of laryngitis only with medicine shots. I prefer to prevent getting sick, I wear boots since autumn, and I always wear extra sweater, and scarves, head hats, gloves. I´ve just bought a jar of vitamin C. I take a daily dosis of vitamins C of GNC store. I think you should go to the doctor office, it´s the best. Don´t you think so? Blessings blondie, get well soon, happy 2013... dainy

Have you tried gargling with an antiseptic/analgesic preparation. In the UK there is a mouthwash called Corsodyl which has helped to relieve my incidences of a sore throat. There is also TCP which is a bit foul smelling but offers blessed pain relief. I would strongly recommend asking, or rather writing down a request, for something similar and handing it to your pharmacist. It will help you to manage the dismfort while it clears. I have also found medicated lozenges very good - there are some here called Merocaine which are good. Having said that, these should be just supplementary comforters.I agree with another comment that your doctor would be best to advise you on getting it cleared up ASAP -so antibiotics may be your best friend in this regard. I hope you are feeling better soon.
